Hell's Kitchen 8:56.am (domingo).
In a certain defective's apartment, she is currently sleeping. Some of her clothes were scattered on the floor, along with a couple of beer cans. Jessica had her face on the pillow and seemed fast asleep. The woman would have slept longer if it weren't for her alarm clock, which was making a loud noise that she found annoying.
The incessant sound of the alarm clock was such that Jessica, taking her hand out of the depths of her comfortable bed, closed her palm to subtly destroy the device that at that moment had become her great mortal enemy and ended up shattered.
-Ugh... Jessica muttered as she got up from her pillow, noticing her hair was completely messy and crazy, as well as a severe headache from the hangover.-What time is it?
The woman, grumbling, reached for her phone to see that it was almost 9 a.m. She stood up and turned her back, sighing in relief. Next time, she'll drink less to avoid these kinds of hangovers.
"Okay, time to call that idiot in tights," Jessica said, unlocking her phone and searching for Peter's contacts.
The phone rang for a few seconds, but there was no answer, which was strange, as it usually happens whenever Jessica calls Peter. He would answer instantly, but today, it seemed, he didn't. She assumed he was still asleep, and that was common among boys his age, who tend to sleep later.
Even so, Jessica wasn't feeling very well. Peter wasn't answering her calls, and right now she needed him to go to that place where they kept the weapons and other drugs that could go anywhere in the city. She'd need proof if she wanted to catch Hammerhead once and for all. She insisted on calling him like four times.
"Answer me, damn it..." Jessica said to herself, waiting for the boy to answer the call.
Nothing, he's still not responding, and Jessica didn't understand a damn thing about what that brat was doing, so she wouldn't have to take a super-important call? She'd never know, and the best thing would be to call him around 10 a.m. That would give him time to get ready, even though it's not her custom to do so.
Poor him, if he doesn't answer my next call I'll leave him unable to walk for a month - He thought with annoyance as he threw his phone on the bed and went to the bathroom.
Parker Home, 10:04am
"Okay, just a little bit more and I'll be done," Peter said, finishing his homework. He had had a sleepless night because of what happened last night.
"I hope nothing crazy happens today," the spider thought excitedly, seeing that it was about to end.
Nothing could stop him from achieving the glory of finishing the math exercises!
RING RING.
Or maybe not. Peter just looked at his phone on the table in confusion to see who it was, and to his surprise, it was Jessica Jones. What does she want at this time of the morning? The brunette wondered, shaking his head several times to grab his phone, putting it to his right ear.
-Alo?-Dice Peter.
-Hello? Miss Jessica?
"Why the hell haven't you answered me? I've been calling you for a few minutes now!" Jessica yelled, and the brunette had to pull the phone away from his ear.
-Excuse me, I was, um...focused on my schoolwork and didn't realize you called me. He apologizes nervously.
"You're a real snotty case. But I'll let you slide this time. Besides, who the hell thinks of doing homework on Sundays?" Jessica's tone sounded as if saying the word "homework" was something she'd choke on.
-Since I was a kid. I always liked doing homework on the weekends. It's not as bad as it seems.
On the other end of the line Jessica just laughed sarcastically.
"Tell me, don't you value your life? I never call anyone," the woman slammed. the boy with her words. "You're one of the few sons of bitches I call, and you have the balls not to answer when I call you. And when I do, your job is more important?"
....I mean, it's not that it's more important, but I need to get good grades or else I'm going to be in trouble. Peter said, laughing nervously.
"You're a real case, piece of shit," Jessica hissed, and the guy looked at his phone with sweat running down his forehead. "The next time you don't answer me and you see more missed calls from me, you'll lose the only thing that makes you a man. Understood, Parker?"
-Y-Yes, I understand...and you called me about the matter of... But before he could finish, Jessica interrupted him.
-The main base that Hammerhead has and while you were sleeping like a baby I've been investigating the place and it seems that what that idiot said is true Peter just listened attentively I'll give you the address and you better get there on time or else you'll see what I'll do to you.
The brunette looked at the homework for a few seconds. He still had some exercises to finish and would like to continue, but he didn't want to further. anger Jessica. It scared him a little, and he had no choice but to leave it for later. The first thing he needed to do was help Jessica with the important facility the big-headed mobster had.
The brunette is still waiting for a response from the arachnid, who sighed tiredly. "Okay, I'll be there as soon as possible. Give me the address."
