Charles wasn't himself after those brutal words. He tried telling himself that it was okay—that maybe the fault lay with the other guy. Maybe the guy was the one who needed help, maybe he couldn't even get it up. He tried to rationalize it, but the pains from his past attacked anyway.
"You're one ugly duckling. Who would want a person like you? I would rather die than spend seconds with you." He kept remembering those painful words.
Charles stood up but staggered back down; he needed someone to take him away from this place. He needed to pour his heart out, so he reached for his phone, crying hard.
Why me, Lord? Why me? Am I really that undesirable? Was he right all along—that no matter what I do, I will never find someone who truly loves me? The thought shattered his heart. Despite having Draven and Daniel, they couldn't be by his side forever. A day would come when they would be too busy with their own families, and he would be totally forgotten.
