Chapter 1 - Chapter1

(~Kevo POV~)

I was in a dark house. It looked just like the one I live in right now though this one looks in terrible condition. The windows were shattered. The floorboards looked to be ripped off the floor.

I saw something in my peripheral vision. I couldn't tell what it was.

I snapped my head where I thought I saw it. There was nothing

"Who's there!" I shouted.

I heard a laugh next to me.

Something shoved me to the ground. I didn't see anything there. What was happening to me?!

"Stop it!" I was screaming now.

"So worthless"

I turned around. I saw it then. It was a shadow being. 8 feet tall and looked like it was made of sludge. It pulled out a sword. Raising it up and then down at me.

I bolted awake.

It was another nightmare. I've been having these nightmares often recently. Almost every-day now. I looked at the clock on the side of my bed. It was only 4:30am. I got up. No point in trying to go back to sleep now.

I did my usual morning routine. I packed my books and papers, brushed my teeth, ate a quick breakfast, and quickly walked to school.

I was so sick of these nightmares, they had been tormenting me almost everyday now. Every single time I dared close my eyes.

I quickly went to my first period class, careful to avoid the smokers who usually hung out at the entrance of the school.

My classes went about as expected until about fourth period, which was biology

I set my bags on the floor and I saw someone walk through the door. I had never seen him before. He was a Wolf anthro. Anthos were rare around Maine, like very rare. There were only about 2-3He had golden fur and bright blue eyes. I realized I was staring. I quickly looked back to my notes.

"Attention class, today we have a new student today. Sol you can sit by Kevo over there."

Oh my gosh. Was he going to sit next to me?! Sol walked over and sat to the desk to my right and gave me a small smile. I felt my cheeks going red.

"H-hi" I said meekly.

I knew this kind of opportunity did not come very often.

"So, umm, where did you move from?" I asked

"I'm from California, and I just moved here." he said

"Nice! I went there for vacation and..."

"Kevo, Sol, settle down, we will be starting the class. Today we will be taking notes on mitosis." snapped the teacher.

I couldn't concentrate on the notes. Finally, after 15 pages of notes, the bell rang.

Just as I was getting up from my seat, I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was Sol.

"Hey, sorry, do you know where the lunchroom is?" he asked.

"Y-yeah, I guess you can follow me" I said.

We then walked to the lunchroom. I didn't really have any friends, so I usually just sat alone at one of the empty tables.

"Hey, do you mind, if I, umm, sit with you, I just moved here so I don't really have many friends, umm..."

I felt my cheeks warm.

"Sure"

We sat down at the empty lunch table and he started talking about how life was in California and how it was much warmer there then here in Maine.

"So it actually gets warmer then 70 degrees there?" I asked.

"Yes, much more"

He smiled and hesitated before saying "Hey, umm, do you want to, I guess hang out later today, at my house?" he asked.

Oh my gosh! Was he actually suggesting...

"Y-yeah! That would b-be nice!" I said.

Just then the bell rang signaling the start of 6th period.

"Oh, we should exchange numbers" he said.

I barely paid attention to my next classes, all I could think about was going to his house later today. I stopped myself. He probably didn't even like me, like what were the chances?! Most likely very low. But you never know.
