"I've rented an apartment for you and your sister," she said casually. "You can move there."
She paused briefly, as if recalling something.
"And I'll arrange a job for you soon," she added. "You won't need to worry about expenses."
Her gaze softened slightly. "As for the money… we'll talk about it after your sister is fully cured."
For a second, neither Sean nor Baron reacted. It felt unreal.
'This… this is like a pie falling straight from the sky…'
Sean's brows slowly furrowed. Suspicion crept in.
"Why… are you doing so much for us?" he asked cautiously.
The moment those words left his mouth... Lana blinked.
And then, tears welled up in her eyes.
They gathered quickly, shimmering under the dim light before slipping down her cheeks.
Sean's heart clenched violently.
It felt as though something had stabbed straight through his chest. It wasn't romance.
It was something deeper... an instinct, raw and protective, that he couldn't even begin to explain.
