Chapter 31 - Clear attack against him

"Cecily von Larsen..."

"Alaric D'Arcy..."

"Mary Lynch..."

Among those mentioned who would move on to the advanced class were five students who had just obtained their Path, the one being taught by Cecily, and four others, minor nobles and civilians.

Meanwhile, those who remained in the Basic Class included Ryan, the noble with a loose tooth from the Larsens, one of the veterans, and the rest of the new students.

Alaric frowned and looked at Ryan. "Didn't you show your ability to Project?" he asked, puzzled. It was a question he already knew the answer to, as he had felt it before when it was Ryan's turn.

"I showed it. Why?" Ryan asked.

He also didn't understand why he hadn't been chosen for the advanced class. According to him, he had done very well, but since he wasn't that talented, he thought the rest of the guys had simply surpassed him.

'How strange,' thought Alaric, though he said nothing more.

He didn't need to, because someone else would.

Cecily took two steps forward. "Professor Sara, wait a moment," she said before Sara could leave.

"What is it, Miss Cecily?" she asked.

"This question may sound a little presumptuous, but why did all of them succeed and the most prominent among them fail? Does it have anything to do with the fact that a prince always has greater resources?" she asked directly.

Sara looked at her intently and shrugged. "The advanced class is only for the elite of the group, to tell you the truth. Many may not know this, but it happens every year in the senior classes. Lord Owen was in this class, as were the other seven princes."

Cecily stared at her. "Are you saying that the Ninth Prince is not worthy, then?" she asked, then looked at the five she had named as members of the class. "And they are?"

Sara smiled. "Do you think the girl you taught for an hour is not qualified?" she asked.

"It's not what I think, it's what I see." She was direct.

Sara had to turn serious. "Miss Cecily, you should know that a student's opinion, no matter who they are, has no place in a teacher's affairs," she said, looking at her fiercely. "So I ask you not to meddle in matters you cannot speak about."

With that, she turned and left.

It wasn't a conversation that many people heard. Only Alaric, Ryan, Sawyer, and a few others.

Ryan came up behind Cecily to prevent her from speaking again. "You don't need to say anything else to her," he said.

She turned to look at him. "They're clearly attacking you," she said. "And someone whose status can be degraded by a word from you. Don't you feel pressured to speak up?" she asked.

"Haha, I have no reason to stoop to the level of those kinds of people. I used to respect her for her achievements, but it seems that was just a mask of pure muscle," he replied without hiding his voice, so his words reached Sara's ears, even though she continued walking.

Cecily frowned but nodded. She immediately lost interest in causing trouble for this woman, although she realized what kind of teacher she was.

"Well, if you say so," she said, no longer bothered by it. If the person involved wasn't bothered, why should it bother her?

A few minutes after Sawyer confirmed several things with Professor Sara, he returned to speak to all the students.

He showed them where the advanced class would be held and then took the basic class students aside, as he would be teaching that class.

On the way, he approached Ryan.

"Don't worry, Ninth Prince. Even though you didn't pass the test to become an elite student, I'm sure it's only temporary. Cheer up, even though I'm not as good as Professor Sara, I'll do my best to help you improve," he said with a sincere smile.

Ryan looked at him. "Do you also think I failed the test, Professor Sawyer?" he asked.

Sawyer looked at him, confused. "I didn't see your test or witness your answers, but Professor Sara told me that you don't know the theory and are deficient in practice, so it's normal. Although I don't mean to insult you, you should know that the elite among the newcomers like you usually achieve at least two of the three steps of Projection or Protection. That's quite difficult; not everyone can do it."

Ryan laughed with a clear tone of mockery and stopped responding.

Not only had he achieved all three steps, but he had also been able to materialize Projection, making it advance three meters away, with high power at the outset. Besides, his theory wasn't wrong.

Hell, if the theory of a man who was a demigod and one of the great heroes of 50 years ago was wrong, then nothing in this world would be right.

'I must assume that this woman is part of one of my brothers' factions,' he thought. 'Teachers aren't supposed to take part in this.' He sighed; there was nothing to do but wait. If that woman kept getting in his way, he would find a way to get rid of her.

'Anyway, they'll just deny me access to a few sections, many missions, and resources I don't need. I can make up for that with money.' He resigned himself.

He began studying secondary topics for a whole week in the classroom.

Sawyer taught several topics, such as strengthening the body (theory and practice), martial arts, and weapon knowledge.

Other teachers covered other topics, such as Survival in Ruins, Survival in the Outside World, various topics related to Kazaks, how to deal with them, and more.

During this busy week, he learned a thing or two, although there wasn't much they could teach him. Sometimes, he even participated in class and taught a few things since he was too bored and didn't know anyone in his class.

He spent most of his time shaping his spirit with training in the training area, courtesy of Sawyer, who let him do whatever he wanted after realizing that he knew a lot.

On Saturday afternoon, after classes ended, Cecily went to see him.

"Ryan, do you know anything about the massive theft they say happened inside the castle?" she whispered as they left.
