Chapter 106 - Chapter 107: My Junior is Supergirl

Chapter 107: My Junior is Supergirl

(TL/N: Forgot to count Ch.106. Too late to change stockpile now :v)

February 1st, 2012, exactly ten o'clock in the morning.

It had been one month since Superman's death. Spring was about to arrive, and life was beginning to bloom again.

Outside the campus, trees and patches of grass had begun sprouting new green buds, like rebirth after shedding an old skin.

Inside the classroom, Xi Nian was in the middle of a lecture. Instructor Rott was going over last week's summary, while the assistant instructor, Felicia Hardy, had already blended into the class atmosphere, quietly taking notes at the back.

But then—

Xi Nian suddenly jolted, quickly sliding his left hand under the desk.

His eyes widened in shock as golden light faintly shone through the sleeve covering his wrist.

The silver bracelet, the divine guardian artifact, was sending out an emergency call!

That meant—

Aunt Diana was in danger!

Xi Nian's heart thumped violently, tension locking his body. Without thinking, he jumped up from his seat.

"Huh?!" "What's wrong?"

The whole class froze, staring at him in confusion.

"Student Xi Nian, is there a problem?" Instructor Rott asked from the podium.

At the back row, Felicia's beautiful eyes showed curiosity. She knew the black-haired boy was named Xi Nian.

She recalled Rott had given him high praise, but over the last couple weeks, she'd only seen him as a diligent, slightly introverted student without any obvious talents.

Xi Nian didn't answer. He took a few deep breaths, forcing himself to calm down.

"Xi Nian, are you okay?" Gwen, the class monitor, forgot all about rules and got up from her seat, walking toward him in concern.

"Come with me!"

Xi Nian didn't hesitate. He grabbed Gwen by the wrist and pulled her out of the classroom.

The two instructors and the rest of the students just stared dumbfounded as their silhouettes disappeared through the doorway.

At the stairwell where there were no cameras—

Xi Nian pressed one hand against the wall, facing Gwen, who looked bewildered. "Gwen, do you trust me?"

"Do you even have to ask?" Gwen's sapphire eyes were clear and unwavering, reflecting the face of the black-haired boy.

"Then lend me your power. Whatever compensation you want afterwards, I'll give it!" Xi Nian said quickly.

Before he could finish, Gwen threw her arms around him. Her lips pressed softly against his.

Xi Nian's instincts took over, deepening the contact. A tingling current rushed through his tongue, and his hyper-adaptive genes hungrily responded, craving evolution.

His shirt tightened against his sculpted abs, muscle lines sharp as though carved by hand. His senses extended outward, reaching five meters in every direction.

Spider Mode—secured!

Xi Nian released Gwen, whose face was crimson, steam practically rising from her head.

Compared to the last time under the lab table, kissing in broad daylight on the school stairwell was a whole new level of intensity!

Gwen parted her lips to speak, but Xi Nian cut her off: "Cover for me at school. Wait here until I return!"

She hesitated but saw his unshakable determination. Finally, she nodded.

Clenching her teeth, Gwen said, "You better come back safe. You owe me a mountain of compensation!"

"Of course." Xi Nian nodded, then vaulted over the railing, dropping straight down the ten-meter gap to the first floor.

He knew very well—anything that could threaten his Aunt Diana was beyond Gwen's ability to handle.

And though an extra ally would increase his odds in an unknown fight, his selfishness wouldn't allow Gwen to get involved.

In that moment, Xi Nian realized: if it were Diana in his place, she too would rather fight to the bitter end than risk pulling him in as her trump card.

Because in her eyes, he wasn't a weapon—he was family she had to protect.

…

Leaving the school, Xi Nian ducked into a deserted alley and wrapped a scarf around half his face.

He flicked his wrist, launching a strand of white web, and swung high into the city skyline.

But he didn't immediately rush toward where the artifact was pulling him.

He knew that Spider powers alone weren't enough.

He would at least need to combine with the Venom symbiote and Xiao Huang's abilities. So he was swinging full speed toward home.

Yet he also knew—

Merging with Venom and Xiao Huang already pushed him to the brink of losing control.

Now, with Spider powers added to the mix, if he fused into that extreme tri-form again… even if the abilities didn't tear him apart, his personality might completely collapse.

But Xi Nian had no choice.

Where could he possibly find another female extraordinary being stronger than Diana, and whose powers wouldn't warp his mind?

Polaris Lorna was one such possibility.

But he didn't have her contact info, and even if he did, it was too late for her to fly in from New York.

The wind howled past. Streets blurred beneath him as he thought anxiously.

As he swung past a skyscraper, his left wrist failed—no web shot out. His body plunged toward the ground!

"Not now, damn it," Xi Nian muttered. He closed his eyes briefly, then reopened them with renewed calm.

"Again."

He raised his arm to try again—

But before he could, a figure streaked down faster than a meteor, snatching him mid-fall!

Too fast—

His pupils shrank. His Spider-sense barely registered the presence before his body was swept away.

With a loud swoosh, the red-caped figure lifted him upward, then gently set him down on a nearby rooftop.

Xi Nian's gaze followed the fluttering red cape, instantly recognizing the person.

Which only made it harder to believe.

"Senior Xi Nian, are you alright?" Kara Danvers blinked, then smiled as she turned slightly. "I told you I'd show you my true self."

"This—this is the real form of my people!"
