Chapter 315: Eating a Free Meal?
Uchiha Fugaku got the answer he wanted, a faint smile appearing on his lips as he immediately brought up the system panel and submitted the anime title in the task area.
After clicking enter, a virtual keyboard appeared. Fugaku switched to Chinese nine-key Pinyin, typed out "Goblin Slayer", and then selected submit.
With a crisp ding, a few seconds later, the task was displayed as completed.
The reward for completing the task, the Kusanagi Sword, was also sent to the system mailbox.
Fugaku clicked extract, and a Kusanagi Sword appeared out of thin air. Feeling the connection, Fugaku phantom-gripped it and took the Kusanagi Sword into his hand.
He examined the Kusanagi Sword as if no one else was there. In the mail section just now, he could see the Kusanagi Sword's attributes.
This was a double-edged straight sword that could be arbitrarily lengthened or shortened after infusing chakra into it.
It was exactly like the Kusanagi Sword in Orochimaru's hand. The sharpness of this blade was such that even Enma, with his Adamantine Body, would feel pain upon touching it.
It could be considered a decent weapon.
Fugaku drew the blade and looked at it for two seconds before sheathing it. He wondered whether the system had stolen Orochimaru's Kusanagi Sword or simply copied an identical one.
He would know once he returned and asked Orochimaru.
Sherry watched as this man conjured a long sword out of thin air, her expression barely changing as she maintained her polite smile. This important figure seemed to be a mage, possessing storage-type space magic or something similar.
She wasn't too surprised. She also knew an Adventurer—a witch—who could use storage space magic.
Of course, it couldn't be said for certain that this person was a mage. Some treasures didn't require magic to store items; they were specially crafted by great mages.
Such treasures were extremely precious and worth a fortune. Judging from this man's bearing, he clearly wasn't short on money.
But the next second, when she saw the man turn and leave, a hint of surprise flashed across Sherry's face.
What did this mean? Was he leaving?
Wasn't he looking for Goblin Slayer?
Speaking of which, she had already asked Goblin Slayer to look into that Goblin subjugation quest.
That morning, a newly formed Adventurer team had accepted the Goblin subjugation quest almost immediately. To be honest, she was very worried about their safety.
All four of them were Porcelain-ranked. Originally three people, they had recruited a new priest when accepting the quest…
On the surface, their strength was barely sufficient, with both offense and healing.
But without experience in hunting Goblins, even if their apparent strength was enough, the probability of failure was extremely high.
And the consequence of failure was—
The men would be killed and eaten.
The women, if captured, would be reduced to breeding tools.
It was quite a coincidence. Not long after that team departed, Goblin Slayer arrived.
Originally, that Goblin subjugation quest had been reserved for Goblin Slayer. She knew he was taciturn, but he was a good person. So she suggested he go and check on them, and Goblin Slayer agreed.
He hadn't returned yet.
She didn't know how the new team was doing.
"Are you done, Uncle?"
Naruto asked when he saw Fugaku return.
"Yes. Let's go eat."
Fugaku casually tossed the Kusanagi Sword in his hand to Uchiha Itachi.
Itachi caught it and asked in surprise,
"Father, this is…?"
"The Kusanagi Sword," Fugaku said. "It's for you."
A hint of shock flashed through Itachi's eyes.
"Father, is it sold here?"
"Of course not," Fugaku replied casually. "This Kusanagi Sword is a weapon from our clan's vault. I found it some time ago. It's for you to use."
"Oh…!"
Itachi immediately understood. He had thought his father bought it here.
But thinking about it carefully, the Kusanagi Sword was a unique weapon from their world. There was no way it could be sold here.
"Uncle, what did you talk about with that big sister?"
Naruto asked curiously.
Fugaku glanced at him.
"Aren't you hungry? You still have energy to care about that?"
Naruto chuckled.
"Just asking."
"I didn't say much," Fugaku replied. "I just asked whether she had heard of Hyūga Moonview Fortress."
Shibata Hyūga and Hyūga Yokoyama both stiffened slightly.
"Fugaku-sama, is there any news about Hyūga Moonview Fortress?"
Shibata Hyūga asked.
Fugaku shook his head.
"No."
As he spoke, he noticed a restaurant ahead.
Fugaku led everyone inside.
By sheer luck, a table had just been vacated and cleaned by the attendant.
After they sat down, the shop assistant came over to take their order.
Fugaku glanced at the menu and ordered several dishes at random.
Once the shop assistant left, Sasuke suddenly raised a question.
"Father… can banknotes be used here?"
Fugaku froze.
He had forgotten about that entirely.
The currency of the Fire Country obviously couldn't be used here.
The local currency system seemed to rely on gold, silver, and copper coins.
But the dishes had already been ordered.
Were they about to dine and dash?
Fugaku shot Sasuke a sideways glance.
"Why didn't you mention it earlier?"
"Father, they probably haven't started cooking yet. Should I go tell them we're not eating?"
Itachi suggested.
"Forget it," Fugaku said calmly. "It's already ordered."
Then he added,
"We'll pawn your Kusanagi Sword here. After that, we'll accept a quest at the Adventurer's Guild. Once we get paid, we'll come back and redeem it."
"That works."
Itachi nodded.
Naruto's proven curiosity was immediately triggered.
"Uncle, I saw a quest to subjugate Trolls on the board. What are Trolls? Are they Summoning Beasts?"
"No," Fugaku replied. "They're called Demonic Beasts in this world. Trolls and Goblins both fall into that category."
"How do you know that?"
"The lady at the counter told me."
"Then—"
"Enough," Fugaku interrupted. "Here. Take my phone and play a game."
Naruto grinned instantly.
"Hehe, okay!"
The game sounds drew a few glances from nearby tables.
"Naruto," Itachi reminded him, "turn the volume down."
"Oh! Right!"
About ten minutes later, the dishes arrived.
"Naruto," Fugaku said, "turn it off. It's time to eat."
