Chapter 2 - 2. To think is to be.

Weeks early.

Japan, Saitama, Saitama Medical Center.

It's been a while since I woke up in this hospital.

At first I was confused, how could I not be? Not only I woke up in an unknown hospital, but suddenly I was able to speak a new language.

I was truly surprised at understanding Japanese, I recognized a few words before but now I was able to speak it fluently.

Now, being able to understand a new language and being in a whole other country is already unusual enough, but it was only when I was able to see myself I confirmed it

I was young. Far younger than I should be.

My features were also different from what I expected, yet they didn't feel wrong.

Short reddish hair and eyes alongside a sickly pale skin. The skin seems to be new, a consequence of what made me come to the hospital.

So, I can at least say that I was either reincarnated or transmigrated.

In order to confirm, I asked for the hospital staff for a map of Japan. This way I could at least find out if this world is different from my own or not. I know a bit about Japan's map so I should be able to figure out if any difference exist.

And well, there it is. Two places immediately took my attention, in the outskirts of the Kanto Region I could find the city of Misaki, where the Visual Novel 'Witch on the Holy Night' and the original 'Tsukihime' took place.

Not only that, but in the Ōita Prefecture I was able to find the city of Fuyuki, so I was pretty sure I am in the Nasuverse.

Which is both a good and a bad thing.

It's good because I know quite a bit about the Nasuverse, so I know enough in order to thrive in this world.

...the bad thing is that this is the Nasuverse. A place where sociopathic mages and inhuman monsters are the norm. This world has like ten apocalypses a day.

So yeah, I need to act carefully.

Specially since I am pretty sure I can't avoid the supernatural anyway. The whole 'waking up without memories and inside a new body' reeks of magecraft.

Because of that I already have a theory as for why I am here.

In 'Fate/Extra' it's said the human being is made from three parts: Body, Mind and Soul.

The body is just a vessel to contain the other two.

But the other two have a far more important function.

In 'Fate/Extella' after having his Mind and Soul separated, Hakuno Kishinami lost his memories but was able to recall some information.

I believe I am in a similar situation. This body's soul was mostly likely destroyed, or at the very least heavily damaged. And my soul replaced or was used to mend it. The mind was also most likely fractured and my own mind was used to restore it. That could explain why I have certain knowledge like how to speak Japanese but know nothing about this current body. Actually I don't recall anything about my previous self either, so I retained my knowledge but not my memories...

Well, who cares? I have no memories of before so may as well look for the after.

Now, from what I gathered from the hospital's nurses I am not the only one who 'lost his memories'. So, the event that destroyed this body's soul was most likely intentional and done to others.

The problem is that the responsible for it disappeared, and to make matters no evidence as left.

Now, there are a few options for why is that.

First, the person was a Magus/Dead Apostle or the like and was able to fully hide himself. But I doubt it, there were too many people and not nearly enough time, so unless it was an entire group or some sort of extremely specialized user of mind magecraft I don't think that is viable.

The second option is honestly insane, but would explain why I am here.

Someone tried to reach the 'root'. Perhaps they hoped that by separating the soul and mind from the body they would be able to locate them returning to the root? Some type of bastard 'Heaven's Fell' ritual? If that's the case they most likely were erased. Magus have the weird idea that the root is some sort of unreachable thing, but while it's hard to reach it it's not impossible. But if you touch it carelessly you just get inside it, and consequently gets erased from the world, no one will even remember you, like you never existed. It's why becoming a Magician is so hard, they stare at the root but turn their back at it, achieving True Magic. Or well, that's what I recall at least, maybe I am completely wrong, not sure how accurate my knowledge is.

But thinking about that is worthless.

I am in a new world, with countless mysteries to explore and with things I could never even hope to learn before!

I want to learn Magecraft!

I want to go to the Clock Tower and laugh at the average magus stupidity!

I want to see misteries taking shape!

Damn, I want to meet a Heroic Spirit! Even a Dead Apostle Ancestor would cool!

Why should `I care if someone did or not made an entire mess?

I will do whatever I want, and if anyone have a problem with that, I will fight them.

...

Now I just need to activate my magic circuits and start trying to use magecraft.

Wait, do I even have magic circuits?

...

Who am I kidding? I just got isekai'd, there is no way I am an average guy. Even if for some reason I somehow don't have magic circuits I would have some ability like Mystic Eyes or some weird Origin.

I don't believe in coincidences. If I got to this world there must be a reason why.

...

After all, who in their right mind would think they're a normal guy?

Wanting to be special is a natural feeling for any human. The mere idea of been an 'NPC' is rejected by our brain.

We as humans NEED the idea of being special. Without that we're no different from an animal, existing merely because of our instincts.

...Well unless you're Kokutou Mikiya but that guy is so normal that he ends up being weird. I mean, he did marry Shiki after all.

But that's a thought for another day.

...

Now, activating your magic circuits is far annoying than it should be. Not because it's hard, but because it's not overly explored in the Nasuverse. If you don't come from a Magi Family the chance of having your magic circuit activated are basically null and the series never shows in detail how it's done.

But...

Huh, there is that method isn't there?
