Cindy had my head spinning. Would Luca really be so cruel as to kill my unborn children? I had to find him. I wanted to get into his mind and find the answers for myself. He fled… so did that make him guilty?
"I am going after him. He will not get away with it," Cindy threatened.
"I will deal with him. If he is guilty, I will end him myself," I said, stopping her from chasing after Luca.
I got up from the sofa, ready to track Luca down, the anger and confusion still boiling beneath my skin, when he walked back into the living area, his steps surprisingly calm, accompanied by a woman I had never seen before. She looked wildly out of place inside the fortress, her pale scrubs wrinkled, hair hastily collected into a messy bun, eyes darting anxiously around the room as though she had been plucked straight out of a hospital corridor and thrown into a nightmare she didn't understand.
