Chapter 39 - SSG [39]

After finishing with the High-Level Reincarnator Qualification, next came the two Special Item Draws.

Zeroy had long been waiting for these so-called special items.

She was eager to see what she could pull.

The draws could be used directly in the Inventory. Upon use, a sphere of light appeared before her.

When she saw it, unfamiliar information flowed into her mind, telling her how to use it.

She reached her hand inside, and the white orb turned multicolored.

White, blue, purple, gold, and red blended together in constant flux.

The moment Zeroy grasped it, the orb turned blue.

[Acquired Special Equipment: Sky Striker Mecha - Hercules Base]

Zeroy thought blue would only give trash.

But—it turned out to be this...

Hercules Base, part of the same world as Sky Strikers, as shown by the [Sky Striker] prefix in its name.

In fact, it was one of the Sky Striker Mechas.

Despite being called Hercules Base, it was actually a fighter jet.

Useful? Not really. In the manga, it hardly appeared, with no real importance. In the game, it was bottom-tier.

Though the Sky Striker Deck as a whole... well, it's a waifu deck! With waifu power, anything goes!

Still, this piece of equipment was useful to Zeroy now. After all, she was in a blank-slate state.

Hercules Base could make up for her lack of mobility.

She could cross all of Tokonosu City in minutes, but without flight, she was stuck on the ground, unable to move long distances.

That was why she hadn't been able to wipe out all the corporate forces across the globe.

Now, she could.

So even if it was only blue quality, she felt this first draw was quite valuable.

Zeroy reached into the orb again.

Hercules Base was nice, but she hoped the next one would be better, more satisfying.

This time, the instant she grasped it, the orb turned gold!

[Acquired Special Equipment: Sky Striker Ace - Kagari]

'Hit the jackpot!'

With the system notification, a dazzling red glow lit up in Zeroy's equipment slot.

When the projection of a crimson armor suit appeared before her, her eyes shone.

Kagari—this was the armor's name. Not only was it exclusive Sky Striker equipment, it was also one of their advanced forms, nicknamed the Flame Blade.

Alongside it were the Earth Blade, Wind Blade, and Water Blade—four armors in total.

Even in her blank-slate state, Sky Striker Ace was already powerful.

But when enemies grew strong enough to threaten her, these armors were her trump cards—or rather, only when equipped with them did she truly enter battle form.

They granted Zeroy performance and power far beyond her base state, each armor specializing in a different field with unique gear and abilities.

And Kagari, the fiery crimson armor, was the embodiment of offense, boasting the most ferocious power of the four.

Simply put, Zeroy could now [henshin!].

Of all four armors, Kagari was the one she wanted most.

Even though back in the Highschool of the Dead world, she had been unstoppable, slaughtering everywhere...

That was only zombies, after all. Everyone knew HotD was the newbie village starting point.

Slaughtering there didn't make her proud, nor did she think her power was enough.

She still lacked offense. She wanted greater strength.

Her blade still wasn't fast enough!

So, the attack-focused Kagari was the one she desired most.

And Zeroy felt it suited her perfectly.

During her two weeks in HotD, she had learned a truth—the more you kill, the more trouble you face disposing of corpses.

Killing was easy. Just take their heads.

That said, too many corpses piled up, and disposal became a huge problem—so much so that even Zeroy felt helpless.

In another world, not an apocalyptic one, she might even have to restrain herself from decapitation for fear of plague and environmental destruction.

However, with Kagari, with fire at its core, she could incinerate her enemies to ash.

Drawing the Flame Blade was a complete stroke of luck.

She immediately transformed, asking the Main God for a full-length mirror.

Then, like trying on new clothes, she admired the armor carefully.

"Shame there's no training ground. Otherwise, I'd be testing this blade right now."

Zeroy sighed, dispelling the armor.

"Come to think of it, both draws were from Yu-Gi-Oh!, and both from the Sky Striker series..."

She rubbed her chin, murmuring.

"So, does 'special' just mean a limited pool?"

Thinking further was useless. She had no more draws.

Nor had she found any way to get more.

The shop didn't sell them, and the Main God refused to speak, so there was no answer there.

Next came the Points—

Judging by shop prices and mission rewards, the roughly 30,000 Points she now had seemed like a fortune—or at least, it should be for a newcomer.

Strengthening physical stats through the Main God cost 1000 Points each time. Zeroy tried it once.

She felt her abilities rise by about 20%.

That was a huge boost, and only for 1000 Points.

Despite that, Zeroy wasn't sure.

This shattered Main God never played by the rules.

Even the newbie world only had her as the sole Reincarnator—that was weird enough.

Up to the very end, she hadn't seen another Reincarnator, ally or foe.

And was the newbie world hard? For normal people, yes. For her, not at all.

And that was only because the Main God had given her enhancements at the start—turning her into an Artificial Human.

Were all Reincarnators like this? Or was she special?

If not, then her start was just average, and her 30,000 Points weren't that rich at all.

After all, compared to those with large-scale destructive power, her head-chopping speed was still too slow.

That made Zeroy feel ashamed.

'…I tried so hard chopping heads, and yet they just wouldn't end.'
