I was an orphan. I started by struggling my way to adulthood and getting an average job and buy a normal apartment in the suburbs. Currently I am working as a normal salaryman, cycling my life around waking up, prepare to go to work, doing some overwork, returning home, prepare dinner, take my time reading novel and then going to sleep. I am carrying my life alone without any partner and family.
Recently I have been ready a average reincarnation novel about a son of a poor baron struggling finally getting betrayed and killed. Then getting reincarnation to his childhood and restructuring his life as the hero of the world. While the struggle of the hero might catch attention and praise from others and doing some underhanded work in process. I do not mean to judge as life is not a fairytale and some underhanded work are to be done. But in my point of view, some were unnecessary or could be done in alternative ways. Not that I am complaining, I think that part of the novel makes it different than other novel where MCs are all good and it portraits the human nature to some extent.
Well enough of the frictional novel world, my life isn't all great either it just like living the same repeated day. And in one hellish day of overtime, I felt quite dizzy and fell asleep. After I opened my eyes, what I saw was not what I expected. It was neither my lonely apartment or hospital, it was like a very luxurious medieval themed hotel room. I wasn't sure if I was still dreaming or something but it felt too real to be a dream. While I was still thinking of this dream, a young women with maid's outfit entered the room and started tidying up my room. Then she suddenly turned my way slightly lowering her eyes and addressing me as Your Highness respectfully reminded me to my todays schedule with my family. I realize it was too real to be a dream. As, she went to another room attached to the room I was in. Although I was in a state of confusion, I managed to maintain a poker face.
I started to look around for any clue about my current situation. While I was looking around, I was shunned as I looked in the mirror and saw I complete look different than what I looked before. I was looking at a boy aged 13 or 14 pale skin, bright blue eyes and short white hair. In one glace, he is very handsome. While thinking about the facial features of the boy in the mirror, suddenly I felt an immense headache and memories started to flood in my mine from childhood till now.
Then a voice shook me out of my dazed state.
"Your Highness, the bath is ready"
I immediately recovered my posture.
"Yes, please wait outside."
"I will wait outside the door. Please call me when you need me"
She went outside and closed the door.
After she went outside, I started to reorganize my thoughts as I went for the bath. This boy is Arne Conrad Von Vortigern, part of Vortigern Family. I was reincarnated in a novel world I was reading and in the body of a minor villain character who worked under one of the major villains of the novel Prince Daegal Piers Von Eldridge far later in the storyline. Although he was minor villain, he was very talented and more skilled than the MC but was crushed by MC's moral coercion and partly because he was guilty of his actions. Vortigern is a very prestigious military family and is a part of Royal Family. So, although Vortingern family title is Grand Duchy, they have Royal privileges. It controls the northern territories of the Kingdom containing the northern mountainous border and the few fertile lowlands. The Grand Duchy is famous for it's mineral mines and due to having the best smithy in the kingdom. And the person leading the family is his father Grand Duke Braham Buchard Von Vortigern. He was youngest of prince of Kingdom of Eldridge. After his father [King of Eldridge] suddenly died, a rebellion was staged by the some ambitious nobles. His father supported his elder brother in the struggle of throne. After the rebels were taken care of his father stepped down as a candidate for the throne even though he has immense presence and influence in the royal court. He was raised by his father-in-law and he took his title after he died because his mother didn't had any sibling and became part of the Loyalist faction of the King. It would be wrong to refer as this boy because after I regained memories of his past, I feel like I merged together with him. It like, I am Arne Conrad Von Vortigern myself.
While reminding myself of my past, I finished my bath and signaled the maid. Then she prepared my outfit for the day and helped me with my appearance.
"Everything is ready, Your Highness. Please follow me"
She is my personal maid. She attends to me and manages my schedules for me. Her age is unknown but looking at her, she may be 17 or 18. Her name is Sylvia. His late mother brought her while visiting a city. She is an orphan raised in slums until my mother took her in.
His mother died in an accident when she was coming from her event in the capital. I was with her but only I survived from that accident. That had an immense effect on him, as she was the only source of comfort in this very strict family. He gets irritated very often and always had dark aura around him. As time went on he eventually overcome it but the rumors stayed. And during that time Sylvia volunteered to be his personal maid, maybe because of his mother but she remained loyal to the end.
While I was thinking about it, I reach the family dinning place.
After entering the room, two persons were already sitting at the dinning table. One on the end of the table was my father and other was my elder brother Elric Lothar Von Vortigern.
Elric was very supportive brother even though he looks cold and distant but he supported his brother time to time throughout novel even though he was not mentioned in the novel much.
After I sat the chair the servants started to serve the food.
While eating, my father started speaking with a cold and serious tone.
"You will be 15 soon and we are at the end of the year. You will be going to the capital for Royal Vinswin Academy soon. How are you preparing for it?"
"I am prepared. I can start the Journey in 20 days"
"I see. How is your studies going on for the family exam?"
"It's going well. I will be able take it in a few days."
"Ok"
Then father started to discuss some domain matters with big brother.
Vortigern is a very strict military family. The direct descendent of the Vortigern must start their martial training and studies from the age of 4. And must pass the family test every year until 15 yeas old when they go to the Royal Academy. This was my last year of me taking the family test. If I fail the test then I will not be allowed to attend the academy.
The family test consists of 3 sectors: general studies, martial prowess and magic affinity.
After finishing the breakfast, Sylvia repeated all my activities and schedules for the day.
After my activities in library and my daily schedule, I went to the training area to figure out the limit of my skills. While training, I noticed my skills and learning abilities and the experience were already integrated with the character. So, I don't think it will be too difficult to pass the test.