-Tsk, you better be early, see you in an hour. And with that the other line hung up, Peter looked at his cell phone for several seconds before smashing his forehead against his desk.
-"I hate my luck..."-Peter thought, seeing himself in such a situation where he was sincerely doubting even wanting to continue, but his sense of responsibility got the better of him and he went to put on his suit.
The brunette looked at his suit, which was actually more than pajamas. In fact, he had used it to confront the Vulture and without needing to use the other suit, which belonged to Stark. By the way, when he went to the Avengers complex, Tony offered him to join the team and even showed him a new advanced suit that was called the Iron Spider.
Peter didn't deny that he looked pretty cool but technology wasn't his thing and he preferred something simpler and refused to join the Avengers to the surprise of the philanthropist and he had his own reasons for doing so.
He didn't want to neglect his city, nor did he want to wear that suit because he didn't feel ready to be part of something bigger. He decided to become a street hero where he could prove himself and be known by the world for his great deeds, When Tony heard the boy's wise words, he respected his decision and wanted to give him the suit he used in Civil War, but Peter rejected him anyway. He didn't want anything to do with the Avengers, even though he knew that the fight between the two sides was completely stupid, especially because of the agreements.
Their greatest idols fought to the death to win the battle, but what none of them knew was that the damn politicians had control over the heroes of what used to be a private society. They were the fucking avengers, acting like immature children, getting carried away by disagreements when they should have resolved them at a table, which was so difficult.
There are days when he completely regrets having participated in that fight, perhaps it was because of the excitement of the moment and because Tony blackmailed him into telling his aunt that he was Spiderman if he didn't participate in the war.
Peter sighed as he changed his clothes and put on his mask, he saw his phone shake and realized it was Jessica sending him the address of where he had to go.
The other was the detective, Peter honestly didn't know what to think about it since he knew that Jessica and he, due to their work methods, are like water and oil, he didn't know very well how to deal well with the woman's attitude and personality that things became more complicated than they should have been, as if she were a time bomb.
Of course, she apparently knows Daredevil and has impressive strength, so the less he angered her, the better, although I doubted it seeing that Jessica tends to be somewhat complex and that was demonstrated when they went looking for clues last time.
The spider shook his head and grabbed his phone to fly out the window, thanking his aunt that she wouldn't be there all day because she had to work.
I just prayed that everything would turn out well with the woman.
it took him half an hour to reach the address, and he landed on a rooftop to get a better look at the place. There were two men there who were very suspicious and had firearms with them. Peter wasn't worried about that since they were guarding the entrance to the place. What he was worried about was that there were several thugs inside waiting to kill them.
From a great distance, Deade could spot Jessica, hiding behind a wall with a stoic expression on her face, and she glanced at the two thugs. Luckily, neither of them noticed her presence.
Jessica raised her gaze slightly to see Spiderman standing on a rooftop, staring at her. A small smile appeared on her lips; this guy certainly never disappoints when it comes to being on time. She gestured for him to follow her so they could plan their next attack. Spidey nodded, firing a web and heading to Jessica at the back of the warehouse.
Spidey released the web and fell in a pirouette to land next to Jessica. He looked at her expectantiv for some reaction, but all he got was a raised eyebrow in response.
-... Nothing? Not a single reaction?
"I don't have time for your circus nonsense," Jessica declared, grabbing him by the collar of his sweater and forcibly pulling it down, earning a "HEY!" from him, and she began to whisper.
-Listen, there are some guards with guns surrounding the place, I estimate about 6 of them, which seems strange considering it's Hammerhead's central base.
"Maybe he gave his workers a vacation," the spider shrugged, and the detective snorted.
Anyway, can you take care of the guards outside?
Spiderman turned his gaze to the large warehouse, there were two guards watching the giant door of the warehouse, the boy turned to see Jessica and winked at her to shoot a spider web and go to the roof of the warehouse.
Jessica with an interested face saw how Peter shot a spider web from his wristbands somewhat close to one of the guards causing him to inspect what the noise was, then changing her look to an impressed one when she saw that the guard went to where his partner was who had stayed watching the door to see that he shot a spider web at his foot to lift him into the air and wrap him in a cocoon of spider webs leaving him stuck to the ceiling to quickly shoot two long spider webs where the other guy was who when he turned around, he met a double kick from Spiderman knocking him out in one.
