Bambi's POV
We got back to the pack house just as the sun was dipping low, casting long shadows over the grounds. The drive home had been peaceful, my hand in Dawn's the whole way. His thumb tracing circles on my skin. I kept thinking about Calandra's words—about trust, about the bond. About how Odessa wanted the power and Celeste... well, that was a surprise. In love with Dawn? Obsessed? It made sense of her warnings, but it didn't sit right. Still, I felt lighter. Like a weight had lifted.
Dawn parked the SUV and turned to me. "You okay?"
I nodded, smiling a little. "Yeah. Better than okay."
He leaned over, kissing my forehead softly. "Good. Let's get inside. You need rest."
We walked hand in hand to our room, my room, really, but it felt like ours now. The guards nodded, no questions. Inside, the familiar cedar scent wrapped around me. My room was beginning smell like him. I kicked off my sneakers and flopped onto the bed. Dawn chuckled, sitting beside me.
