Chapter 15 - Falling Deeper

Ronan's cell phone started ringing, and he walked out to take the call. After a long while, he entered with a grim expression. He settled down, his eyes were moist, "I don't know if I need to tell you about it right now."

"Just tell me."

"It's your brother Kael," Ronan's words struck Shael like lightning, "he is the one who framed you. Caelen is his boyfriend. So he embroiled you in a murder at his boyfriend's instructions."

"I know it might be hard to believe but....."

"It's not that hard," Shael's voice trembled, "I can understand. They hated me from the start, so it's nothing new. They think I will fight for dad's assets, although I told them thousands of times I have no interest in money," he turned away and looked out of the window, "but again, how could they believe when the world is a place like that? Everyone fights for money, and they expect me to fight for money as well."

Shael turned to Ronan as he felt a stronger grip at his shoulders, "Still, no one does this to their own family."

"They are trying to get me out of the family register. Dad doesn't like kids who are an utter failure," a tear dropped from his eye.

Ronan leaned towards his face, "You are not a failure. They just don't know your potential, they don't recognise it because they don't like what you can do. With your acting skills, you can dominate the world."

Shael couldn't understand, but every word that came out of Ronan's mouth sounded trustworthy to him. He hated that he was becoming so dependent on him, but he just wanted to rely on him.

At that moment, a nurse entered, "You are ready to be discharged. Congratulations on clearing your name."

"How does she know?" Shael asked, still looking at the nurse.

"It's all on the news," the nurse replied before Ronan could, "take a good rest and spend some quality time with your Alpha."

"My Alpha?" Shael blurted.

"Yes, your Alpha, right here," she gestured to Ronan.

"But how do you know...." He glanced at Ronan, who nodded in denial.

"It's on the news also," she replied while she wrapped the blood pressure cuff to check on his blood pressure.

The nurse completed the check up and turned to Shael, "You two look good together." Then she turned to Ronan, "You are lucky to find such a gorgeous boy," she said playfully before handing Ronan a file, "take this to the front desk, they will explain everything, and then he could be discharged."

As she walked out of the room, a pair of police officers stepped in. One of them uncuffed Shael and stood back with his colleague. Both of them bowed simultaneously. Then the officer who uncuffed Shael spoke, "I apologise for everything, but it seems like you would have to pay for damages the victim suffered. Although he has regained consciousness, he is still suffering through medical complications."

Shael's eyes became moist, "He woke up?"

"Yes, he did, but not in the very best condition," the police officer explained.

"I want to apologise to him, but I'm so ashamed that I didn't even check on the weapon last time, and he got hurt because of me," Shael looked down in his lap, "I will apologise to him personally, but can you deliver my apologies for now?"

Ronan noticed that Shael was blaming himself for everything.

"No worries," the officer turned to Ronan, "you need to come and settle the matter in the police station."

"Sure, we are willing to pay for all damages the victim suffered from. We will send an official apology to the victim," Ronan's words had a strange heaviness and sincerity.

"Then see you at the police station," the police officers walked out.

Ronan packed things and put them into a plastic bag. He was advised with the precautions and filled out the form before they walked out of the hospital where Sorrell was already waiting for them.

He opened the car door for them, and they settled down. The car was headed to Racane in a few moments.

"I have appointed guards at your apartment, so you don't need to worry," Ronan handed a new cell phone to Shael, "I have changed your agent also. He is from special forces, so you don't have to worry about your safety."

"What about my old phone?" Shael flipped the phone twice while observing.

"I think you need to get rid of the negativity."

Shael turned to him, "Is he worried about me? Stupid! Of course he is. It's just that I don't know if he is worried because he loves me or just sympathy for his artist."

Silence took over the car for a long time, and they were just looking out of the windows. Ronan was feeling drowsy as his eyelids were getting heavier, but his head was filled with too many thoughts.

He turned around and stared at Shael while he was leaning against his seat, looking out of the window.

"Shael."

"Mmm," he turned his head to Ronan.

"Do you plan on having kids later?"

"Why are you asking me about that?" an awkward giggle escaped his mouth.

Because taking inhibitors may make you infertile, stupid, Ronan thought.

"Just wondering," Ronan looked serious.

"Well, I don't mind having kids, but never thought about it."

Ronan turned away and looked out of the window once again.

I'm not even staying, why am I thinking about this? Maybe he could find someone after I left and have kids with him, he took a deep breath and closed his eyes, The possibility of him having kids with someone else makes me angry.

He clutched his fists tightly, Am I already deeply in love with him? He glanced at Shael, who was already looking at him and smiled warmly, which he replied with a faint smile.

I think I am.