-"I must admit that the boy has his thing" Jessica thought smiling slightly as she jumped and went to where the spider was.
"This was a piece of cake," Spiderman said, putting his hands on his hips.
-Don't celebrate, there are still about four guards left and I'll take care of them. I point to the aforementioned guards who are guarding the other part of the place, something that Peter almost forgot.
Are you sure you don't want help?
"With these useless people? I don't think so," she replied.
"I'm sure I feel sorry for those guys now," Peter said, making another joke that the woman didn't respond to. "Come on, at least laugh a little, or you'll have gray hair."
"I already told you your silly jokes don't work on me. So give up on that," Jessica said with some annoyance.
The arachnid just crosses his arms and leans against the wall, telling her to go knock out the other thugs while he waits. Jessica denied this slightly, as she crept toward the men who were chatting about unimportant things. The biggest mistake thugs make is always being distracted.
Two of the subjects with their machine guns were speaking in Italian, Jessica really cared little or nothing, so without giving them time to react, she grabbed both heads, making them hit hard, causing them to faint from the strong impact of their skulls.
Then Jessica ran towards where another guard was who, when he turned. around, all he saw was counting the stars as the detective's fist hit his face and then she proceeded to grab a strong and effortless metal lid, throwing it like a Frisbee at the face of the last guard, causing him to fall on the ground, grunting in pain.
"Tights! You can come in!" Jessica half-shouted, looking around, frowning at the practically empty place.
Spiderman walked in while whistling and saw the men on the floor, but what stood out most was that the place seemed as empty as its appearance gave it; a warehouse where you would never realize someone had an illegal secret base there.
-Um, there's nothing here, Jess. The spider said sincerely.
"I saw that!" Jessica shouted, rushing over to the man who threw the disc at her. He was trying to stop his nosebleed. She picked him up, causing him to let out a cry of surprise. "Why is this place empty?"
The guy simply gave her the middle finger with a mocking smile on his face, which ended up angering Jessica and causing her to give her a big punch, drawing blood from her mouth.
"Tell me!!! Or I'll tear your eyes out if you don't tell me," Jessica threatened angrily.
-Y-You're...a...complete useless...my boss won this game...and you lost...hehe
-And you will lose your life, you damned wretch.
"Jessica, don't wait!" Peter shouts, grabbing her shoulder. "He might be hiding somewhere in the warehouse. We have to be smart and look for those weapons shipments."
The woman stares at Peter for a few seconds, then looks back at the man, who could barely breathe. Jessica sighs heavily and throws the thug to the ground.
You're right, that idiot probably hid everything in a warehouse, and in his office, you might find evidence of him negotiating with several mobsters.
See? We have to think positively. I'll go to the vault while you check the office.
-Okay, but first let me turn on the lights, this place is so fucking dark -Jessica answers since she couldn't see much of anything.
The brunette turned on a flashlight she carried in her jacket and looked for a switch since the place was dark and when she found it she turned on the lights.
The arachnid went to the vault but when he arrived he was confused seeing that there was nothing there, it was completely empty.
On the other hand, Jessica kicked down the door and entered Hammerhead's office, scanning for boxes or any kind of drug delivery, but there were none.
-You didn't understand, the jackpot was supposed to be here...please, it's impossible for it to have vanished overnight..
But he did see something peculiar, and it was some kind of box. He opened it, but upon seeing what was inside, his jaw tensed, and his fists clenched, his knuckles going white. The young man from Queens entered the office, bumping into Jessica kneeling on the floor and hearing her labored breathing.
"Did you find anything?" Peter asked, approaching the brunette, even though something told him not to. "I went to the vault and everything was taken out. I think it was recently."
The boy was sweating cold, he wondered if it was advisable to approach the woman who seemed stiff in her place and Spidey felt in a certain way like an aura of fury surrounded the woman, he cautiously approached until he was next to Jessica and saw the contents of the box, only for "his eyes" to open when he saw a small note at the bottom of it.
"Good luck to the next bitch"
-"Oh mom" - Spidey thought, already putting together the loose ends of what could have happened. On his last raid, someone had surely passed the word to the head of the hunt that the detective and the boy were against him and he had surely moved all the things from the main base, leaving the place completely empty for when they were going to arrive.
That sucked to be honest, his luck was playing tricks on him.
-E-Um... Jessica? Are you okay? - Spidey asked as he raised his hand to try to touch the brunette's shoulder.
