Tenth mate?!
The revelation made my heart quicken. My eyes widened as I stared at Elias, and I blinked twice. Did his awful attitude chase off the nine? I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case.
"Tenth mate?" I repeated to be sure that I had heard him right.
"Tenth," Elias affirmed with a nod. Then he scratched the back of his neck as if he was embarrassed to have released that piece of information to me.
"Is he cursed or something?" I questioned out loud. I adjusted on the bench, pulling the jacket around me even tighter.
"That's as much as I can say. I think both of you should sort out your differences. I don't want to be an intermediate," Elias said, then he shuddered as if he remembered something.
My head reeled. I had so many questions I wanted to ask. Elias was right, it was only Atlas who could provide me with the answers. However, he was a jerk and would say nothing to me.
Would it be insensitive or weird if I asked what position Sophia was in? Probably not.
