Chapter 29 Terrifying Triple Fusion
Washington, D.C.
Late at night, the lights in the house were still on.
Diana, dressed in a beige home dress, sat gracefully on the sofa in the living room. Her long white legs were crossed together as she leaned under a lamp, reading books on archaeology and law. Her intellectual and noble aura seemed to radiate around her like a halo.
But even while reading with full focus, Diana still glanced at the doorway from time to time.
She knew full well that Xi Nian was staying in New York tonight and would not be coming back. Yet, out of habit, she found herself looking toward the door again and again, a behavior even she found inexplicable.
Was it because she had grown used to it?
Used to Xi Nian returning home every day, excitedly calling her "Auntie," circling around her, and sharing his joys and troubles.
Used to sixteen years of warmth and peace.
Used to having Xi Nian by her side.
"Am I… feeling lonely?" Diana murmured in surprise as she gazed at the quiet, empty living room.
Before meeting that child, she had lived alone in the human world for decades. She had endured solitude for such a long time, yet now, after just one day without him, the loneliness felt unbearable.
Yes, loneliness.
As a goddess carrying ancient Greek divine blood, she had rarely dwelled on such emotions. After all, those destined to live forever were bound to loneliness.
But even loneliness had its degrees.
Diana put her book back on the shelf and walked gracefully toward another room.
Xi Nian's room.
Without turning on the lights, Diana quietly sat down on the bed in the darkness and slowly lay down.
Her wavy hair spread like petals across the sheets. She hugged the quilt gently, pulling close the familiar scent of the boy.
Her ivory-like legs first tensed together beneath the dress, then slowly relaxed.
"What is that child doing now?" Diana's cheeks flushed slightly. She naturally closed her eyes and drifted into sleep, lying on Xi Nian's bed.
…
New York, Queens.
"Venom, I never said I wanted to kill her."
Xi Nian, in his terrifying triple-fusion form of Venom and Flerken, widened his beastly eyes as he hovered briefly in the air above a rooftop. Before him, the model girl he had just sliced in half with his tail-turned-sword lay in pieces.
This was different from before, when he had gained either Auntie Diana's or Xiao Huang the Flerken's abilities separately.
Now, under the special case of parasite merging parasite…
Xi Nian wielded both Venom's and Flerken's abilities. Inside, he controlled the symbiote Venom that had latched onto him, while outside he manipulated the Flerken host body. Managing this body's power was several times more difficult than before.
Fortunately, he wasn't fumbling blindly on his own this time.
Venom and the Flerken both acted like subsystems, reminding him of each species' strengths and suggesting optimal actions.
Yes—this was true triple fusion.
That was why Xi Nian had been able to react so quickly, transforming his tail into a blade and striking with deadly precision.
But—only the first strike was his own. The second had been guided by Venom.
"She won't die that easily," Venom's voice echoed in Xi Nian's mind.
As if on cue—
In Xi Nian's feline pupils, the bisected model girl's body, and even the severed hands, leaked no blood. Instead, thick brown fluid oozed from the cuts.
The liquid swirled together, dragging her limbs back in place. Within seconds, the model girl stood whole again, unharmed.
Venom rasped:
"This human woman is beyond saving. Her symbiote has completely taken over. Her brain and body are already ruined, leaving her like a plant kept barely alive. Without the symbiote, she'd die instantly."
"I see… then there's nothing to worry about."
Xi Nian suddenly grinned wide. His tiny cat mouth stretched into half his face, revealing jagged, interlocking fangs.
The cute little black kitten now resembled a demon cub from hell.
Venom's ruthless cruelty and the Flerken's savage wildness gnawed away at human reason. Even though Xi Nian remained dominant in the fusion, he began to show monstrous behavior.
The symbiote within the model knew there was no chance to flee. Spikes of brown armor rose across her body, but before she could even finish forming them—
The little black cat moved.
In a blink, the girl glanced down and saw a gaping hole in her chest, wide enough to see through her body.
"What… just happened?" the symbiote was stunned.
Its hardened armor, flesh, bones, and organs were all pierced instantly!
So fast.
Impossible to even see.
No—it wasn't just speed. That alone couldn't cause such devastation!
Clutching her chest, the symbiote rushed to repair her body.
"It's useless. You can't kill her that way. Symbiotes can repair almost infinitely!" Venom shouted.
But the little black cat ignored him. With another sonic boom-like leap, he tore open a second hole in her abdomen.
Slash after slash.
The cat streaked like lightning across the rooftop, gouging the walls and floor with deep claw marks.
The girl's body was shredded repeatedly, her repairs unable to keep up with the onslaught.
"Why? How?!" the symbiote screamed. "Damn you, Venom—what kind of monster did you bond with, that the gap in power is this massive?!"
Panicked, it tried to escape. Brown liquid burst from the girl's mouth, surging toward the crowded street below.
"Stop it! It's trying to find another host!" Venom warned.
"Not happening."
Xi Nian's cat form raised a claw. A massive weaponized appendage shot forward, snatching the liquid mid-air.
"You can't kill me!" the symbiote thrashed violently.
"Oh?"
Xi Nian's grin widened. He dragged the symbiote back, then tossed it straight into his gaping maw.
Without even swallowing, the creature vanished.
Not eaten.
Banished—to the Flerken's pocket dimension.
There, without a host, even a symbiote would soon wither and die.
"Quickly now. In this state, let's wipe out the rest."
Xi Nian's raspy voice grew darker as he looked down coldly over New York at night. The longer the three powers remained fused, the more his behavior tilted toward Venom and the Flerken.
Human reason eroded.
But the true strength of the triple fusion was finally beginning to surface!
