"Ultraviolet bombs, wolfsbane. Looks like you've prepared quite a bit." Nick Fury sighed as he looked at the weapons being handed over to the authorities at the Hybern Industrial Park. He had kindly reminded Luke, but who knew he'd actually prepared so much, so much so that Nick was speechless.
"It's better to be prepared than not." Luke, who was accompanying Nick, looked at the soldiers busy packing boxes and said in a light tone, "After all, you can only make a living with the grant, but I have to make money to support a lot of people. We have to seize the opportunity."
"How much is the salary?" Nick snorted, but didn't poke holes in Luke's words. There was no need to ask about the business matters; more than 90% of it was definitely the work of Miss Ina Sandra. Although in Nick's heart, Luke was also a cunning little fox.
"We'll also provide a portion of these weapons to the SHIELD agents." Nick was still a little envious. While SHIELD could replicate similar technology, why waste time when they already had it? It's not like they wouldn't sell it, right? Problems that can be solved with money are good problems, Nick thought. On the contrary, those that can't be solved with money are the truly intractable ones.
"Of course. Do you need a discount? Considering our friendly relationship, I can give you a 99% discount." Luke didn't mind. He produced this batch of weapons for this war anyway. He didn't care whether they were handed over to the official or to Nick's S.H.I.E.L.D.
"Ha." Nick was almost laughing at Luke's anger. 99% discount? Why don't you raise the price a little more?
Nick couldn't say anything, though. After all, the relationship between the two was far too complicated. He'd even betrayed the symbiote he'd promised Luke, though Luke ultimately took one. Their current relationship, while certainly closely linked through their various collaborations, was undoubtedly close, but to say they were truly close, harmonious, and loving was simply wishful thinking.
"Equip my agent first, and I will transfer the order payment to you later." Nick waved his hand and didn't want to say anything more to Luke.
"Of course, I trust your credibility!" Luke finally said something kind that softened Nick's expression. Then he realized he'd been too kind too soon. "Yina has a whole system of collecting debts. For someone as important as you, this includes but isn't limited to placing advertisements, soliciting within your social circle, and even having friendly discussions with your supervisor."
"You've got a huge misunderstanding of me, little Luke!" Nick said helplessly. You could distrust him in other areas, because he certainly couldn't guarantee his credibility. But when it came to something as trivial as a payment, he still felt he had a degree of credibility. It was nothing more than a grant application process!
"Wolfsbane potion, what's the difference between it and werewolf potion?" Nick changed the subject. He didn't want to talk to Luke about anything related to business and money at all, even though they had been talking about these two issues very enthusiastically and in harmony for a long time.
"It's a byproduct of the werewolf potion, a toxin extracted from werewolf saliva. It affects the physique of vampires, making them dull, sluggish, and weak, and also has a certain effect of hindering wound healing." Luke introduced, "It's a new product, a technology that Dr. Johnson just took out of the laboratory."
"How do you use it?" Nick asked directly.
"Spray grenade." Luke led Nick forward and leaned over to retrieve a silvery-white, palm-sized cylindrical grenade from the still-unsealed box. "Flip the safety and throw it. It will automatically spray a mist layer about twenty meters in diameter, like a smoke bomb. How long it lasts depends on the surrounding environment. If it's well-ventilated, it will dissipate quickly. If it's a closed environment, it will last longer."
"When facing a swarm of vampires, all you need to do is throw a wolfsbane grenade into their midst, then close your eyes and fire away with whatever weapon you like. If you use ultraviolet bullets, you'll probably wipe them out. If you use ordinary gunpowder bullets, you might just end up with a few unlucky creatures who'll collapse to the ground groaning in pain."
"You remind me of something." After listening to Luke's explanation, Nick's mind flickered, a thought resonating with him. "That Dr. Curtis Connors who transformed into a lizard. He seemed to be planning to use some device to spray his lizard potion into the city some time ago. He said that the potion, under the influence of that device, would create a mist that would cover most of the city! Anyone in that area would be infected."
"You want to ask me, if we replace the lizard potion with wolfsbane potion and use that kind of device to spray it out, can we defeat the enemy without fighting and easily paralyze those vampires that are gathering here, right?" Luke understood Nick's meaning almost instantly.
"Can you do it?" Nick asked seriously.
"Of course." Luke answered with certainty.
"Then..." Nick's face lit up with joy.
"But the effect may not be satisfactory." Luke didn't wait for Nick to speak again and continued, "First of all, there is no problem with Dr. Connors' plan, because his goal is to turn people into lizards. This plan can perfectly achieve his goal. But this does not necessarily apply to the wolfsbane potion. The vampires will not immediately become powerless and at the mercy of others just because they breathe the mist of the wolfsbane potion. You have to prevent them from realizing that something is wrong and causing a riot in the entire city! You don't want to see the casualties. No one wants those crazy monsters to get close to the core urban area of the city.
Furthermore, Dr. Johnson's report indicates that wolfsbane has certain effects on both humans and animals, including, but not limited to, inducing certain wolf-like changes in living things, resulting in intense aggression, and potentially slowing down the body's neurons. In severe cases, this can lead to respiratory inability and death from suffocation. Current research indicates that these reactions generally persist over a period of time and resolve over time. However, this does not mean that deaths from accidents are unavoidable.
As a human, you might be able to survive the wolf poison mist longer than the vampires, but their vitality is strong enough to ensure they survive the reaction period. You can't do this without any protection."
"Well, it looks like this time it's a confrontation between the werewolf army and the vampires." Nick nodded thoughtfully after hearing Luke's words. However, he didn't completely abandon this plan. Instead, he regarded it as a last resort! If the battle was a complete defeat, then no matter how reluctant he was, this plan would have to be used.
Although the Knicks think the probability of a major defeat is low, we should still be prepared for the worst.
