Chapter 1 - Banning killing is cost-effective

In a certain year, a high-ranking official in a certain region hosted a grand banquet, inviting many guests to gather together. The atmosphere was lively, and both the host and guests were enjoying themselves. However, during the banquet, an elderly official suddenly felt extremely drowsy, his eyelids heavy, and soon fell into a deep sleep at his seat. The others tried to wake him up, but to no avail. After a long while, the official finally slowly awoke, his expression somewhat dazed. He muttered to himself, "How strange! I was just summoned to another world, where I met a long-deceased relative. This relative told me, 'Now, the ruler of the underworld is a famous general from the Song Dynasty, and I serve under him. During your life, you held office as a county magistrate and failed to issue an order to ban the slaughter of pigs, which resulted in the loss of several years of your life. Fortunately, due to my connections with the King of Hell, I managed to secure some extra time for you.'"

The official quickly rebutted, "I distinctly remember issuing such a ban at the time, and the related documents are still on file." The relative, upon hearing this, appeared somewhat surprised and asked, "Could it be that something was missed during the check?" He then instructed others to verify the matter again. After a short while, another divine being brought forward the original decree banning the slaughter of pigs. The relative was overjoyed and immediately reported the matter to the underworld's ruler, successfully restoring some of the official's lost lifespan. He then instructed the messenger to escort the official back to the human world.

Back at the banquet, all the guests were deeply astonished by this strange experience. They unanimously swore never to eat pork again. Although the entire event might have been a vision or a dream, when the banquet concluded, the official's lifespan had indeed been extended, and the cause-and-effect connection of the decree remained engraved in everyone's minds.
