Chapter 4 - The City That Forgot Itself

The Sutra dims.

Its verses flicker like dying stars.

Adam, Sora, and Riku arrive at Mnemosyne, a city built on remembrance. But something's wrong.

No one knows their name.

No one knows the sky.

No one knows they're forgetting.

 Mnemosyne

The city is beautiful.

Too beautiful.

Every building is symmetrical.

Every street leads back to itself.

Every person smiles—but their eyes are empty.

Riku whispers:

"This place is cursed."

Sora replies:

"No. It's curated."

Adam touches a wall.

It ripples.

A memory bleeds through:

A child screaming as their name is taken.

He recoils.

"We're being watched."

The Memory Market

They find a bazaar.

No goods.

Only memories.

A vendor offers:

A first kiss (cost: your mother's voice) The taste of victory (cost: your childhood pet) The truth about Mnemosyne (cost: your real name)

Riku trades his birth for a map.

Sora trades his first fight for a blade that remembers its wielder.

Adam trades nothing.

The Sutra whispers:

"The archivist does not barter. He rewrites."

The Map of Forgotten Paths

The map leads to the Heart of Mnemosyne—a tower made of mirrors.

Each floor reflects a version of the trio:

Adam as a tyrant. Sora as a martyr. Riku as a god.

They climb.

Each reflection tries to convince them to stay.

Riku punches his mirror.

Sora weeps at his.

Adam rewrites his.

The Relic: Eidolon

At the top, they find Eidolon—a cursed relic that feeds on identity.

It speaks in voices stolen from others.

"You are not real."

"You are not remembered."

"You are not enough."

Sora attacks.

It forgets him mid-strike.

Riku laughs.

It forgets why it feared him.

Adam opens the Sutra.

He writes:

"Eidolon was never born."

The relic screams.

Then vanishes.

The Reaper's Response

In the Hollow Vale, the Reaper pauses.

It feels the rewrite.

It feels the resistance.

It begins to remember something it was never meant to:

Its own name.

And the world begins to tremble.
