Kaito frowned. Ever since his encounter with the diviner Evans, he had become unconsciously wary of such coincidences. As it happened, he had exactly one B-rank Singularity left in his inventory.
He thought for a moment, then turned to leave. The item was extremely popular; a single B-rank Singularity might not even be enough to win it. Rather than waste time, it was better to try and offload some of the things in his inventory that he had no immediate use for.

His glance seemed to energize the stall owner, who thought he had found a kindred spirit. This "Master Lee Handsome" had a very plain face. He looked at Kaito and said, "Looks like you're a fan, too. What do you say? How can you come to a hellhole like the Nexus and not have an infinite ammo Desert Eagle?"
"Since we're both fans, I'll give you a special price. Only 2000 Dimensional Points."
The price wasn't particularly expensive, but Kaito already had the blue-quality [Misfortune's Knock]. If he switched to this Desert Eagle, he would have to start training his marksmanship proficiency from scratch.
Kaito shook his head. A light flashed in his hand, and he produced an item. "Since we're both fans," he said, a sly grin in his voice, "I'm sure you won't be able to resist the temptation of dual-wielding Gauss Pistols with Gun Kata in the future, right? In his hand was the [Dual Wielding Proficiency Scroll]. It wasn't an incredibly valuable item, but since it could unlock a new proficiency, it was worth more than a simple consumable or a weapon with no special effects.
Lee Handsome hadn't expected someone to try and sell him an item at his own stall, let alone another "Terror Infinity fan." And coincidentally, he was indeed planning to develop in the direction of dual-wielding. He had recently gotten a chance to acquire the [Gunslinger] class.
So, after a brief cough, he accepted the premise. "3000 Dimensional Points. How about it? A proficiency scroll like this isn't particularly rare."
Kaito had no idea of the actual price, but he still shook his head. It was a basic negotiating tactic: you must always refuse the first offer.
Lee Handsome clicked his tongue, about to continue haggling, when Kaito pointed at the items on his stall. "I want this [High-Speed Hemostatic Spray] and these [High-Explosive Grenades]. Two sets of each. How about it?"
Lee Handsome was a staunch [Tech-side] Reincarnator. He thought that the Reincarnators who wasted their early stages learning all sorts of martial arts and special abilities were all idiots. Why risk your life getting into close combat with a plot character when you could just solve the problem with a single bullet? So, you have a Strength over 10 and can punch with a thousand pounds of force? Great. You can snap a thin tree trunk. One of my high-explosive grenades can deal devastating damage to all enemies in a ten-meter radius.
Because of this philosophy, he had not only specialized his private room for manufacturing, but had also purchased a large number of blueprints. He was a special type of Reincarnator who supported himself through crafting.

A torrent of white data erupted from his private space, instantly overwhelming his senses. He stood motionless, his brain unable to even think due to the massive information overload, completely unaware of the transition of space and time.
He didn't know how long had passed. It could have been an instant, or an eternity. Kaito suddenly opened his eyes. A rich floral scent made him wrinkle his nose.
The sky was dim, with only a few faint rays of yellow sunlight lingering on the horizon. He was surrounded by a deep forest. The trees were tall, mostly seven or eight meters high, with dense foliage that made the woods feel even more secluded. The ground was covered in dry, decaying leaves. If it weren't for the strong floral scent, the place would probably have an overwhelming stench of rot.
Kaito stood up and noticed several other figures nearby, each maintaining a distance of several meters from the others.
A multiplayer mission this time?

As night began to fall, a murder of crows let out a series of unpleasant cries, circling once before flying off into the distance.

Someone spoke. Kaito looked over and saw a tall figure wearing a large, conical kasa hat, his back to him. A long tachi was slung at his waist.

Kaito noted that there were seven people in total, including himself. Four of them were standing in two pairs, apparently having entered as a team. The man in the kasa hat, Kaito, and a young woman with black-framed glasses were all solo.
They all exchanged glances. The solo woman silently moved to the side, positioning herself near Kaito and the kasa-hat man, creating a subtle standoff against the two teams.
At that moment, the mission information began to appear.

"Demon Slayer, huh? The world difficulty isn't high. Good thing I bought two [Slave Shackles]. I'm going to make a killing this time," one of the Reincarnators from the pair furthest from Kaito said, as if no one else was there, and whistled.
Kaito also smiled.
Yes, he thought. This world is perfect.
