Chapter 74 - Information Exchange

SABLE'S POV

The letter from Odessa still burned in my mind even hours after I'd hidden it under my mattress. My small room felt smaller tonight, the walls staring at me like they knew what I was planning. The moon hung in the sky outside my window, silver light spilling across the worn wooden floor. I sat on the edge of my bed, twisting the hem of my shirt between my fingers, waiting until the pack house finally grew quiet.

Footsteps in the hallway had stopped. Doors had stopped creaking. Even the night patrol wolves were far off on the other side of the grounds. I slipped on a dark hoodie, pulled the hood up, and eased my door open. The corridor was empty. Good.

Ivy's room was on the same floor as Odessa's, tucked at the very end where fewer people walked. I knocked twice, soft, the way Odessa had taught me when we first started meeting in secret. The door opened just a crack, then wider when Ivy saw it was me.

"Get in," she whispered, pulling me inside by my sleeve.
