At first, Evelyn didn't pay much attention as it was only background noise to her.
She thought it was just another celebrity scandal or business headline that didn't concern her and was likely much exaggerated by the media.
But as soon as the reporter mentioned a familiar name, her gaze and mind shot toward the TV.
"Breaking news: Lana Scott attempts to kill herself..."
The words struck her like a slap behind the head. She froze. The iPad slipped slightly from her hands as her eyes focused on the TV screen in disbelief.
"No way! You've got to be kidding me..." she muttered.
For a moment, she just stared blankly at the flashing red "Breaking News" banner, unsure whether to laugh or be shocked.
She leaned forward and grabbed the iPad again, quickly searching the same article on her screen.
When she read it, she couldn't help but let out a chuckle.
"Gosh, these journalists," she muttered under her breath. "Why the heck do they use such narration?"
