It was just a usual night for me. I was laying in bed waiting to be tired enough to go to sleep. All of a sudden I got a text on Instagram. It was a person I had never talked to before and all the message read was : "Hey, you're cute." It was the first time something like this had happened to me. I was a little panicked honestly, not knowing what to write back.
I went to her profile and found I was already following her. I didn't remember ever seeing her before in my life and I went through her posts. I did find her attractive so I decided to text back "Thanks, you're cute too."
I really didn't know what to think at this moment. I was more or less thinking of wow, what an interesting thing to happen to me. Soon she texted back asking "Angelina said you're a nice guy." Angelina was dating a friend of mine and her and I had talked before sometimes, not often but I did at least consider her a friend too.
We began texting each other about just stuff in our life ranging from movies, musicals, our jobs and just getting to know each other. It was fun. We just texted for a good hour until I began getting tired and she said she had to start making her way home.
With that we stopped texting and I laid my head down wondering if I'd be hearing from her tomorrow. It was definitely sudden and the timing was just perfect for me as just the week prior I had gotten back from college after dropping out from them easing my bill to a point I couldn't afford.
It definitely took me a while to fall asleep because all I could think about what this meant for the future. Mostly my own feelings on this. I was definitely more confused then anything. It felt nice though. It was the first time someone said I was cute and it just kept making me wonder.
I finally drifted off into sleep and with that the next day had come. I had work so I couldn't text for long but we began making plans.
"Hey, so there's this thing going on soon called Reaper's Revenge and I was wondering if you wanted to go with me and some of my friends?"
"That could be fun. What is that exactly?"
"It's like a haunted house. Usually only here for a couple weeks until Halloween."
"Okay cool, I'd be down to go then. When we getting together?"
From there we made plans to go to Reaper's Revenge and her and I kept chatting each night just getting to know each other better. It felt natural, like I didn't have to force out words. It was just clicking really well.
A couple more weeks went by and the time for us to get together was coming up but I had one big problem which was my car. It was falling apart to the point it wasn't even legal to drive and I couldn't go with her that day. She sent me updates and told me she was sad I wasn't able to go out for this but that we should plan something again soon.
It definitely hurt. I was sad. But at the same time I think I was just scared of seeing her in person. I didn't really try to think of any ways to get around my car problems and just flat out said I couldn't go.
A couple weeks more and we finally had set plans to finally see each other in person. It had been about a month and a half by this point since we first started talking. The plans were set and I was going. It was going to be our first date and I felt scared but ready.
