Prometheus's earnest persuasion was useless. Before Iapetus could speak, Atlas was already angrily rebuking:
"Enough, Prometheus! Having betrayed His Majesty the God King, what honor do you have left?!"
"Have you forgotten how your honor was obtained?!"
"Our entire Iapetus family—all the honors every god received were bestowed by the God King!"
"How could you betray His Majesty the God King?! How dare you betray the divine lord who granted us glory?!"
Upon hearing this, Prometheus immediately retorted angrily: "Atlas! My brother! What honor exactly did the God King bestow?!"
"Our father god is the great Primordial Titan Iapetus! Our mother goddess is that Ocean goddess daughter, wise and gentle Clymene!"
"But what is this so-called honor you received?!"
"You are the violent stellar deconstructive force, Menoetius is the arrogant stellar collapse force!"
"You are merely power used at will in the God King's hands, just tools he manipulates!"
Prometheus suppressed his grief and anger, pointing at Atlas: "Mother goddess sought a marriage for you with the gentle daughter of Oceanus—Pleione. You gave birth to seven gentle and kind daughters—the Pleiades. We became increasingly friendly with great Oceanus. How wonderful this was."
PS: (The Pleiades, also known as the Pleiades star cluster, one of the best visible deep-sky object groups to the naked eye, also called the Seven Sisters cluster. These seven goddesses represent the cluster's seven most brilliant stars—seven of the most beautiful, brightest, and most glorious stellar goddesses. At least three of them bore sons with Zeus.)
"But what honor did His Majesty the God King bestow upon the Pleiades? Still stellar honor!"
"For this, we became enemies with the mighty cosmic framework!"
"But this wasn't the end!"
"Later you bore the well-behaved and lovely Hyades (rain nymphs), Calypso (sea water goddess), and Hyas (mist god). The God King granted them authorities over rain, seawater, and mist."
"Thus we simultaneously offended both the great sea god Pontus and boundless ocean Oceanus!"
Prometheus turned his gaze to Menoetius, his voice carrying angry reproach for failing to meet expectations: "And you, rash and arrogant Menoetius."
"Mother goddess sought a marriage for you with a daughter of Pontus's eldest son, the good and gentle Nereus—Erynia (peaceful river goddess). Together you bore beautiful Hesperis (sunset glow)."
"But what did Hesperis receive? The honor of stellar radiance!"
"For this we also became enemies with master of celestial bodies Hyperion!"
Prometheus looked back at Atlas, his eyes full of disappointed disgust as if looking at a fool: "And you! Stupid and confused Atlas! You hopeless fool! What exactly do you understand?!"
"You even secretly bore the three Hesperides sisters with Hesperis!"
"These gentle and amiable children—they still received the honor of stellar radiance! The Iapetus family completely feuded with Hyperion's family!"
PS: (The three Hesperides sisters—Aigle, goddess of brilliant sunset; Erytheia, goddess of deep red evening clouds; Hespera Arethusa, goddess of twilight dusk).
Prometheus cursed harshly: "You complete and utter fool! Brute! Why don't you think about why you and Pleione as well as Hesperis could bear laws completely unrelated to your origins?!"
"The bright path mother goddess paved for you—everything was ruined because of this!"
After cursing thoroughly, Prometheus suppressed his grief and anger, shouting lowly: "Look! What kind of honor has the God King truly bestowed upon us?!"
"Our originally close brothers and friends have now all become our enemies!"
"Is what the God King bestowed truly real honor?! Why do I see only isolating schemes?"
"Look! Does the Iapetus family still have any true friends?!"
Rash Menoetius was completely enraged by Prometheus's words, roaring furiously: "Enough! Prometheus, what exactly are you babbling about?!"
"The entire universe belongs to His Majesty the God King—everything is under the God King's rule!"
"The God King hasn't occupied the gods' own honors—the gods didn't actively bear laws! Can't we bear them?!"
"I only see the Iapetus family becoming increasingly prosperous under His Majesty the God King's leadership, our influence growing daily!"
"To gain something, one must pay! Is there anything in this world that can be obtained for nothing?!"
"Serving His Majesty the God King loyally is only natural!"
