Wearing a slightly faded hoodie and riding a worn electric scooter, Peter Parker weaved through the bustling streets of New York. The news played in his headphones: "Top Story: Construction of a new skyscraper is in full swing, expected to become a new landmark for the city—"
"That's great news," Peter muttered to himself, handing a bag of hot pizza to the front desk of an office building with a professional smile. "Your delivery is here."
The receptionist took the pizza, and as he turned to leave, his order vibrated again. He looked down to see the next delivery location was next to a construction site in the city center. Peter frowned; this area seemed a bit unstable recently. But work was work. He put his helmet back on and started the scooter.
A full day of deliveries left him exhausted. By evening, he finally rode back to his apartment, holding the empty delivery bag in one hand and fumbling for his keys with the other. Suddenly, a familiar prickling sensation crawled up the back of his neck.
Spider-Sense.
Peter's movements froze. He looked around; the street seemed quiet, but this calm was a sign of danger. He quickly inserted the key into the lock and whispered, "Who's there?"
His response was a soft landing sound, accompanied by the rustle of fabric against the ground. He whirled around and saw a figure leap from the shadows in the corner—a teenager in a black and red skin-tight suit, agile and fluid in his movements.
"Hey!" Peter shouted, quickly adopting a defensive stance. "Who are you?"
"Wait, calm down," the other person raised his hands, a hint of panic in his voice. "I'm not an enemy. I'm Spider-Man!"
Peter was stunned, his eyebrows raised. "Spider-Man? Sorry, that name's already taken."
The teenager scratched his head at the remark. "I know it sounds weird, but I really am Spider-Man, just... from another World."
"Another World?" Peter looked him up and down. "When you say another World, do you mean like a parallel Universe kind of another World?"
"Exactly," the other person nodded. "I'm Miles Morales, from Brooklyn. In my World, I'm Spider-Man. But recently... there was a bit of a problem. I got caught up in a big fight, and then I ended up here."
"Hmm, that sounds like a story I'd never believe." Peter dropped the bag to the ground, his figure blurring as he leaped onto the balcony railing. "Alright, if you're Spider-Man, prove it to me."
Miles's mouth twitched. "Are you serious?"
"Completely serious," Peter grinned provocatively. "Come on, Spider-Man."
The next second, both leaped into the air almost simultaneously. Miles shot a web with one hand and grabbed a drainpipe on the neighboring building with the other, gliding through the air in a smooth arc. Peter was more direct, quickly closing in between alternating web shots. They flipped and sparred in the air; Miles's movements were agile and creative, while Peter was more seasoned.
"Not bad, kid," Peter said after Miles dodged one of his lunges. "But your moves are too flashy. You'll be at a disadvantage in a real fight."
"Maybe," Miles leaped onto a lamppost and smiled back at Peter. "But at least I'm faster than you."
"Oh yeah?" Peter wasn't to be outdone, quickly firing two webs and pulling himself straight towards Miles. They briefly held a stalemate on the lamppost before landing together, watching each other warily.
Miles panted, raising his hand to signal a truce. "Alright, you win. I just wanted to say... I'm not here to fight. I need help finding my way home."
Peter was silent for a moment, slowly lowering his fighting stance, a complex emotion in his eyes. "Alright, maybe you're not a bad guy. But you need to explain clearly what's going on."
Miles nodded, then pulled a small device from his back pocket. "This was built by a friend in my World to monitor interdimensional anomalies. Recently, I detected some kind of powerful energy tearing through space-time, and then I..."
"Got sucked in," Peter finished, sighing. "Sounds a bit like something I've been through. But the problem now is, how do you get back?"
Miles frowned, gripping the device in his hand. "I haven't figured that out yet. But I know we might need to work together to solve this."
"Work together?" Peter repeated softly, his gaze sweeping over Miles's suit, then a smile appeared. "Alright, Spider-Man. Looks like you'll have to adapt to the rules of this World first."
New York's night was shrouded in an eerie silence, the occasional car horn on the street sounding particularly abrupt. Moonlight cast dappled shadows through the gaps between tall buildings, like a prelude to some unknown force raging through the city.
