Opening the door, Riley comes face to face with the last person he ever expected, or wanted to see again. The shock of it almost makes him slam the door shut right in the man's face.
"Henry is not home," Riley says tightly, his voice laced with restraint, every word dragged out by the sheer force it takes to speak to him at all.
"I know that," Adam replies smoothly, stepping past him and entering the house as though it belongs to him.
He doesn't even wait for permission. He walks in with that easy arrogance that makes Riley's skin crawl, leaving him at the doorway wondering what the hell this man is doing here.
If he knows Henry isn't home, then why come? Is he planning to wait for him? But wait.. yesterday's introduction sounded like they worked together. Didn't they work in the same place? If that's true, then Adam must have just left Henry at work only to come straight here. Why?
