Chapter 187 - Chapter 188: My Name is Polaris

Chapter 188: My Name is Polaris

Washington.

Middle school classroom.

All eyes turned to the new transfer student standing obediently beside the teacher, wearing a fresh uniform skirt and carrying a brand-new school bag.

Boys and girls alike couldn't help but light up with admiration.

Who could resist a delicate, doll-like girl with jade-green hair, fair skin as white as snow, and refined features that seemed carved with care?

"So pretty—like an angel!"

"She looks like the heroine of a fairytale…"

"Is that green hair natural? Looks just like Wanda's… so cool!"

In the back row by the window.

Wanda raised her scarlet eyes, gazing at the green-haired girl on the platform. Even though this was their first meeting, she couldn't shake a strange sense of familiarity.

"Quiet."

The female teacher pressed her hands down to settle the class, then turned warmly to the girl. "Lorna, you'll be sitting…"

Before she could finish, the girl named Lorna stepped down from the platform.

With every classmate watching in surprise, the hem of her black school skirt swayed softly as she strode forward. Her small hands clutched the straps of her schoolbag, her black boots tapping crisply until she reached the empty seat beside Wanda.

"I'm sitting here."

Her voice was soft, but carried an unquestionable tone.

"That seat is…"

The teacher faltered, then sighed helplessly.

Many students—even from other classes—had applied to sit there, but Wanda had silently vetoed them all.

The teacher wasn't about to risk offending the powerful forces behind Wanda.

But before she could speak, Wanda said calmly, "It's fine. Let her sit here."

"Thanks."

Lorna pulled out the chair and sat beside her.

"Cool!"

Several students instantly became her fans.

Now the quiet, reserved Wanda sat next to the cold, striking Lorna—both rare beauties, their features bearing a faint resemblance. Together, they turned that corner of the classroom into a dazzling scene.

"Very well," the teacher said with a resigned smile, already sensing another difficult student had joined her class.

Class continued.

"What's your name?" Lorna suddenly asked Wanda.

"Wanda Django Maximoff," Wanda answered softly.

"I'm Lorna. No last name…"

The green-haired girl paused, a flicker of sadness in her eyes. Then, thinking of someone, she quickly corrected herself.

"No—that's not right. My name is Lorna… Polaris."

Her light-green eyes glimmered. She unconsciously licked her lips, her little tongue peeking out before she bit down with her teeth.

Wanda tilted her head curiously.

What was she doing?

…

Meanwhile, at a nearby high school.

Xi Nian had no idea what was happening with Wanda.

He followed Felicia Hardy into a quiet, empty office.

"Sit down."

Felicia's tone was cool as she set her files aside. She lifted a glass of water and tilted her head to drink.

Whether by accident or intent, Xi Nian noticed a droplet slide from the corner of her glossed lips, tracing her pale jawline, down her neck, before disappearing beneath her slightly open blouse.

He quickly averted his gaze—only to see Felicia approaching.

Her silver hair shimmered as she placed the glass behind her, her long legs encased in tight jeans, her upper body leaning low over him.

Too close.

Xi Nian's pupils contracted as their noses nearly touched, her silvery eyes staring into his.

"Miss Felicia… isn't this a bit inappropriate…" he murmured, deliberately flustered like a student should be.

"It's fine," she said, her mature, magnetic voice carrying a sultry undertone. "I've already disabled the cameras. No one will disturb us."

Xi Nian blinked in surprise.

Felicia bent lower, brushing against him like a cat.

Her silver hair tickled his neck as she leaned in, sniffed lightly, then smiled in satisfaction.

"Not bad. You smell clean."

What kind of inspection was that? A predator checking her prey?

Xi Nian said nothing.

Ever since awakening her mysterious powers, Felicia had been acting strangely. Unlike the timid intern she had been just a month ago, she now exuded practiced seduction.

"I want to ask a favor."

She leaned close to his ear, her voice soft and lazy. "I need you to keep quiet about… that night."

Xi Nian said nothing.