But as soon as she touched his shoulder, Jessica abruptly pulled the arachnid's hand away and grabbed the box, only to slam it against the wall, destroying it. The brunette understood that Jessica's anger was about to be unleashed. They came all the way here for nothing, and at that moment, our young hero didn't know what to do to deal with the woman.
"You son of a bitch!" she exclaimed furiously as she smashed a wooden chair in front of her. "I knew we were coming from the start, and like a complete idiot, I fell right into his trap!"
-Calm down, Jess, you don't have to be so upset. You just have to look for clues where they went and....
"Shut up!" Jessica roared, causing Spidey to step back a little with her loud scream.
-Jess calm down, there's no need to....
-I always knew it was a bad idea to count on you! A piece of shit rookie who has no business dealings with this underworld of crime! I told you I'd rather work alone, but no! Let's try to partner up to catch that damn Hammerhead! It was an investigation of mine, and I've been investigating it for months, only for you to come and screw it up with your "leave the bastards unharmed". policy. Look where this led us! They told Hammerhead we were coming here, and look! THERE'S NOTHING HERE! THIS PLACE IS EMPIER THAN SHIT ITSELF!
Jessica screamed to grab the table and the box on top of it and throw it hard at the wall, destroying it in the process. She faced Spiderman, who remained silent throughout the detective's screaming.
"Listen carefully! You and I no longer! You'll go back to helping old ladies cross the street and getting cats down from trees, while I'll keep doing my job!" she shouted, emphasizing the point by rubbing her finger against the spider's chest.
-Ahm...-I didn't know what word to articulate.
Spiderman tilted his head a little sadly, gently took Jessica's hand to move it away from his chest and sighed.
-Okay, I'm sorry for...damaging your research Jessica, I'm really sorry.
Peter concluded, putting his hands in his pockets and walking away, leaving an irate Jessica alone, breathing heavily and with dilated eyes, not knowing why she was more bothered by the fact that Spiderman accepted without much complaint that she had removed him from the investigation and why she was more bothered by having made him sad in the end. Jessica had a knack for alienating people around her.
"This is bullshit!" Jessica said to herself as she slammed her fist against a concrete wall, cracking it, while gritting her teeth in anger.
It certainly wasn't a good afternoon for Jessica, nor for Peter Parker himself. Everything went to hell, and the woman was right: if the arachnid had never interfered that night when they met, none of this would have happened, and it's likely that Jones will succeed in putting Hammerhead behind bars.
The chestnut tree thought it would be best to leave her alone and not get in the way anymore.
An hour later, Peter decides to go on patrol to forget about the bad time he had with his former "partner" and to stop a couple of petty thieves. It's a good idea. After all, he had nothing to do after tomorrow except return to his usual, typical, everyday life.
Spiderman swung between buildings, deep in thought. The defective's words hurt him more than he expected because they were partly true. He'd never fought underworld criminals in his life, and like Jessica said, he only stopped netty thefts or helped the elderly cross the street. There's nothing wrong with that, but he knew he could do more than that.
It's not the first time someone has belittled his work as a vigilante. For a year now, Spiderman has received the worst criticism, especially from a certain guy with a Hitler mustache who's starting to irritate him.
Later, 6:05 p.m.
While with Jessica things weren't any easier in a way, after spending a whole day investigating non-stop and working on one or another case of infidelity, also with the bitter memory of the argument she had or rather the recriminations she made to Peter, while she was walking and came across the first liquor store in the area, she didn't hesitate to enter with a sour face, scaring the few customers that were inside the place, without hesitation she took two bottles: one of rum and one of vodka to take them to the counter and put them in front of the employee of the establishment.
A-Ahm
"Take my money and shut up," the detective, prostrate on the counter, snarled loudly, clutching a $20 bill, then grabbed both bottles and left.
"Did her boyfriend leave her?" the employee couldn't help thinking as she shook her head.
it wouldn't take long for Jessica to arrive at her apartment and kick open the door. Jessica didn't give a damn if her neighbors cursed her mother for the noise. Without hesitation, the woman threw her purse onto the couch and placed both bottles on her kitchen table. Then she took off her black leather jacket, her boots flew out until they crashed against the wall, and she took off her pants, leaving her only in black panties and leaving on her loose white short-sleeved shirt.
