Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 – Winds of the Sea

The dawn broke over the small Marine island in gentle hues of pink and gold. Magnus stood at the edge of the dock, the wooden planks cool beneath his bare feet. His small fingers traced the ropes of a tightly coiled sail, his blue eyes fixed on the horizon where the sky met the water.

Today, the family his father, mother, Darius, and sister would set out for Loguetown. The trip would be short compared to the Grand Line, but for Magnus, the thrill of venturing into the open sea for the first time made his chest tighten with anticipation.

"Magnus, are you ready?" Darius called, adjusting the small satchel slung over his shoulder. His grin was playful, but his eyes showed a hint of pride.

Magnus nodded, a quiet determination settling over him. "Ready."

The small boat rocked gently as they pushed off from the dock. Salt-laden wind whipped through Magnus's hair, tugging at his clothes, carrying the cries of gulls and the faint clamor of the harbor fading behind them. He pressed both hands to the railing, leaning forward, eyes scanning the endless blue.

The sea… it's bigger than I imagined.

He inhaled deeply, feeling the rhythm of the waves, the pulse of life in the water beneath the hull. Observation Haki tingled faintly, sensing the subtle currents, the distant movement of a few small fish near the surface, and even the faint pull of the wind against the sails. Every detail was alive.

Darius leaned over beside him, pointing toward a gull circling above. "First time on the open sea, little brother? You're taking it all in, huh?"

Magnus smiled faintly. "It's… amazing. The water… the wind… everything feels alive."

Their mother, sitting a few steps behind, gave him a soft smile. "It's beautiful, isn't it? And dangerous too. But with your father here, you'll be safe."

Magnus's father nodded, eyes scanning the horizon. "Keep your wits about you,Magnus.

The sea is always teaching lessons. Watch, feel, and remember."

Hours passed as the coastline of their island slipped behind them. Magnus's mind wandered through the implications of Roger's execution, the coming chaos, and the strategies that might unfold. But amid the calculations, he allowed himself brief moments of wonder as the sunlight glittering on the waves, the gentle sway of the boat, the distant cries of seabirds.

Finally, the outline of Loguetown appeared on the horizon, buildings rising from the cliffs like a jagged crown, the docks crowded with ships and people. Magnus's eyes widened, taking in the bustle of commerce, the colorful flags snapping in the wind, and the sheer scale of the town he had only read about in stories.

As the boat drew closer, Magnus could feel the pulse of life the flow of countless intentions, ambitions and tensions.

Observation Haki stirred in response, highlighting the subtle hostility of a few men lingering near crates, the hurried energy of merchants, and the relaxed confidence of patrolling Marines.

Darius leaned closer, whispering with a grin, "Welcome to Loguetown, Magnus. It's a different world out here, huh?"

Magnus swallowed, his blue eyes scanning the town with a mixture of awe, excitement, and quiet calculation. "Yes… it's… exactly like I imagined… and nothing like I imagined."

His mother gently took his hand, and his father's large hand rested briefly on his shoulder. Magnus felt the warmth of family around him, grounding him even as the town buzzed with unpredictable energy. He allowed himself one small, determined smile.

This is where it begins… the first chapter of the story I already know. And I will watch, learn, and understand every moment of it.
