Chapter 79 - Fury brand new tool man

The file wasn't large, nor did it contain much information. It only took Nick Fury a few minutes to browse through it. Afterward, he leaned back in his chair and stared at the paused screen, lost in thought.

The paused screen shows information prompts of each experimental subject losing their life.

He wasn't feeling sorry for the lives lost, or anything like that. Perhaps in the eyes of Eddie Brock, Dora, and the others, these people were pitiful, worthy of sympathy, and worthy of standing up and speaking out for them. But Nick's mindset was definitely different from Eddie's!

Does Nick care about the deaths of several people?

Or the death of a few homeless people on the street?

Even if ten or eight of these people disappeared, or ten or eight died, even if their number increased tenfold, and the experiments were ten times more horrific, what would that even mean? What did it have to do with Nick Fury? It wasn't something he should be managing or worrying about! He didn't have that much compassion or kindness to offer.

He'd witnessed countless more horrific and unbearable events in his life. Anyone with a lower mental state and a stronger sense of justice would have already developed psychological problems! And him? His heart had long been hardened to stone. Even if there was any shred of sympathy or kindness left, it wouldn't be extended to these homeless people. So expecting him to stand up for justice over the tragic deaths of a few homeless people was wishful thinking!

Nick is not that idle!

So his attention never lingered even for a second on the bodies of the homeless people who served as test subjects. What he cared about were the strange symbiotes in the videos and pictures! That was what interested him, what he needed to pay attention to and focus on!

After hesitating for a few minutes, Nick finally called Luke. He felt that Luke might have some more important information. How could Nick make a decision based on this information alone? He felt that he should at least communicate with Luke and test his intentions. If possible, Nick would not mind helping him.

After all, their relationship was truly in its honeymoon phase. They had a relatively solid foundation for future cooperation. Nick thought so! If Luke truly had a compelling excuse, he could offer some advice or put some pressure on the other party.

"Have you finished reading the information, Director Fury?" Luke's voice was as relaxed as ever.

"Of course, if you want me to do something, I need more information." Nick held up his phone and emphasized, "More substantial information! Otherwise, you shouldn't come to me for this kind of thing. SHIELD is not responsible for upholding justice. That's the job of the police."

"Those symbiotes are not the product of technological experiments, but alien life."

Luke's words made Nick's expression change instantly.

"Alien life?" Nick asked. He'd been a bit allergic to this alien life lately. If I remembered correctly, his right-hand man, Phil Coulson, was in Texas dealing with a problem involving alien visitors! Nick had even dispatched Hawkeye Clint Barton there. And now this was happening again in California?

What? Are aliens planning to travel here in a group soon?

"A special kind of alien life. As a parasitic organism, they have wisdom, strength, and potential, but they need a suitable host to coexist with to be perfect. Generally speaking, they are a very strange alien life form." Luke replied.

"Wisdom?" Nick always grasps the key point of a sentence.

"Yes, according to intelligence, the host's personality can affect the other, but the other can also affect the host's state and mood. If they have parasitized evil life forms in the past, they will like to parasitize villains or transform their hosts into villains." Luke reminded: "Unfortunately, the ones captured by the Life Foundation have a preference for villains."

"Fuck!"

Nick cursed. Then Luke's next words completely broke his defense.

"According to my informant, Dr. Dora Scholes, the Life Foundation discovered this life form on a comet. It's said there are millions of individuals on that comet, but the truth is uncertain. But Mr. Carlton Drake of the Life Foundation plans to launch another rocket soon to bring all the symbionts on that comet back to Earth.

Regarding Mr. Drake's ambitious goals, does Director Fury have anything to say?"

"He's courting death!" Nick Fury gritted his teeth, "If he dares to launch a rocket, I'll turn him and his rocket into fireworks!"

"So?" Luke's tone was a little teasing.

"So?" Nick sneered. "He wanted to introduce millions of alien creatures to this planet without official permission. His actions and plans seriously endanger world security! He's dead! This happens to fall within the jurisdiction of S.H.I.E.L.D."

"As a reward for giving you such important information, Director, I'll ask for a few symbiotes to study. Is that okay?" Luke began to patch.

"I can grant you this authorization," Nick nodded. As long as you're not so mad as to want to lure millions of uncertain and dangerous alien life forms into this planet all at once, then everything can be negotiated.

Hang up the phone.

Nick Fury gave a wry smile. Why did he feel like Luke had gotten better and better at using him since they started interacting?

However, as a tool, he still has to owe the other party a favor, which is what makes Nick most helpless.

"Agent Romanov." Nick thought for a moment, called Natasha Romanov, and gave her the task.

"In other words, prevent them from launching manned exploration rockets and ensure no symbiote is lost. If Carlton Drake resists, no matter if he lives or dies, right?" Natasha repeated Nick's mission requirements and nodded. She had already inquired about the personnel involved in this mission, and at least three elite tactical teams would be collaborating with her to deal with the Life Foundation.

"When the time comes, you can contact Luke's security chief, Snoke. He'll introduce you to Dr. Dora Scholes, a former Life Foundation employee. Dr. Scholes has a lot of relevant intelligence, and you can plan your mission based on her intelligence. My requirement is speed! Don't let them successfully launch the rocket, otherwise the subsequent impact will be very serious," Nick warned. If possible, it's best not to launch the rocket.