She grabbed the bottle of rum and, opening the cap, didn't hesitate to drink from it in one go, trying to forget the bad memory she had earlier with Peter.
Jessica was looking to relieve that discomfort but she didn't know that it would only increase as she drank the two bottles of alcohol.
Parker Residence 6:28 pm.
Peter just got back from his patrol car and climbed in through the window like he always does. May never gets upset when he does that. He took off his mask, revealing a slightly sad face. He hasn't been like that since...his uncle died.
He was a happy boy who couldn't get rid of the optimism that characterized him, but now that was on the floor.
"It's been a busy afternoon. I didn't expect her to act that way...I don't care anymore."
Let Jessica do as she pleases. It's her investigation after all, and if she thinks she's a nuisance, then she can go to hell. She knew from the start that offering her help to catch Hammerhead was a bad idea. Now, because of her, they were getting further and further from being able to arrest the dangerous mobster.
Peter took off the top of his suit, leaving him shirtless, showing off his athlete's body while cracking his back and hands as he sighed and sat down to take off his shoes. It wasn't until May opened his door without knocking that he got scared.
"Geez, May, knock on the door," Peter laughed, rubbing his neck in embarrassment.
"I've raised you almost my whole life, I have the right to enter without knocking anyway," the woman snorted, crossing her arms and then, being as perceptive as she is, she noticed her nephew's downcast form. "Hey, honey, did something happen?"
"Is it that obvious?" Peter thought, sighing as he looked up at the ceiling and then at May with a somewhat defeated smile.
"Come on, tell me, did they take away your first place in science?" May asked with an amused smile. "Or was it some girl who got you in that state?"
-More or less Tia...how can I say it, ehm...
Come on, you can tell me Petey The man takes the brown-haired boy in a sign of support.
-She and I...were assigned a school project...but everything didn't go well and...she got mad at me...she said things I didn't want to say, so I ended up screwing her over.
I understand, and who is that girl?
"You don't know her, she lives in Hell's Kitchen and...she's not having such a good time, so to speak...now she hates me for ruining the project and I highly doubt there's any solution to this problem," Peter explained, his gaze lowered.
-So he's from Hell's Kitchen... wait a minute, isn't that where that Daredevil guy comes from? N-May asked, then shook her head and got back to the point.- Ok, let's forget about that, I think... there's only one way to see what happens next, Peter....
"Oh yeah? And what is it?" Peter asked, genuinely curious, and felt May's hands gently caress his brown hair.
-Not all of us are perfect in this life, all human beings always make mistakes. and it is our duty to at least try to correct them. May explained, looking her nephew in the eyes. - It was surely the heat of the moment, Peter. Just give her some time and I am absolutely sure she will come to you.
Peter thought about his aunt's words, then hugged the woman, surprising her in the process.
-You are... a great mother May, I love you so much-At those words the Italian woman couldn't help but feel her eyes glaze over.
-You are the son I could never have and I love you anyway, Peter-He reciprocates his nephew's hug and gives him a kiss on the cheek.
They both remained like that for a few seconds, but for Peter, they felt like they lasted forever. One thing he admired about his aunt was the good advice she gave him. It reminded him a bit of his uncle. They ended up breaking away from the hug. May got out of bed and headed for the bedroom door, but not before asking him.
"Do you want me to make you something?" She turned her head to look at her nephew, who shook his head with a smile that was even more animated thanks to the woman.
-No thanks May, I have homework to do.
"Okay, if you need anything just call me," he said with a smile as he left the room and closed the door.
RING RING,
Peter, with his hands on his waist, raised an eyebrow as he saw his phone wobble on the bed because someone was calling him, he went and picked up the device to answer.
-Hello?
-Fatty! Thank God you answered. Look, I have a question for you...
"Oh, Ned, hello," Peter said, lying down on his bed while talking to his best friend. "What can I do for you?"
-'It's something of the utmost importance.
-Aha, tell me what it is?
-...How are we going to build the Harry Potter Lego castle?"
-"Does it even matter with everything that's happening to me?" Peter thought, his face blank as he stared at his phone screen.
"You owe me one, remember? I covered for you with your aunt, so I expect something in return," Ned said as if it were an order, and the brunette frowned.
"Man, covering my back was useless because he finally found me," Peter complained seriously.
"I'm sorry about that, but what did you expect me to do? I'm too young to be dying at the hands of a woman who could intimidate the Hulk himself," his friend said jokingly.
