Chapter 130 - Verification, Energy, and Follow-up

"How long do we have to wait?" Nick Fury asked the Mage King quietly, watching the two men in front of him finish their work and start drinking tea. Twenty-one minutes had passed since that shocking scene, which meant he had been standing here for twenty-one minutes!

He wanted to go up to the Supreme Mage and say hello, to get to know him, but strangely, no matter how he moved, he couldn't get even a step closer to him, even though he looked only a dozen meters away.

Nick even called out Luke's name a few times, but was stopped by the wizard behind him.

"Don't waste your energy. They can't hear you now, and you can't move forward." The Mage King said.

"Why?" Nick looked at the Mage King with his one eye. "As partners, we should at least get to know each other, right? Besides, don't we need to show these documents we drafted to the Supreme Mage?"

As Nick spoke, he shook a thick file bag in his hand.

"It's very dangerous ahead." The Mage King looked towards the wellhead.

"That big monster?" Nick also saw the monster that fell from the void. It looked like a giant squid and looked uncomfortable. But it was obvious that the other party looked like a dead thing.

"You are not affected because the Supreme Mage has provided protection here. But if you get too close, you won't be able to bear it." The Mage King explained kindly.

"What exactly? Doesn't it look like a corpse?" Nick looked at the metal wellhead.

"Yes, it has become a corpse. But you have to understand that many monsters are not no longer threatening just because they are dead. In fact, many monsters become real trouble only after they die.

As a collaborator, a friendly reminder: Don't judge these dimensional beings with inherent human concepts. Doing so will cause you and your subordinates to suffer greatly.

Just like this monster, if I'm not mistaken, it's a very troublesome monster that roams the edges and cracks of the dimensional world. If you're not protected, the first thing you see of it will affect and control you.

Considering that he might have to deal with Nick more in the future, the Mage King said more.

"What will happen if you are affected? Apart from magic, what should you do if you encounter this kind of monster? How can you avoid being affected and controlled by its mental power? Can a strong will do it?" Nick wanted to know the consequences, as well as the methods of defense and solution.

Since the Mage King was willing to talk more, Nick would naturally take advantage of the opportunity to ask more questions. This information, even if it was just casually revealed by the other party, was something they had previously been unable to access and collect.

"My advice is to run as far as you can." The Mage King glanced at Nick and said solemnly, "A firm will can indeed hold out for a while longer, but I don't think the outcome will change."

Seeing the worry on Nick's face, the Mage King sensed his concern and said comfortingly, "But you don't need to worry about them appearing on this planet. If they appear here, it must be because someone has used some kind of power to bypass the Supreme Mage's barrier and summon them here."

"Is there anyone who can bypass the Supreme Sorcerer's barrier?" Nick's heart suddenly started to alarm.

"Any defense has loopholes. Maybe they are not loopholes, but just a kind of operating rules, which can be used as a breakthrough point. The only thing to be thankful for is that as long as the barrier is still working, it will be difficult for those dimensional demons to come in. As for those summons and believers, that is what we mages need to deal with." Mage Wangdao.

Nick nodded.

Time passed by minute by minute. One hour, three hours, five hours.

Normally, wasting five hours waiting for someone would be unimaginable for a busy man like Nick Fury. He could guess that during these five hours, a large number of important confidential documents that needed to be processed had piled up on his desk.

Yet, at this moment, Nick remained patiently waiting. Of course, he wasn't just waiting idly, but communicating with the Mage King, extracting the information he desired. The Mage King had sensed this from the beginning, but he didn't act as if he knew nothing about Nick's inquiries.

The Mage King didn't hide much of the basic information, answering nearly every question. But when Nick tried to delve deeper, he would evade the topic, evading the issue. After a few attempts, Nick finally understood the Mage King's bottom line.

If he sensed the Mage King was becoming reticent about a particular issue, he would immediately change the subject and continue the conversation. An unspoken understanding had already formed between the two of them.

Nick wanted to know more about magic and the dimensional world, and the Wizard King, as a partner, was willing to share some non-secret information with Nick.

"Can you feel it?" The Supreme Mage suddenly stopped, her hand on the cup as she was about to put it in her mouth. She looked towards the metal well with joy. "The energy concentration is increasing. It seems your verification was successful."

"Yes, that secures the follow-up plan." Luke was also delighted. If the verification failed, he would need to readjust the plan and modify the technology. The time and energy wasted in this process would be incalculable.

"You've done us a great favor. The lineage of Supreme Mages has always had its share of troublesome adversaries. Even if they're defeated, there will always be a ton of subsequent troubles. So often, our greatest trouble isn't defeating a single powerful enemy, but the series of troubles that arise during or after the resolution.

Your technology has at least helped us solve one of the problems we need to face, and even turned it into a good thing." Sensing the new energy lingering within this mirror world, Ancient One opened her hands, and colorful, rainbow-like energy emerged from the air, transforming into strands of thread that wrapped around her fingertips.

"It's truly amazing. After filtering, it's like a pool of colorless water. It changes to whatever color you add. Strictly speaking, it can accommodate any energy of any nature I know of. In other words, energy of other natures won't repel it.

It's truly perfect for mages of the Supreme Mage lineage. Similarly, it can also be suitable for any other." Ancient One analyzed the energy in his hand bit by bit. This is an advantage.

"Then the follow-up plan can be launched. According to what we have agreed, I need the Supreme Sorcerer to provide some materials and manpower." Luke stood up.

"Build a fortress?" Ancient One also stood up. Since Luke had fulfilled his promise, she certainly wouldn't refuse him. This new energy did need some protection in the early stages.

"I prefer to call it a city," Luke said.
