Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 9:THE GIRL WITH THE ATTITUDE

I took a taxi to my new hostel — Founders Hall. I gave the driver the address: 120 East 12th Street, Manhattan, NY 10003 — just near Union Square and close to Washington Square Park.

After a short ride, we arrived. I was marveled. When I stepped out, I just stood there staring like a tourist. The building didn't even look like a hostel — more like a mini hotel squeezed between tall glass offices. I checked the address again: 120 East 12th Street. Yup. This was it. My new home in New York City.

Inside, the hallway smelled like cinnamon and sanitizer. A girl with pink braids rolled past me on skates. My roommate hadn't arrived yet, so I dropped my bags, sat on the bed, and just… breathed. For the first time in months, I felt like maybe… just maybe… I was finally going to be noticed.

I toured the room. It was a real NYU freshman dorm — clean, modern, and right in the heart of the city. Rooms were suite-style, with shared bathrooms and a common area.

Since my roommate hadn't come yet, I started unpacking my things into the wardrobe — one after the other. Gosssssh, the wardrobe was big! But I was nervous. I couldn't stop imagining what my roommate looked like. Was she tall? Slim? Chubby? Kind? Hmmm… I guess I'd find out soon.

After unpacking, I found something small to eat. Tomorrow would be my first day at NYU, and honestly, I had no idea what was waiting for me.

Around 6, almost 7, I heard noise outside. I was in the bathroom, so I rushed out — only to see a very beautiful lady standing there. Wow! She was really beautiful. Her almond-shaped eyes… wow. And she was staring at me too.

Well, I guess I had to introduce myself.

"My name is Racheal… I'm your new roommate," I said with a smile.

"Whatever," was all she said.

Wow. What an attitude for such a beautiful lady. Haha.

After the awkward introduction, I went back to my room to change. And then — loud music. Eii, the loud music coming from her room! Hmm. I guess I'll have to manage for now. Maybe she just wasn't used to living with a stranger.