-Anyway Ned, tomorrow after school I'll help you put it together, you have my word-Said Peter
Great!!! Hey, I didn't ask you before, but how's it going with being Spiderman? Any interesting enemies?
"Not at the moment," Peter replied. "After what happened with Toomes, no crazy guy in a suit has appeared looking to destroy the city."
-I understand you, so for the moment you are the neighborhood spider.
"It's not as boring as it sounds. It's better than fighting bigger guys who can crush me," Peter joked, sitting on the edge of the bed.
-Peter, you're too strong for them to do that to you.
-Whatever, old man, I have homework to do, see you at school tomorrow. -He says goodbye to hang up the call and leaves his phone on the bed.
How could the relationship between him and Jessica be affected by just one day? He'd never know; Parker's luck tends to be a problem. Anything that happens is always bad, and Peter would just wait for things to calm down.
Your aunt was right it was the heat of the moment and it does happen from time to time.
But if it's the same Jessica, it would be impossible to expect an apology from her. She supposedly never does one and just tells the person who knows her to fuck off. Whether it's a colleague or a friend, it's even more important that she doesn't have a partner. Who can deal with her? No one.
-..."Although to be honest, whether it's my luck, Parker, or not, I don't really understand women," Peter thought, finishing a few chemical formulas in less than five seconds each. He also remembered to perfect the new formula for his web-shooters, half-sticking his tongue out in the middle of his concentration.
RIN RING RING.
"Heh? What does that Ned want now?" Peter asked himself as he answered without seeing who had called. "Tell me, Ned, do you need to know anything else about the Lego castle?"
Ned? Since when do I have a penis that you call me Ned, brat?
Jessica Jones's slurred voice made the boy quickly pull his phone away from his ear to see that it was indeed the detective who had called.
Jessica? Is that you?
-No, I'm Carlos Santanaaa-Peter, I miss youeee... -Peter just had a blank face without emotions, not knowing what to do at this moment until he became confused.
Something was wrong. Jessica sounded very strange. Just a few hours ago, she'd yelled at him and told him to go to hell, only for her to say she missed him? I couldn't understand anything, and maybe it was just one of her practical jokes.
"Jessica? Are you okay?" Peter asks.
-'HIC! Yes, why are you asking that?' -The woman said, eating a letter from that last word.
-W-Well... - The poor boy had a fine drop of sweat running down his neck. If he was honest, he had a suspicion about the detective's tone, but he wanted to be sure before accusing. -I don't know, you sound a bit strange. I think I dare say even drunk. Did you take-
-Nooooool Nopi, I'm not drunk... HIC! Well yes I am--Jessica giggled a few times, amused, something new for Peter to hear her like that since he always saw her furious, I think he preferred that new Jessica.
"I knew it," Peter thought with a 'WTF' expression on his face, not knowing what to say or do in a particular situation in his life; he, a teenage boy, was having a call with a drunk woman.
-Peter...about what happened a while ago .....- The woman in her drunken state searched for the right words to tell Peter what she felt.
He remembered the woman's harsh words and in his mind assumed Jessica was calling him about what had happened a few hours earlier at Hammerhead Air Force Base. He honestly felt a certain discomfort on his face. He hadn't expected her to call him so soon, especially when she was drunk.
-Don't worry, Miss Jones, you were absolutely right, it was my fault for ruining your investigation. There are no hard feelings, and I promise I'll stay away from your case and... - He is interrupted by Jessica.
-NO!-Peter startled-Let me talk... how do I start this? Oh yeah, I don't know how to do this... Jessica muttered while Peter waited patiently for the drunk woman to speak,- 'What I mean is... fuck! Wait there, I'll be right there!'
Peter could hear her leave her phone on the side of her table and then hear her swear several times and then "GLOP' several times, implying that the detective was drinking again. The brunette was only more stupefied by everything, but he didn't know whether to laugh because Jessica called him drunk or that she was drunk enough to continue drinking with him on the phone.
-Phew, god much better-
"Jessica... how much did you take?" Peter asked, scratching his head..
"I don't know? Like... almost two bottles. I left one half-finished, so I was responsible," the woman said, almost proudly.
"No, that was irresponsible, Jessica. How could you possibly think of drinking three bottles?" Peter asked, exasperated, slapping himself in the face. if it were possible, he swore the detective clicked her tongue in annoyance.
