Elias hesitated for another second, then climbed into the passenger seat. The door shut with a soft and expensive click. The car smelled like new leather and Nathan's clean cologne, which felt a little too strong. Nathan didn't wait for directions. He just pulled away from the curb and joined the flow of traffic.
Elias stared straight ahead and saw that Nathan was driving towards his apartment. He didn't need to tell Nathan the address. The route was already familiar. Left on Maple, right at the old gas station, past the market, straight to the narrow street where the apartment building stood. Nathan knew exactly where he lived.
'How on earth does everyone know where I live?'
The silence stretched and it wasn't comfortable. He didn't want to be with Nathan and he doesn't know why. He wasn't angry; he was just uncomfortable.
Elias watched the familiar shops pass by. A minute from home, the car slowed and rolled to a complete stop on the side of the road.