"As long as we serve the God King faithfully, the God King will grant us continuous honor and power!"
Menoetius snorted disdainfully: "What about Crius? His children aren't allowed to enter the world!"
"What about Hyperion? His children aren't allowed to illuminate the world!"
"Honor forever belongs only to the God King and Iapetus family! To those strong ones brave enough to strive for it!"
Atlas, having been embarrassed earlier about his affair being exposed, only spoke up after Menoetius confronted Prometheus.
He snorted coldly: "How other families fare—what does that matter to us?!"
"Prometheus, you must know what kind of god you are! Whose child you are! Whose family you should strive to strengthen!"
"Can making friends with other gods expand your own honor?!"
"Honor must be fought for by oneself!"
"We already possess too much honor—involving power, starry sky, light, sea and ocean! We'll have even more in the future!"
"All this was obtained through our loyalty to His Majesty the God King. Could it be obtained through your so-called friendship with other gods?!"
Atlas laughed coldly, his voice carrying mockery: "Prometheus, now that you serve that rebel traitor Zeus, what have you gained? What have you been granted?"
"You're merely a traitor with nothing!"
"Who in this world would truly value a traitor?"
Prometheus, usually calm-tempered, couldn't endure this anymore. His two brothers' stupidity and stubbornness exceeded all his imagination.
He roared angrily: "Enough! You two fools! Though I haven't gained anything yet, I also won't lose everything I possess because of it!"
"In the long future ahead, I can still find ways to possess more!"
"But you—though you've temporarily gained some false glory and authority, when you look around and see the universe full of enemies, can you possess them for long?! Can you defend these things?!"
Prometheus no longer wanted to speak with these two thoroughly foolish brothers. He turned his gaze to his father god Iapetus, his eyes carrying pleading and hope.
"Father god, don't you, in your wisdom, also think they're right? Can't you also see this approaching great trend?"
Iapetus's stern face showed not the slightest ripple of emotion or thought.
His low and firm voice slowly sounded, carrying meaningful words: "Prometheus, to gain something, one must pay."
"This is the universe's supreme principle."
"Only sometimes this payment must be made before gaining; sometimes it's the price that must be paid after gaining."
"The future is always ethereal and uncertain. If one fears loss and doesn't strive, isn't that equivalent to never having possessed anything?"
Iapetus's calm gaze fell on Prometheus: "You inherited your mother goddess's wisdom—you're too clever. Every god praises you so."
"But you've forgotten that cleverness is praise for children. A god who truly understands the world, a mature god, should possess clear wisdom."
"You always want to gain without paying, or pay some insignificant price to gain much."
"Prometheus, my child, you're not the only clever god in this world."
"You're clever, but not steadfast enough."
"You will pay a price for this in the future."
"Perhaps you understand this principle in your heart, but you'll always have a gambling mentality, because you're too clever—always thinking you can easily avoid risks."
"Though your two brothers aren't as clever as you, they understand better than you the most simple principle of exchanging payment for reward."
Prometheus's hopeful eyes dimmed, but he still pleaded desperately: "Father god, this is a war destined for failure. Everything is still not too late now."
"Even if we choose to serve son of Rhea Zeus, would we lose the honor our Iapetus family deserves?"
"Great and powerful as you are, tolerant Zeus won't refuse your allegiance. The son of Rhea's heart is as vast as the universe—he will accept you."
"We're different from Coeus and the others—we have no fundamental conflict with the son of Rhea."
"Even if the universe implements a new order, even if we might lose some honor, this is only temporary. In the new order, can't we gain even greater honor?"
"Only by possessing the present can we possess the future. But if you continue being obstinate, you will surely lose both present and future! Lose everything!"
Iapetus frowned slightly, his low voice carrying undeniable authority as he rebuked: "Enough, Prometheus!"
"There are no so-called certain victory or certain defeat wars in this world—only the invincible will of the brave!"
"What do you know of the God King's great courage and that invincible divine might!"
"Even the invincible immortal Sky Father, that master of spirituality, was still sent by the God King to eternal slumber high in the sky!"
"We are sons of Uranus! We are the first Titans, the foundation of all existence in the universe!"
"When have you ever seen defeated Titans?!"
"Titans never lose!"