She continued, "You were on a date with Diana, weren't you? Matching couple's outfits…"

Xi Nian's gaze chilled—but a sunny smile quickly replaced it.

"Miss Felicia, what are you talking about? I don't recall ever meeting you at night."

"…Good. That's how it should be." She smiled faintly.

But Xi Nian added lightly, "Funny—I saw a news report yesterday. A man killed in New York, during a robbery. Witnesses say the culprit was a silver-haired woman…"

Felicia's smile froze. Her pupils slit like a cat's before quickly returning to normal—but Xi Nian's Spider-Sense caught it.

"Very good, Xi Nian. You're sharper than I thought." Her voice dropped, cold and soft. "So… what do you want?"

"Anything I want?" he asked.

"…Anything."

Her breath brushed his ear as her husky voice dripped with temptation.

But Xi Nian saw through her. Unlike Cheetah or Black Widow, Felicia's act was clumsy, forced.

He suddenly smiled. "You said it yourself!"

In the next instant, his hand closed around her pale neck.

Felicia's eyes widened. Here? In school?

Her pupils became full cat's eyes, but she held back, conscious of the hidden camera she thought she had control over.

Xi Nian's grip tightened slightly, making her body tremble. With her enhanced senses, even a light touch sent shocks through her.

"Felicia."

He brushed her silver hair aside, his lips at her ear. His warm breath mirrored hers from moments ago.

"As long as you stop digging into my business—I'll keep your secret."

"What…? You mean, here? You…" Felicia's voice wavered. For a moment she thought he was like all other men—

But his next words cut cold.

"Stay out of my affairs."

With that, Xi Nian released her and walked out.

Felicia sat frozen, then hastily fixed her collar and turned to the camera.

"That brat… I won't forgive you," she hissed, her eyes glowing cold. "Once I control this… you'll do whatever I want."

From the start, she hadn't planned to hurt him—only to control him.

Her feline pride refused to leave her secret vulnerable. Seduction had been meant to trap him, to hold power over him.

But Xi Nian had turned the tables.

Still, the result was the same.

Felicia returned to her desk, quickly pulling up the surveillance feed to extract the video.

…

Outside the office, Xi Nian sighed, glancing at his hand. The faint warmth lingered.

He hadn't wanted to do that.

He'd been ready to promise to keep her secret.

But she had threatened him—brought up Diana.

That was his bottom line.

So he gave her a warning.

"Let's hope that ends it," he muttered. Even in school, he could no longer live like an ordinary student.

Then he remembered something, pulling out his phone as he ducked into the bathroom.

…

Meanwhile, Felicia sat stunned at her desk.

The recording she had just saved was gone.

The camera she had hacked—had been hacked in turn.

"Impossible… How did he…?"

Her silver hair bristled, her cat ears and tail nearly bursting out.

She'd been played.

…

After school.

Xi Nian noticed Gwen and Kara hadn't returned home with him.

He was about to search when a telepathic voice rang in his head.

"Xi Nian, we've got a situation!"

It was Jarro, speaking through the split symbiote on him.

"What is it?" Xi Nian asked seriously.

Jarro's tone was urgent. "You asked me to investigate S.H.I.E.L.D., right? I had a clone slip into their HQ garage, attach to a special modified vehicle—it belongs to one of their top agents."

"And?"

"That car's just arrived in Washington," Jarro said. "And the driver has your photo and file. They're coming for you."

Xi Nian narrowed his eyes. Not surprised—almost resigned.

A few minutes later, a modified car stopped outside his school.

From it stepped a bald, one-eyed man in a black trench coat.

"Xi Nian Prince."

Nick Fury's single eye studied him. He tried to smile but gave up, his face as stern as ever.

"Let me introduce myself. I'm Nick Fury, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.—a special organization.

You're probably wondering why I'm here. If you want answers, get in the car."

He expected resistance. A need to prove himself trustworthy.

Instead, Xi Nian nodded and climbed in without hesitation.

Nick Fury blinked, momentarily at a loss.

Too easy. Almost suspiciously easy.