"You're not the one to tell me what I should or shouldn't do, anyway. I didn't call you to find out what I'm drinking, but to..." The woman sighed. "Look, kid, I really feel bad about the things I said to you. I wasn't fair to you, and...about them emptying the whole place, it wasn't your fault, I..."
"If you're not good at apologizing, you don't have to do it," Peter said in a sympathetic manner.
-I have to...damn it's the first time I've said this to someone but...I'm sorry okay? I acted like a fucking crazy person again, in fact I always screw up. everything because of my impulsiveness, I'm a mess I admit it... Jessica was heard again taking another drink.
-Wow...I don't really know what to say, I never expected you to call me, let alone apologize to me Peter smiled.
"Don't screw this up," Jessica muttered, trying to get more alcohol to process what she was going to say. "Look, tights... ugh, I'm really sorry, so you're in on the investigation, okay? If you see me complaining, it's just me being a bitch. None of this is your fault."
... Why aren't you saying anything now?"
"Um, nothing, just that I didn't think you were the type to give second chances, Jess," Peter said, laughing softly, and he could hear the woman flinch indignantly. "But I appreciate the second chance."
-Tsk! If you screw up again you'll regret it, okay? Don't make me regret it, see you later-concluded the woman before hanging up and leaving a smiling Peter in his room as he left the phone on his desk and put his feet up on it and his hands behind his head with a victorious grimace.
"I owe a lifetime to May and her advice," Parker thought, although later that grimace transformed into one of not so much amusement because if Jessica called him tomorrow to meet up then he would be walking around with a hungover woman with a bad temper.
-... I hate my luck, but at the same time I love it. Peter laughed with a sigh.
The boy finished his homework and was about to go to sleep. It had been a peculiar and interesting night. He was glad Jessica had apologized, and the best part was that tomorrow they would continue the investigation, but it would be after school. Peter lay down on his bed and after a while, he fell into Morpheus's arms, falling deeply asleep.
10:33am, Jessica's Apartment.
Jessica's grunts as she vomited in her apartment's bathroom were all you could hear, the woman with her face pressed against the toilet emptying her stomach after literally knocking back three bottles of alcohol in one night, getting so drunk that it would put her in a bad mood.
-Ugh, like a demon....
The woman flushed the toilet and staggered with a horrible migraine, came out of the bathroom with two bags under her eyes, a black T-shirt, but no bra and black panties revealing her pale legs, as well as short stockings, the woman only managed to pass by the kitchen denoting three almost empty bottles and also noticed that she took out her sacred chest of whiskey, to which she sighed while she went for a headache pill and took it dry.
The brunette walked over to her couch and threw herself down on it with her head in shit to recap yesterday's events... which summed up that she was a fucking bitch to Peter who drove her to a state of total regret that made her drink like a devil the night before, she took out her cell phone to look at its contents and yep, the call to Peter was still there and if she was honest, that was the only thing she remembered from yesterday, besides having drunkenly texted Danny Rand saying that she was one of the toughest bitches in the world, to which he sarcastically replied to the message "And one of the drunkest and most unbearable too."
"I can't believe I'm drunk-calling a teenager. What's wrong with me?" Jessica murmured, remembering the reason Luke dumped her in the first place. Something about her being "a lost cause" was probably truer than she'd supposed. "And... I apologized to him? I never thought I'd do that, not even when I was drunk."
Jessica may be a tough and rude woman with others, but deep down she had a good side. She just needed to let it out, but she didn't want to and refused to change her ways. She chose her life and accepted it as it was, a simple freak.
Jessica didn't want to think about it any longer and stared at the ceiling for a few minutes, bored. In a few hours, she had to continue the investigation and start over, since the day before had been a failure. She knew that at this time of day, Peter was still at that school, which, by the way, the detective didn't like.
RING RING RING.
-Just the last person I had in mind... -
When she picked up her phone and saw that it was her half-sister Trish calling her, she hadn't spoken to her for a while, due to all her work and having ignored several of her messages, she assumed that she owed her, so preparing herself she answered. - Hello Trish.
-Hello Trish? Shit bitch, finally you decently answer -Said Trish, the brunette's sister who was younger by a few months and Jessica jumped indignantly.
Respect me, bitch. Who do you think is the older of the two of us?
