Chapter 128 - Personally Taking Action

"It really does look like Mr. Bai," said Kanai Kimishima, nodding.

But Yue Buqun and Uncle Nine, standing beside her, had already sensed something was wrong.

Although the scene on TV had flashed by only briefly, the expressions of the people shown clearly weren't friendly.

Feigning calm, Yue Buqun smiled and said, "Senior Bai is a man of great power and influence in this world. Isn't it only natural that he'd appear on television?"

Bai Ye's eyes narrowed slightly. He was a little surprised by the broadcast just now. Turning his head toward Stark and Willy, he noticed that both of their heartbeats had suddenly quickened — they had clearly been expecting this.

That place just now… was the Empire State Building, right? Bai Ye mused to himself. No wonder that landmark wasn't on today's sightseeing list — they must have deliberately avoided it.

In the next moment, Bai Ye released the sensory control he usually kept suppressed — and instantly, half of New York's sounds poured into his mind. Within seconds, he had a full grasp of the situation.

Beside him, Lin Jiu chimed in helpfully, "Brother Yue makes a good point. It'd actually be strange if Mr. Bai didn't show up on TV."

"Yes, yes, exactly!" Master Luo added quickly, catching on and nodding in agreement.

Seeing everyone trying so hard to smooth things over, Bai Ye's mood actually worsened a little. He clicked his tongue softly in irritation.

But he knew it wasn't their fault. Forcing down his displeasure, he said evenly, "Let's keep eating. We still have two more spots to visit — better get our strength up."

Willy, who had originally scheduled visits to seven different locations, immediately caught his meaning. Without a word, he crossed out five of them from the itinerary and smiled politely.

Half an hour later, the group finished their meal and cheerfully bid Bai Ye farewell, satisfied with the day's outing.

"Wait," Bai Ye said with a smile. "Since you've come all this way, don't rush off yet. Before you leave, I've prepared a few gifts for you."

"Gifts?" The group exchanged curious looks, their eyes lighting up.

"Yes. Willy will take you to collect them," Bai Ye replied. They were gifts he had prepared in advance, tailored to each person's personality and preferences.

For Yue Buqun, he had arranged a complete weapons manufacturing chain, along with a stockpile of rocket launchers.

For Lin Jiu, he had prepared gold.

For Kanai Kimishima, jewels.

A modest but thoughtful gesture of hospitality.

Soon, the group left with eager smiles, following Willy to claim their gifts.

Once their figures had disappeared, Bai Ye's expression instantly darkened.

Clap, clap.

He brought his hands together softly — and in the next instant, the entire street froze in place. Time itself seemed to have stopped.

The once-lively street fell into a strange, deathly stillness.

Men and women who had been strolling or chatting now stood motionless in their spots.

A small dog tugged at its leash, tilting its head in confusion at its frozen owner.

Inside a nearby café, a white-collar worker sat rigidly at his table while the second hand on his wristwatch ticked on.

The visitors from earlier had been so absorbed in the relaxed atmosphere that they'd failed to notice something odd — despite everyone around them wearing different clothes, no one had paid the slightest attention to their unusual group.

In truth, every "pedestrian" they'd seen along the way — from the Statue of Liberty to this very street — had been an actor.

To ensure his guests enjoyed a pleasant experience, Bai Ye had cleared out every real tourist and passerby from the sightseeing areas.

But even such careful planning couldn't prevent today's mood from being ruined.

From the corner of the street, the massive figure of Kingpin emerged, hurrying over to Bai Ye.

"You knew about this already?" Bai Ye asked lightly.

"Y-Yes, sir," Kingpin stammered. "I was going to report it to you last night, but I didn't want to ruin your mood for today's outing, so I… delayed it a little."

"Taking matters into your own hands?" Bai Ye gave him a faint, cutting glance. After a long moment, seeing the man too afraid to even breathe, he finally withdrew his gaze. "You've done well so far. Let's not make this mistake again."

"Y-Yes, of course!" Kingpin exhaled in relief, then asked quickly, "Shall I have them all dealt with — the same way as before?"

"No need. You're too slow."

Bai Ye turned his gaze toward the distant Empire State Building. "I'll handle this myself. Just be ready to clean up afterward."

"C-clean up afterward?" Kingpin looked up — just in time to see Bai Ye's figure vanish amid a violent gust of wind.

Outside the New York Capitol, waves of protest filled the air once again.

These people seemed to have completely forgotten the brutal lesson Bai Ye had taught them just days ago.

Their arrogance had returned — shouting slogans, they once again styled themselves as "freedom fighters."

High above, standing atop the Empire State Building, Bai Ye looked down coldly at the seething crowd below.

Forever outraged. Forever tearful. Forever forgetting. Forever being used as tools.

"…Enough," he muttered. "This time, I'll finish it all in one go — save us all the trouble later."

With that thought, Bai Ye lightly bent his knees — and leapt.

As he fell, his body accelerated rapidly — faster and faster — until he broke the sound barrier, plunging straight toward the ground.

Boom!

Before anyone in the crowd could react, Bai Ye crashed down before the Empire State Building in a superhero landing — blasting open a crater ten meters wide.

Shattered debris exploded outward like shrapnel, piercing through the bodies of nearby protesters.

Screams filled the air.

The chaotic scene spread across the world through live broadcasts.

In the settling dust, Bai Ye slowly rose to his feet — ignoring the cries and wails around him — and began walking calmly toward the building's entrance.

"A-Ah! It's him! That mutant monste—" someone screamed, pointing at his back.

But before the words were finished, Bai Ye didn't even turn his head.

He simply tapped his right toe against the ground and flicked backward sharply.

Rumble—!

From the point beneath his heel, a web of cracks burst outward, spreading like ripples in water.

The man who had pointed at him — along with a dozen bystanders — were swept up by a sudden hurricane of force and slammed into the side of a building, their fates unknown.

"Annoying noise."

Bai Ye rubbed his ear impatiently, his pace never faltering as he stepped inside.

He didn't look back even once — as if the lives of those who'd just died weren't worth a second thought.

Inside the White House, President Ellis stood frozen, watching the live broadcast in disbelief.

How could he? How could he dare to attack openly? Doesn't he fear our military?

The thought roared inside his mind, words failing him entirely. When he turned, he saw Rodriguez wearing the same look of stunned disbelief.

And at that very moment, Bai Ye was already pushing open the doors of the Capitol Building, stepping calmly into the heavy silence of its chamber.