In a derelict warehouse in Brooklyn, an indescribable sense of oppression permeated the air. Morlun, a core member of the Inheritors, stood beside a worn shelf, his slender fingers gently brushing away dust as if sensing something. Greed flickered in his eyes, and his lips curved slightly. "The Spider Totems in this World are truly unique. Especially the new little one, his energy... is exceptionally tempting."
"Stop wasting time." Daegon's tone was impatient. His massive frame was shrouded in dim light, like a moving mountain. "I can't wait to tear their flesh and drain their souls."
"Calm down, brother." Bora drew out her words, gently patting her hounds, their blood-red eyes gleaming in the darkness. "The art of the hunt is enjoying the process, not rushing to devour."
Bane and Jennix stood at the other end of the warehouse, exchanging disdainful looks. Bora sneered, "What's with the chatter? We're just here to harvest prey. By the time you're wasting time playing art, we'll already have their heads under our feet."
"Enough!" Morlun raised his hand, his voice low but full of authority, instantly suppressing all noise. His gaze was sharp, looking straight ahead. "Don't forget, we are facing Spider Totems. Every totem is a precious energy source, especially these two—"
His voice suddenly lowered, as if savoring an upcoming feast. "Peter Parker, Miles Morales. Their energy can allow me to cross higher dimensions, and you, you just need to obey."
The Inheritors present fell silent for a moment, all eyes focused on Morlun. Jennix stepped forward, holding a high-tech device, and said calmly, "I have tracked the targets' location. They are currently active in a residential area in Queens. There isn't much time; if we don't act quickly, they might move again."
"Then let's move." Morlun's voice rang out like a command. His figure flickered and disappeared in the moonlight, the remaining Inheritors following close behind.
Peter Parker was lying on his worn-out couch, the TV playing a boring late-night shopping commercial. He rubbed his temples tiredly, thinking about the few more deliveries he had tomorrow. This life made him feel increasingly like an ordinary person, not the Spider-Man who used to swing through the city saving the day.
Suddenly, his Spider-Sense stung sharply. He shot up, looking out the window, a flicker of unease in his eyes. "This feeling... something's wrong."
Meanwhile, Miles was sitting on the floor of the room, studying his device. He was full of curiosity about everything in this World, but also vaguely felt an indescribable danger. His senses also became alert. He turned to look in Peter's direction and whispered, "You feel it too?"
Peter nodded, grabbing his suit from beside the couch. "Looks like we have some uninvited guests."
As soon as he finished speaking, a deafening roar came from the street. Both rushed to the window and saw several figures descending from the night sky, moving too fast to be caught.
"Welcome party?" Miles gave a wry smile. "They're not very polite."
"These aren't just ordinary bad guys." Peter's tone became serious. He quickly put on his suit and said to Miles, "Get ready to fight."
On the street, a hunt began. Morlun slowly stepped out of the darkness, his gaze sweeping over Peter and Miles, revealing a cold smile. "A wonderful night, isn't it?"
"Who are you?" Peter stood in front of Miles, his eyes wary.
"I am your end," Morlun slowly raised his hand, an ominous energy gathering at his fingertips. "And your salvation."
Before he finished speaking, Daegon charged out from the side, the air current from his strength nearly tearing up the ground. Peter quickly leaped up, hooked a street lamp with his web, narrowly avoiding the attack.
"Don't forget about me!" Miles shot a web, briefly restricting Daegon's movements, then delivered a spinning kick straight to his head.
"Interesting little one." Daegon grinned, completely unconcerned that his attack was interrupted. "But that amount of strength is far from enough."
Bella's hounds sped out of the darkness, charging straight at Miles. Peter swept kicked the hounds away, shouting simultaneously, "Miles, watch out!"
"We need more of a plan!" Miles panted, quickly retreating to Peter's side.
"No, guys like these, a plan won't solve it." Peter's eyes were fixed on Morlun. "Only fighting."
Morlun gently clapped his hands, his gaze sweeping over Peter and Miles, his tone filled with disdain and coldness. "The energy of two Totems in the same World, truly a rare feast. You are a miracle of fate, but also destined to be my prey. Struggle, your futile resistance will only make your energy sweeter."
