Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 – Calculations and Resolve

The evening air hung heavy with the scent of salt and smoke from the harbor fires.

Magnus sat cross-legged on the edge of the courtyard wall, fingers drumming lightly against his knees. The family had finished dinner, but the chatter around the table felt distant to him. His mind was alive as he was racing through possibilities, strategies, and outcomes.

Roger's execution… the Pirate King…

Magnus's blue eyes narrowed, recalling everything he knew from Earth. The legends, the arcs, the stories he had read and memorized. The final words of Gol D. Roger had always sparked the age of piracy in the manga and here, it was real, and Magnus could already feel the shift rippling across the seas.

Every pirate crew, every Marine, every dreamer with a ship as they're going to head for the Grand Line. Chaos will spread. Territories will shift. The seas… the world… it will never be the same.

He pressed a hand to his forehead, trying to contain the storm of thoughts. Observation Haki stirred faintly in response to the life around him as well the sailors moving at the docks, the patrolling Marines, the occasional merchant scurrying past.

Magnus sensed the subtle tension, the ripple of excitement and fear that would surge once the news spread.

Then he stood abruptly, small boots clattering against the wooden planks.

"Father," he said, voice urgent but steady. "I need to go. To Loguetown. I have to see the execution…myself."

His father paused, eyes widening slightly. "Magnus… it's dangerous. You're only six. The seas are no place for a child alone, especially now."

Magnus's gaze hardened, dark and unwavering. "I know! That's why I'll go with you, or with Darius, or… someone responsible. I need to see it happen. I need to understand the world if I want to prepare for it."

Darius, who had been leaning against the fence, crossed his arms, eyebrows raised. "Magnus… you really mean it? You want to watch the Pirate King die?"

Magnus's lips pressed together. "Yes."

Everything starts there. The map of the future, the chaos, the power balance… I need to see it to know what comes next. And I won't let anyone stop me."

His mother stepped closer, her hands clasped over her chest. "It's dangerous, Magnus… but I can see why you feel that way. Just… promise me you'll be careful. Don't take unnecessary risks."

Magnus nodded solemnly as his small frame was radiating both seriousness and anticipation. "I understand, Mother. But I have to see this. I have to know where everything begins."

His father exhaled slowly, placing a hand on Magnus's."Very well… but only with us by your side. You're not going alone."

Magnus's eyes gleamed, a mixture of excitement and quiet calculation. The world was about to change, and for the first time, he would witness history unfold not as a reader, not as a child imagining it, but as a participant.

The sunset cast long shadows over the courtyard, golden and fiery, as if the world itself anticipated the beginning of the pirate era. Magnus clenched his fists lightly, feeling the faint stir of Observation Haki along his senses, ready to perceive, to learn, and to grow.

The age of pirates had begun and Magnus would see it with his own eyes.
