Astrologers, however, read sorrow in the stars. They warned King Dola Shah, "The prince's life will be short unless he weds a young bride at once." Bound by his vow, Dola Shah kept his word and arranged a symbolic child marriage of Rajula and Malushahi.
But soon after, the king died. Courtiers, suspicious and bitter, whispered, "This girl-child is cursed. If Rajula steps into our land, disaster will follow." From that day, Rajula was shunned, her name spoken with dread in Bairath's palace.
