Chapter 87 - Chapter 83: The Fall of Caesar

"Rumor's Mapo, Lucifer-flavored Satan style…? Intriguing. No retreat for sincerity—I'll eat it!"

"Stop, Hijikata-san!! Don't waste your life!!"

"Outta my way, Okita!! No escape for the Shinsengumi!!"

Fierce battle!

"Tedious," Caesar muttered.

He swung his sword.

"Guah!!" Nero was blown back.

"Tedious."

Another swing.

"Kuaah!!" Mash's stance crumbled.

"Truly, truly—"

"Ooooh!!" Nero charged with vigor, only to be effortlessly parried.

"Ngh—!"

"Tedious—!"

Mash blocked, but both she and Nero were hurled back!

"Kuaah!!"

"Nuu—!!"

One strike met ten, thrusts dodged, sometimes elegantly, swiftly, deceptively, or bluntly—Caesar's sword, wielded with masterful tactics, battered them relentlessly!

"You okay, Mash?!" Ritsuka called.

"Yes, no direct hits, but…" Mash replied.

"Hm. Saber doesn't suit me," Caesar said, cracking his shoulders.

"Wielding such a powerful sword and saying that…?" Nero gasped.

"Fact. Caesar's true calling is command and oration," Gilgamesh noted.

"Indeed. My weapons are gestures and eloquence—parrying with motion, luring with flourish, finishing with words. Melee is for armored grunts," Caesar said.

"Petty tactics aside, I agree melee's for soldiers. A king fights only at feasts or when foes reach the throne—madness or desperation," Gilgamesh added.

Caesar's strong.

He effortlessly countered Mash and Nero, his heavy, versatile strikes leaving no openings. His speed and finesse belied his appearance—underestimate him, and we're done!

"Change! 'Full Heal'!" Ritsuka swapped equipment, healing Mash and Nero.

"You okay?!"

"Sorry! Not done yet, Caesar!" Nero shouted.

"Thanks, Senpai!" Mash said.

"Nero, lead the attack! Mash, guard her! He's strong, but not Hercules-level!" Ritsuka directed.

"You have Greece's hero too? Not just blindly saving the world, then," Caesar remarked.

"Of course! Let's go, Nero! Show him the rose emperor's power!" Ritsuka urged.

"Umu! Mash, guard me!"

"Yes!"

"Radiant unity. A shine we lack—beautiful, like her glow," Caesar mused.

"Taaaah!!" Nero charged.

"Let's go!!" Mash followed.

"Rise, glare, shout! I stand in your way!" Caesar declared.

Olga Marie said Sabers have magic resistance. Gandr's a gamble—must catch him off-guard!

Primordial fire, yellow death, and snowflake shields clashed, sparking brilliantly!

"This'll hone you well. Can't handle one emperor, humanity's a pipe dream," Gilgamesh said, glancing at Heroine X. "What're you doing, fake Saber?"

Fiddling with a console, practicing swings, Heroine X replied, "Tactics and setup."

"Looks like swinging to me."

"With two Sabers, why not let them exhaust each other? Saves me effort. Fairly aiming for the fisherman's profit, minimizing effort as a knight's pride. Standard Saber mindset."

She casually shattered fairness.

"So… When will I meet the Saber?" Gilgamesh sighed.

"Here's one already," Heroine X retorted.

"Master's up to something fun," Nero noted.

"Ignored, Gilgamesh?!" Heroine X huffed.

More lookalikes out there?

"Come, Jeanne Alter!" Ritsuka raised her hand, summoning a dark witch.

"Again, me?! What're you thinking? I'm weaker than Mash!" Jeanne Alter protested.

"You won't get stronger without fighting!"

"True, but—"

"I'm half-baked, you're half-baked! Together, we're whole! Let's do this!"

"Hmph! Fine, foolish Master. Follow me!"

"Yeah!"

"Ooooh!!" Nero's fire pursued Caesar.

"You're getting the hang of it. Good—keeps it fun," Caesar said.

"Taaaah!!" Mash's shield blocked Caesar's sword.

"Excellent. Sturdy, unlike your soft frame. Beautiful—you all are!" Caesar praised.

As blades clashed and spirits soared—

"Outta my way, shorty! Marshmallow!!" Jeanne Alter's vengeful flames scorched the battlefield.

