Chapter 46 - Sage body to take over the land of fire!

Taking out the coffins of Kushina and Mito Uzumaki, Haruma thought to himself.

Resisting the urge to devour them immediately, Haruma carefully extracted a portion of their tissues, sealed them away inside a storage scroll, and only then began devouring their bodies.

Back when Haruma devoured Shisui as a child, he had been so nervous and excited, afraid of being discovered by the Root or caught by Itachi himself that he forgot to preserve any part of Shisui's tissue. After perfecting his "Leaping Over the Dragon Gate" plan, Haruma regretted that thoughtlessness plenty of times.

He had failed to realise that through Edo Tensei, he might have exploited the loopholes of his devouring ability to consume Shisui's soul and ocular prowess, potentially granting him Shisui's mangekyo sharingan.

Now, Haruma would never repeat such a mistake.

From this point on, whenever he devoured a corpse, he would first preserve part of it's tissues, then use Edo Tensei to summon its soul, and finally consume it in full. In this way, whether the target was living or dead, the benefits of devouring would be maximised.

As his hands exuded a thick mist, a terrifying suction twisted the corpses of Kushina and Mito and dragged them into the devouring hand's space. Moments later, it had already finished the process of breaking down their bodies and storing their memories into film.

But this time, Haruma realised he had been wrong, terribly wrong.

Ordinary corpses held little energy. But Sage Bodies did not follow this rule.

Of all the shinobi Haruma had hunted in Konoha, the target with the highest energy tenzo, who carried Hashirama's cells. Even now, raw power and chakra that he possessed still pulsed within him, releasing a warm current that had yet to fade.

Yet after devouring Kushina and Mito, Haruma felt the warm current in his body instantly double in intensity.

Most of this power came from Kushina, despite her having been dead for twelve years. The smaller portion came from Mito, whose body had rested for decades and had already withered into that of an even older woman.

Under the influence of this surge, Haruma suddenly felt two new powers awaken within him.

Both were unique to the Uzumaki bloodline.

From Kushina's corpse came the legendary Adamantine Sealing Chains.

From Mito's corpse came something different, her Kagura's Mind Eye, but warped after decades of influence by the Nine-Tails.

Its name was Kagura's Mind Eye: Malicious Variant.

This ability retained all the functions of Kagura's Mind Eye, perception across a wide radius spanning tens of kilometers, but had mutated to include Kurama's trait.

The perception of malice.

In other words, Haruma could now not only sense disturbances across great distances, but also distinguish between good and evil intent.

Combined with his byakugan, capable of piercing through terrain and stretching several kilometers in range, Haruma had become an even more formidable sensory shinobi with practically no one apart from the Tenseigan on the moon standing above him.

"It seems that the corpses of the Uzumaki clan are the greatest rewards of this grave robbery," Haruma muttered to himself.

He then produced the coffins of the Senju clan, preserved portions of their tissues as before, and devoured their remains.

As expected, when these corpses were devoured, the combined energy far surpassed anything he had previously consumed, dozens of times stronger than the insipid Hyuga elder.

Even though the Senju clan had been extinct for so long, their bodies still radiated immense vitality, proof they were the descendants of Ashura.

"Huh? What's happening!?"

As the warm current of energy flooded into him, Haruma's expression changed. His crimson eyes widened in shock.

If one could peer into Haruma's body, into the very structure of his cells, they would witness mutations unfolding in real time.

Cell vitality, if it could be measured numerically, was now doubling every few seconds.

With it, Haruma's physical constitution was transforming rapidly.

The corpses of Gekko, the Hyuga and even the Yamanaka and Nara clansmen could barely be counted. The true catalysts of this transformation were Kushina and Mito.

Individually, each offered him only modest improvement. But together, fused as one, their powers triggered an astonishing mutation within him.

The energy refined from Hashirama cells, combined with the Uzumaki, merged inside Haruma. And from this union was born a new Sage Body.

A Sage Body superior to both Uzumaki and Senju.

A Sage Body second only to Ashura, Hashirama, and Naruto.

The power shocked Haruma, who had believed the Malicious Variant of Kagura's Mind Eye would be his greatest gain tonight.

"This is insane… I've hit the jackpot!" he gasped, punching the air in sheer excitement.

In that moment, Haruma wished he could return to his past self, the self who had just perfected the Leaping Over the Dragon Gate plan, embrace him tightly and call him a genius.

Not only had he gained access to a body second only to Ashura, but once Plan B succeeded and his sharingan evolved into mangekyo sharingan, he would possess both the Body of Ashura and the Eyes of Indra.

Alone, each of these powers was formidable. But together, their synergy was beyond imagination, a chain reaction where one plus one was greater than two.

Had Obito, strengthened by Hashirama cells, wielded his mangekyo as though it were Eternal?

Then Haruma, who now possessed a Sage Body nearly equal to Ashura's, would surely awaken a mangekyo sharingan at the eternal level.

And once he held the true Immortal Body, even his Wood Release would no longer be the pale.

No, its potential might one day rival that of the Sage of Six Paths himself.

At that thought, a line from his past life flashed in his memory,

"The Great Buddha of Susanoo, destroying the Four Kingdoms with one person!"

And Haruma could not help but laugh and ask aloud, "How is this anything but invincible!?"

Its was truly incredible what he had achieved in such little time, a genin with the power to rival elite jonin and S-rank shinobi.

It was nothing shy of greatness.
