Fukasaku turned quickly, dodging the Rasenshuriken. Just as he was about to step forward with an indignant heart to reason with the boy, he was suddenly caught in the child's grasp.
His speed was too fast!
"Sorry, I'm blind. I don't know who you are. Sneaking around on my wall—what are you doing? You wouldn't happen to be one of those child-snatchers, would you?"
Recently, Konoha had been losing children, all because of Orochimaru. Hyūga Shigeo naturally knew this, and he also knew that this toad was none other than the elder of Mount Myōboku, Sage Fukasaku!
But to maintain his cover, he had to pretend not to know!
Hyūga Shigeo pinched Fukasaku's toad throat with his fingers, while his other hand reached out to touch its belly. "You're… a frog?"
"Let go, let go at once! In all my years, no one has ever dared touch my belly!"
Elder Fukasaku burst out with a surge of chakra, forcing Shigeo's fingers open. The old toad puffed up angrily, his face filled with righteous fury.
"You brat, do you know who you're offending? You've gone too far! If it weren't for the fact you're blind and just a child, I would, I would…"
As he spoke, Fukasaku spun and shot out a chakra blade.
Hyūga Shigeo twisted aside, dodging the strike. Though his eyes were shut, his ears were sharp, and with the Mirror System in his mind, he clearly pictured his opponent and even the surrounding area.
"Haha, just one morning of training and you've already entered Sennin Mōdo? Pretty impressive!"
Though Fukasaku kept a stern face, inwardly he was thrilled. He felt as though he had stumbled upon a new world, his eyes shining with excitement.
Unexpectedly, this boy was truly capable. Fukasaku turned again, bursting forth with massive chakra:
"Gamagyōdan (Toad Oil Bullet)!"
"Fūton (Wind Release)…" Hyūga Shigeo unleashed Fūton.
Ordinarily, Fūton should not have been able to overcome the Gamagyōdan, since there wasn't a direct elemental advantage.
But the next moment left Sage Fukasaku dumbfounded. The Gamagyōdan, originally not very large, suddenly exploded with greater ferocity because Shigeo's Fūton had intertwined with Katon (Fire Release). The flames expanded violently, creating a massive explosion.
"I wonder if roast frog tastes good?" the boy said softly, before vanishing with a Shunshin no Jutsu (Body Flicker Technique).
A massive explosion boomed across the field, forcing Fukasaku to retreat quickly.
He hadn't expected the boy to reappear right behind him. Though Hyūga Shigeo was just a child, Sage Fukasaku was very small in stature. The boy easily caught him again in one hand.
In the blink of an eye, Shigeo Shunshin'd again, reappearing before the blazing Gamagyōdan flames, holding the little old toad aloft. "I want roast frog!"
"Gwah! In all my life, I've never—!" Fukasaku struggled desperately, but this kid also wielded Sage chakra. For a moment, he couldn't break free.
His whiskers and eyebrows were singed off by the fire. In desperation, he bit Shigeo's finger, forcing himself free before fleeing.
As he scampered away, Sage Fukasaku thought bitterly: Damn it, I actually lost to a child not even in his teens… how humiliating!
With a final poof, he vanished from the scene.
As the flames of the Gamagyōdan died down, the heated air faded under the dwindling Fūton. Hyūga Shigeo's lips curled in a faint smile. Seeing the old toad flee like that, he figured Fukasaku wouldn't tell anyone about this incident.
After all, he didn't want to be turned into Konoha's ultimate weapon at such a young age. He still wanted to take his time to grow.