"Ngh—?!" Nero dodged.

"Jeanne Alter-san?!" Mash gasped.

The blaze roared, engulfing Caesar.

"What—hot enough to burn my fat!" Caesar laughed.

"Daaaah!!" Jeanne Alter slammed her flag.

"Whoops." Caesar's golden sword nullified the ambush.

"Tch!"

"Fooling this Caesar? I've had my fill of that in life," he said.

"K—kuku, hahahaha!" Jeanne Alter laughed.

"…?"

"'Master'!!"

She flung her fur cloak, revealing—

"This close, magic resistance won't help!" Ritsuka, clinging to Jeanne Alter, declared.

"'Gandr'!!"

A curse shot from her fingertip!

"What—?!" Caesar froze, struck.

"Now, Nero!!"

"Umu!!"

Nero dashed, swinging her blade overhead—

"Here's the rose's strike!!"

A full-force blow struck Caesar!

"Gnuuuh!!"

"—Shallow!" Nero gritted her teeth as Caesar leapt back.

Gandr hit, but magic resistance weakened it. He moved too soon…

"Ha, hahaha! Great, fun fight! Worthy of my chronicles!" Caesar laughed.

"Wielding a sword's not bad. The battlefield soothes me. Fine ambush, spirited!"

"Shut up, fatso," Jeanne Alter snapped.

"Not fat—abundant! Abundance is power!"

"Whatever. Sorry, Master. Messed up," Jeanne Alter said.

"No, thanks for charging with me! Rest up!" Ritsuka replied.

"Be careful," Jeanne Alter returned to Chaldea.

"Umu, good. I'm getting fired up. Time to get serious," Caesar said.

"W-What?! You weren't serious?!" Mash stammered.

"Naturally. Full effort from the start's no fun. I hold cards to warm the crowd—now," Caesar's mana surged.

"Here it comes," Gilgamesh braced.

"I came, I saw. Now—"

His true power—interrupted.

"Now, I cut you down! Support barrage! Impact!!"

A blue cannon blast from the sky struck Caesar!

"What—?!"

"Careless. Hoarding your strength? A true Saber like me locks you down. Arrogance and negligence—I'm sick of them," Heroine X declared.

"Payback?" Caesar asked.

"Fact. Sorry for the wait, non-Saber me… Time to punish the rabble!"

Summoning white and black holy swords, she unleashed mana, rocketing toward Caesar!

"Galaha—Mash, guard Red Saber! Don't let her get slashed, or we're done!"

"Y-Yes!!"

Two holy swords?! Seriously?!

"Utter madness… Gag space is cheating…" Gilgamesh groaned.

"To battle!! Starlight sword! Erase red, white, black!!"

Wielding opposing swords freely, Heroine X sliced Caesar mercilessly!

"Gah—!!"

"Secret, everyone! X—!!"

She slashed an X-shape!

"Calibur—!!!!"

A torrent of mana blasted the field!

"Kuuuh!!"

"What a chaotic general!" Caesar gasped.

"Nothing to say…" Gilgamesh muttered.

"To fall to beauties… A fine end," Caesar said, fading.

"Saber processed. The world nears its true form," Heroine X stated.

"I'm no Saber. Finally free of unfit work," Caesar sighed.

"Leave a parting gift, loser. Where's your Grail?" Gilgamesh demanded.

Their efforts deserve intel. It'll guide us.

"Winners need rewards. The Grail's with our court mage in United Rome's capital," Caesar revealed.

"Court mage… Then it's—" Romani began.

"Lev Lainur!" Ritsuka finished.

"Nero, beautiful emperor. A shock awaits you there. Your face when you meet him—it'll be a sight," Caesar laughed, vanishing.

"Farewell, great lord Caesar… I step over your corpse to advance," Nero vowed.

Thus, Caesar fell, and legitimate Rome reclaimed Gaul.

"Done! Dig in!"

"Nice look… Wish I could feed it to those spineless retainers," Hijikata said.

"No! Impossible, Okita-san! I just remembered urgent business—"

"I'll eat," Hijikata declared.

"Hijikata-san—!!"

"—Uuuuuuooooooaaaaaah!!!!"

"Hijikata-saaaan!!!"
