Viktor did not finish. A distant sound cut into the moment. Both men turned their heads immediately.
A car eased into the path. Lights spilt across the forest. The driver's door opened.
"Boss? Boss?" Someone called for Viktor from a distance. Viktor straightened, pulling his tie from Elias's hand. He touched his reddened wrist and kissed it. Elias flinched.
'Why would he...?'
It was as if a spell that was cast on him broke.
"I'll see you Monday," Viktor said. He turned and walked away toward the car. The driver finally saw him and was worried.
"I told you I'd walked my way to the house," Viktor said with a bit of annoyance in his voice.
"Forgive me, boss. When you didn't return after ten minutes, I was worried something had happened to you,"
