Chapter 13 - Undercurrent

---

**Barren Land**

**The Holy Void of Damargania**

Nestled within the enigmatic spires of the **Heaven Tower**, a realm where the divine and the damned intertwine, a sigh echoed softly through the void.

A figure, standing about two meters tall, with blue hair and eyes as deep and luminous as sapphires, let out a gentle exhale. His expression was one of quiet resignation as he watched his companion drift into sleep after a modest meal.

For beings like them, sustenance seemed nothing more than a frivolous indulgence—an exercise in futility and a waste of precious time.

*"Dino!!"* the man barked, his voice tinged with impatience.

The sleeping figure, a young man named Dino, slowly lifted his heavy eyelids, his brow furrowing in groggy acknowledgment.

Despite his handsome features—if only his dark circles and perpetual drowsiness weren't so prominent—his messy silvery-purple hair and dull bluish-gray eyes betrayed his exhaustion.

He wore a purple-pink shirt, white shoulder guards, and a flowing green cloak. Twin swords dangled at his waist, silent witnesses to countless battles.

"I'm so sleepy... Dagruel," Dino mumbled in a sleepy, half-hearted tone.

Dagruel clicked his tongue, a sharp sound that echoed softly in the stillness, then said, with a hint of intrigue:

"I've got some exciting news. Interested?"

Dino blinked sluggishly, lifting his gaze with a yawn.

"What's wrong? Is that troublemaker causing chaos again? Ugh, what a pain"

Dagruel shook his head, a sly smile curling on his lips.

"This time, it's something that might actually pique your interest"

Curiosity flickered in Dino's eyes as he sat up slightly.

"What is it, Dagruel? Is it that smelly brat's training again? Sorry, but I think I'll pass"

At that moment, little Dagura—who had just entered the room—overheard the conversation. His eyes widened in shock, tears welling up instantly. Without a word, he turned tail and sprinted away, shouting through his tears:

"Idiot Uncle Dino!"

Dagruel chuckled heartily at the scene, a deep, genuine laugh that resonated through the chamber.

Dino, brushing off the moment, muttered:

"Hurry up and get on with it, Dagruel. My eyelids are drooping again"

Hearing this, a tiny tic-tac-toe pattern appeared on Dagruel's temple, a sign of his irritation. Without hesitation, he swung and delivered a light punch to Dino's head.

*Smack!*

"Ouch! Why'd you hit me? That hurts!"

"Shut up! And listen, you little runt," Dagruel snapped, clearing his throat with a commanding tone. "A true chosen hero claims the title of Demon Lord"

Dino's eyes widened in surprise, a smirk tugging at his lips.

"Oi oi, really?! Now that's some spicy news"

Dagruel nodded solemnly.

"Indeed. A genuine hero daring to proclaim himself a demon lord is no small feat. That individual is quite remarkable"

Dino scoffed lightly.

"Whoever becomes the demon lord doesn't matter to me—so long as they don't disturb my sleep or wreck my peace"

Dagruel's gaze sharpened.

"His courage is admirable, but whether he survives the wrath of those who despise him—that's another matter entirely"

Suddenly, both of them shifted their gazes upward, senses heightened.

From the direction they stared, a shimmering aura of blue and purple sparkled in the air. A mysterious dimensional portal materialized, emanating a potent magical presence. The atmosphere thickened with anticipation as the door slowly swung open, revealing two elegant, captivating maids—one with green hair, the other with blue hair—stepping out with grace and confidence.

The maids bowed respectfully in unison.

"Lord Dino"

"Lord Dagruel"

The two men exchanged glances, a silent understanding passing between them. Dagruel nodded affirmatively.

"Did you come at Guy's behest?"

Rain and Misery nodded in unison.

Before they could speak further, Dagruel cut in.

"We shall come"

"Send my regards to Guy. If he wishes to see me, he's always welcome—it's been centuries since we last met," Dagruel added with a faint smile.

The maids nodded respectfully once more.

"Understood"

Having fulfilled their duty, the two maids cast a brief glance at the shimmering portal. With blank expressions, they stepped back into the luminous magical core, raising their hands gracefully. In an instant, the portal began to shrink and close, leaving behind an eerie silence. Without a word, they vanished into the depths of the magical light, and the portal dissolved from view, plunging the chamber into quietude.

Dagruel muttered under his breath, almost to himself:

"Walpurgis, huh?"
