Chapter 41 - SSG [41]

After upgrading her skills, Zeroy carefully examined and summarized her own situation.

Apart from her fast blade, nearly everything else was a weakness.

She had too few methods—just like how she now relied on Hercules Base as mere transportation for movement.

What kind of super soldier was she supposed to be? With no real skills or systems, all she could do was charge in and start swinging.

If she ran into a soul-form enemy, she'd probably be helpless.

She needed more tools—against souls, against the mind, and things like teleportation, transportation, healing, and defense.

Especially detection abilities, both for locating targets and sensing guilt, so she wouldn't be unsure of who to cut down.

Zeroy thought it best if she could find a complete magic compendium—that would cover all her shortcomings.

Of course, she would also need to raise her Mana attribute; skills without Mana were useless.

That said, the Main God's shop didn't sell magic books at all.

To learn magic, she would need to find her own way.

For example—the trade plaza.

Zeroy began staking it out, and on the third day, she finally found something worthwhile.

[Basic Magic Introduction (Blue)]

┗ Price: 500

Alongside it were [Basic Swordsmanship Introduction (Blue)], [Basic Martial Arts Introduction (Blue)], [Basic Gunfight Introduction (Blue)], and other fundamental skill books.

It was obvious these had been compiled by other Reincarnators based on their abilities.

Zeroy didn't buy the rest—she didn't need them.

She only bought Basic Magic. Even if it was just blue quality, it was better than nothing.

After skimming through and confirming it worked, Zeroy stored it in her Inventory.

She didn't have time to study it yet, because she was about to proactively sign up for a mission.

The cooldown for High-Level Reincarnators to join voluntarily was three days. Today marked the third.

Once today ended, tomorrow she would begin a new mission.

But because she'd been watching the trade plaza, she had left her Points untouched until now.

Now she had to spend them quickly.

Leaving 5000 for emergencies, she invested the rest into strengthening her body. As her Points poured out, radiant glows of enhancement flashed across her body.

On the ninth flash, the strengthening ceased.

Counting the earlier trial, she had enhanced her body ten times. Beyond that, each upgrade would cost 2000 Points instead of 1000.

She only raised an eyebrow—not surprised.

She had felt it while enhancing: each time, the gains lessened.

By the tenth, the boost was minimal.

After all, at only 1000 Points per upgrade, infinite growth at constant strength would be absurd.

Zeroy didn't continue enhancing immediately. Instead, she searched the shop for consumables that boosted Mana.

[Blue Mana Shard: Slightly and permanently increases Mana capacity and quality (Uses: 0/10)]

┗ Price: 500

She bought one, crushed it, and felt her Mana nearly double.

That was only because her base Mana was so low.

She could wield Sky Striker weapons smoothly only because their Mana drain was almost negligible.

After all, she herself was the Sky Striker.

Feeling the difference, Zeroy bought nine more and maxed out the item's limit.

Skill upgrades: 6000 + Body enhancement: 10,000 + Emergency fund: 5000 + 5000 on Mana Shards + 500 on Evil Flower + 500 on Magic Book + 500 on intel = 27,500 spent.

She had 2500 left. But she also sold a [High-Efficiency Combat Experience (Blue), 500], bringing her back up to 3000.

She spent it on one more body enhancement.

Aside from her reserved 5000, she used 1000 Points to set a beacon for Highschool of the Dead.

But although she set it, she didn't return.

Travel between worlds had a one-day cooldown, and tomorrow she would already be on her new mission. There wasn't time.

So until then, her top priority was adapting to her changes.

She had eleven body enhancements now, and her new Ryouri armor hadn't been tested properly.

Until the mission, Zeroy buried herself in training.

'Black Bullet!'

Zeroy's brows furrowed at once.

She'd seen this anime. Unless things went very differently, this mission wouldn't be hard for her.

She should have felt glad.

However, remembering the things she'd seen in the show...

Her hands twitched for a blade.

This world: humanity had created a virus that turned any lifeform into monsters. The virus spread globally, sparking war between humanity and the creatures.

Humanity lost. The population collapsed to 750 million.

Since then, humans survived only inside cities encircled by monoliths. Beyond them lay wastelands swarming with monsters. To those monsters, which nearly wiped humanity out, Zeroy felt pure hostility. She'd be happy to cut them down.

Albeit the monsters weren't all she wanted to kill.

There were also the impostors…

In truth, humanity was almost extinct. For while 750 million remained, 99% were impostors.

They wore human skin, but did nothing human.

Zeroy frowned at this world not only because of humanity's dire straits, but because of the atrocities those impostors committed… things so vile they were laughable in their cruelty.

In such a situation, humanity barely existed in name.

Although when she realized she could intervene, Zeroy's brows eased. She held back her cheer, but her smile betrayed her.

Her heart stirred. Her blade stirred.

She would kill that 99% of impostors.

'Purification! This world must be purified!'
