"What is going on?"
"Are they really wagering her? I'm so jealous!"
"That's a Dreg, right?"
"This is insane. Two top Ascendants are going to battle!"
Willow couldn't believe her ears. Ezrik was challenging Navian for her. And she had no idea what to say or do. Frozen in place, she turned stiffly toward Navian, but he wasn't even looking at her.
His eyes were settled on Ezrik with complete boredom. Ezrik, in turn, didn't look the least bit rattled. Clearly, this wasn't their first clash.
Without a word, Navian rose to his feet. Whispering shadows burst from his body, swirling around him like a tornado before swallowing him whole. A second later, he reappeared on the stage, directly in front of Ezrik. And the shadows vanished as smoothly as they'd come.
Ezrik was wearing a wild smile, his emerald eyes glinting with mischief as he stroked his chin. "Look at you. So flashy."
Navian rolled his eyes, shoving one hand into his pocket. "And you're impulsive as always."