-Oh come on, I know that Luke leaving you was a low blow but I'm your sister, you should at least answer me back' - She said -
"Sorry, but I was the one who left Luke, not him leaving me," Jessica lied shamelessly to hide her pride, which had been damaged by what Trish said, although she could easily see it.
"Yeah, sure, keep saying it until you believe it. Because we both know how that ended, Trish calmly emphasizes.
Damn, anyway, I've had a rough night and I'm not in the mood to listen to your sermons - Jessica says, running her hand through her hair.
-Don't tell me, you failed one of your many investigations, that's nothing new Jessica - Trish answers with an amused voice but the detective didn't even smile. Trish rolled her eyes on the other end of the line.
-I never fail.
"Jessica... Are your ovaries really that big to say that? You and I both know that 90% of your research fails," Trish said, half-mockingly.
"But there are some who do make progress! You see? I'm not a failure," Jessica laughed proudly.
"Sure, but sometimes your investigations are moving forward, or you end up in a fight in a dive bar, or almost dying because you're crazy... and I know you, you might have gotten drunk off your feet." Jessica held the phone away from her ear and gave her the finger of friendship. "I know you're giving me the finger, Jess, Stop doing that, you immature girl"
"Are you sure you don't have the power to see through things?" Jessica asked with a slight smile.
"I know every action you take, I don't need powers to know that. Tell me how it went with the Hammerhead thing?" Trish asked.
-More or less, I'm making good progress - Jessica lies, she was actually going backwards each time due to certain problems.
"So you're at 0, why doesn't that surprise me?" the woman on the other end of the line said sarcastically.
"Didn't you hear me? I told you I've made some progress! Have more faith in me, you're my sister, Jessica huffed as she sat down on her couch. When Trish didn't respond, she frowned. "You have faith in me, don't you?"
"Well, I'll be a bitch here; how can I have faith in a woman who's suicidal, emotionally disturbed, and a bit mentally challenged enough to catch a ghost like Hammerhead? Unless you have a partner, I doubt you can do much," the blonde woman said sincerely.
"She's a bitch," Jessica thought, a vein popping out as she clicked her tongue as she heard a thousand truths spewed through a cell phone. "You know what? Well, I have a partner who's been helping me a lot, and we almost caught that jerk red-handed!" Jessica half-shouted, not knowing why she spit that out.
-Wait a minute; Jessica Jones with a partner? Haven't you read enough Batman comics for that?' - Trish said, causing the brunette to lightly squeeze the device, causing the screen to crack a little from the pressure exerted by it 'Oh well, who is the poor devil who has the misfortune of working with you?
"That's none of your business, Trish, and if you think I can't catch a shitty mobster, you're sorely mistaken. You'll see on the news when they catch him and you'll tell me otherwise," Jessica countered with a forced smile that didn't give off a good vibe. "I have to go. I have to continue my investigation. See you, dear "little sister."
"What? Hey, wait, you haven't told me about your new partner yet..." He trailed off because Jessica had just hung up. It was fun to do that to her.
-Bitch... I'll show him - Jessica thought, huffing as she stood up, and as quickly as she did, her migraine returned and she lay down on the couch again to sleep and try to forget that yesterday she made a fool of herself by calling a pubescent teenager while drunk. Under no circumstances should Trish know that because instead of scolding her, she was going to laugh in her face with everything.
She just hoped things would turn out a little better for her since her life was a total mess, before falling into Morpheus' arms, she half smiled remembering the smile of a certain young brunette that drives her crazy.
Hammerhead's Lair.
"Your plan worked, sir. Jessica Jones took the bait," Hammerhead's secretary said, watching him smoke a top-quality cigar with a satisfied smile on his face.
"Excellent, with this, that woman will leave me alone for a few weeks until I figure out what to do with the merchandise," the mobster said, turning his head slightly. "And what about the spider? Any news?"
-Not yet, sir. We're trying to follow him, but he's very fast, and we don't know where he lives. He's out of our reach.
"Hmph, if I want those two out of my business, I must kill them, and my men will take care of the job. But if they fail me, I'll personally take care of this, and all that's left is for them to beg me for mercy, which I have none of."
"All right, sir. Enjoy your day. Call me when you need me." The secretary said, giving a small bow and leaving the mobster alone as he took a long drag of his tobacco and sighed happily.
"Ah, nothing like a good win during the day," Hammerhead said, smiling. "This will be so easy."
