Chapter 20 - Betrayal For Inheritance

On the way back to the VIP room in the hospital, Shael was approached by his second stepbrother, Wahan Rael.

Rael was nothing more than a criminal, hanging around with thugs, doing drugs, beating people, and keeping weapons. All kinds of illegal activities were his hobbies, and he was the second least favourite son of their father. His mother was a bar hostess before having an affair with his father.

"Give the house to us," he sounded nonchalant.

Shael knew his brothers were always fighting for assets, "It belongs to my mother," his voice was calm, "how about my shares?"

"Hey!" Rael chuckled, "Do you think your shares can compare with such a palace?"

"It's not about the palace, it's my mother's house."

Rael pushed him against the wall, his arm pressing against Shael's chest, "You better give it to me while I am asking peacefully!"

"What do you think you are doing?" Kael's voice echoed in the alley.

Rael quickly let go of Shael, gritting his teeth to engulf his anger. Rael never listened to anyone but Kael. It was because he was the one taking care of his messes. In return Rael did his dirty laundry, taking care of issues for him illegally.

Kael glared at Shael before walking away, Rael following him closely.

Ronan wanted to message him and stared at his cell phone time to time while he was working in the company, but he was hesitant as he noticed that Shael was afraid of his father. He didn't want to cause any trouble for him, but he was still worried about his safety.

Shael walked to open the door and noticed his mother coming from the other side.

"Are you here," she turned to the door out of guilt, "he prohibited me from calling you."

Her mother truly loved her son but wasn't able to express it. He was raised by nannies, and she was forbidden from taking care of him because her unnecessary love might make him weaker. He had more pressure as a first son and had to be stronger.

She twisted the doorknob and waited for Shael to enter, who was hesitant at first, then walked in slowly. Shael walked closer to his father.

"What? Do you want more assets?" his father inquired, to which Shael nodded in denial, "Then get out of here. Do I have to see people I don't like right before my death?"

His father expected Shael to fight for assets at this point, that was the whole purpose of reading the will in his presence. He was determined to make any changes he would demand but he wasn't happy with Shael having no interest in the assets until the end.

His father's words cut through his heart like broken pieces of glass. He quietly walked out and went to the waiting area. He occupied one of the seats, took out his phone, and called Ronan.

"Did you arrive safely? Is everything okay?" Ronan's voice made him burst out in tears. Ronan could hear his sobs, "What happened?"

"My father might be terminally ill....." Shael couldn't complete his sentence as he was sobbing heavily.

After a moment Ronan said, "I wish I was there to give you a hug."

"Me too, I just wanna hug you and cry."

"What actually happened?" Ronan asked softly.

"I don't know, no one told me. I just saw him wrapped in tubes and...." Shael sniffled, "he called me here for property share, the attorney was reading his will and...."

Shael was clearly breaking down.

"Shael," Ronan called.

"Mmm?"

"Your family doesn't likes you?"

"It's more like they don't accept me. I'm a mere fragile omega in their eyes who can only bring offspring."

"Okay, baby, listen! You are my Universe in this world. You have your own family now, which is me. So just remember, you don't need anyone to accept you."

At this point Shael stopped sobbing, "And what if someday...."

"There won't be a day like that. As long as I am here, I will never let that happen."

Something tingled inside Rao Ming's chest, and he wiped his tears, "Now that I talked to you, I feel a lot better."

His mother walked up to him, and he quickly hung up, saying, "I will talk to you later."

"I know it's sad, but don't be too sad. You never even had a father figure in your life, what's there to be sad about?" she perched beside him.

"What about you? All you did in your life is love him. How are you hanging?"

Tears came out of her eyes as she leaned back, "I stayed with him all my life, cause that way I was able to at least get a glimpse of him. Now that he is leaving, I don't know what I will do."

"What actually happened to him? He was doing fine a few years ago."

"Previously, he suffered from Omega toxin exposure, but he was doing fine after medication. Recently his hormonal imbalance and pheromone overload became the cause of Alpha's Bane."

"Was he still sleeping around?" Shael looked at her.

"Well, old habits die hard."

Shael looked away and let out a sigh, "He should look at his age, he is seventy!"

"Miss Rami, Father is calling for you," Wahan Mael, Shael's youngest step brother said making Shael look up at him.

He was the youngest brother in his teenage years, with blue eyes and curled hair. As expected from his age, he wasn't interested in assets yet, but he had another level of ego like the new generation. He walked away without greeting Shael. Shael just sat there quietly.

Rael was sitting in front of Kael across the table, while Kael took a sip of soup. They were having dinner.

"You want the house?" Kael asked, taking a bite.

"Not me, my mother wants it."

"What are you planning to do?"

"What could I do?" Rael chuckled awkwardly, as if he saw through him, "I am not planning anything."

"I know you better than anyone. Seriously, what are you planning to do?"

"I don't know, but I just want to kill him," he clamped his jaw shut.

"Then let's kill him," Kael replied nonchalantly.
