Chapter 118 - How? How could this mortal wield the Devourer’s power?

It was as if the gaping mouth of a gigantic mosquito had descended, sucking the life out of everything around it.

Thin black lines rippled outward from the russet light, winding and curling, ready to devour the surrounding divine power of the stars.

Xu Fu felt it—the power of ten thousand pure beings being drained outward.

For a moment, it seemed as if his entire body would burst, as though he were about to ascend into the void. The overwhelming sensation of power surged through him, exhilarating and intoxicating. Xu Fu's mind raced with delight. This was… incredible.

On the ground, the Ancient One stared blankly, completely unable to comprehend the scene unfolding before her.

Meanwhile, far above in Asgard, in the hallowed halls of the Gods' Domain, a white-bearded figure's eyes widened in astonishment. It was Odin, the All-Father.

Long ago, he had heard whispers through the ether about a freakish being on Midgard—the Blue Star—whose strength surpassed mortal limits. He had watched with cautious curiosity ever since.

And now… Xu Fu was battling a Planetary Devourer, one of the universe's creator gods. The fallout from this battle was already rippling across the Nine Realms.

Odin's eyes glowed as he zoomed in on the scene. Russet light rippled outward, covered in countless inscriptions, sparkling endlessly. His breathing quickened.

No… this can't be…

This was cosmic power—the purest, most complete energy from the Planetary Devourer itself. Power that had shattered the primary universe, that had transcended metaversal energy… and now, somehow, it was in Xu Fu's hands.

How? How could this mortal wield the Devourer's power?

Odin's mind spun. Could Xu Fu possibly be the reincarnation of that legendary existence? No… it made no sense. The boy had never left Blue Star; he was not supposed to possess this level of power.

And yet, here he was, siphoning energy that should have been beyond any mortal's grasp. Everything Odin thought he knew was suddenly wrong.

On Chai Suxing's battlefield, the Devourer of Planets continued to shrink—not by choice, but by the overwhelming draw of Xu Fu's light.

The russet ripples had turned black, drawing the Devourer's cosmic power outward. The Devourer, normally omnipotent, now felt blinded, as though his body had been hollowed out. A dizzying, staggering sensation filled his mind.

Energy that had once been under his absolute control now surged chaotically, like a dam releasing an unstoppable torrent. Primordial forces from the depths of his body roared in revolt.

For the first time in eons, the Devourer of Planets felt a flicker of fear.

"This power… I created this weapon in another parallel universe… but this kid… he's not even skilled, yet he wields it?" he muttered, bewildered.

Xu Fu's ten powerful light ripples had shattered against him, yet the Planetary Devourer found them useless. He was furious.

Kill this child… destroy this planet… it doesn't matter what connections he has. Nothing matters. I will obliterate him.

The Devourer's body contracted, black energy coiling like a living shadow. In moments, a colossal eight-foot-tall form stood in the middle of the universe. To ordinary eyes, it was immense. Compared to its full power, it was like an ant.

Xu Fu's face was calm, solemn. He had learned long ago: strength alone could not guarantee victory.

Suddenly, verdant light spiraled around him, forming a protective wall that closed him into a tight cocoon.

The Devourer of Planets, for the first time in this battle, spoke quietly, deliberately, with deadly solemnity.

"Engulf!"

A black light, pulsing with lethal energy, shot toward Xu Fu.

Xu Fu's expression darkened. The green light before him swelled, taking the shape of a massive bell. The black orb of energy approached, slow yet unstoppable…

And then Xu Fu burst forth, unleashing a magnificent green phoenix into space.

The phoenix expanded rapidly, engulfing half the universe. Its beauty was terrifying.

Even the artificial black hole generated by the Planetary Devourer could not consume it—it was as if this phoenix existed outside the very rules of the universe.

For a moment, the Devourer of Planets faltered. He stared in disbelief.

No… this is impossible… how can it not be affected?

He struck with his palm, attempting to grasp the phoenix, but the attack… had no effect.

The green phoenix floated, serene and unyielding, defying the Devourer's wrath.

Xu Fu's eyes narrowed. The true battle was only just beginning.
