Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Darkness Always Strikes When You Feel Safe

The next morning, Hestia woke up stretching, cheerfully greeted Kuro, then told him she'd be attending a gathering of gods and wouldn't be back for a few days.

Watching Hestia leave in a hurry, Kuro also finished washing his face and got ready to head out!

Putting on the light armor they'd bought yesterday, carrying his weapon, checking his potions and bandages, he pushed open the door and left the room.

Blue Papilio a rare type that appears on dungeon floors 7-9. Four transparent blue wings flutter while scattering glittering powder. The appearance is clearly monstrous but also has a beauty that leaves people stunned.

Kuro gripped a pair of those wings tightly, mercilessly swinging his sword and cutting it in half.

Taking the magic stone dropped by the Blue Papilio, he felt a bit dizzy.

Kuro pulled out a bottle of antidote from the bag on his leg and drank it.

"Looks like this is my limit." Staring at the scratches on his body armor, Kuro on the ninth floor couldn't help but let out a heavy sigh.

Even though he'd been super careful avoiding monster attacks, he still kept getting hit by monsters.

Suddenly, Kuro felt a monster appear behind him. Before he could turn around, his leg already felt a strong pull.

Caught off guard, Kuro fell to the ground, got dragged backward, and was finally swallowed by a giant frog.

Right then, Killer Ants, War Shadows, Purple Moths and various other monsters suddenly appeared in huge numbers. The situation immediately became incredibly dangerous.

"Haha!"

Before he could even let out a scream of pain, a sharp sword wrapped in black flames already pierced through the middle of the giant frog's forehead. Instantly, a hand gripped tight from that wound, then tore hard to both sides.

The giant frog immediately ripped into two parts, then got consumed by black flames.

A black shadow with its entire body wrapped in black flames slowly emerged.

A black shadow flashed in front of Kuro, sharp claws scratching toward Kuro's shoulder, trying to tear him apart.

But those claws only managed to tear skin, then got blocked by hard muscle.

Kuro gripped his sword handle with his other hand, without hesitation driving the sword straight into the War Shadow's heart.

"Just die already!"

The War Shadow consumed by black flames didn't even leave behind a magic stone.

Red eyes staring at the horde of monsters getting closer, Kuro smiled coldly without expression.

"This is more like it. If you all don't want to kill me, how can I bear to kill you?"

Kuro, his anger blazing, could no longer control his mind, charging into the monster horde.

A few moments later!

The black flames died out, Kuro sat on the ground panting, drinking a bottle of stamina potion.

Something's not right!

Nine out of ten things aren't right.

Before, when a monster feast appeared in the goblin nest, you could call it an area trap, but now he's on the regular path of the ninth floor how the hell could there still be a monster feast?

If monster feasts really could happen on the ninth floor, then the guild's records about the highest floor where monster feasts occur wouldn't be the tenth floor, but the ninth.

Suddenly, a strange smell entered his nose. Kuro rubbed the tip of his nose.

Earlier when defeating monsters he hadn't noticed, but now that things were calm, this weird smell became clear.

Following the direction of the thick smell, Kuro reached an inconspicuous corner.

Seeing the meat that kept beating like a heart on the ground, Kuro fell silent.

Without warning, blazing black flames burst from Kuro's body.

The black flames that had already drunk monster blood and stabilized now became extremely vicious.

Bloody meat a tool made by adventurers to lure monsters.

'Can't this world accept me? Why does it have to target me? When I watched the anime, weren't most of the characters good people? Why is it like this!'

"Aaaaah, aaaah!!!"

Hysterical roars exploded from the depths of Kuro's throat.

Tap!

Kuro, who was already on the verge of losing control, heard the footsteps of several people. His red pupils moved, turning toward the source of the sound and charging.

Right now Kuro just wanted to kill... kill everyone in this world.

...

"Sorry, Ais-san, for troubling you again."

Hugging her magic staff, Lefiya said sadly to Ais.

"Haha, Lefiya, you're way too timid." Tiona laughed.

"That's because this idiot missed one monster." Tione smacked her dumb sister's head.

"Can't help it killing weak monsters over and over gets boring."

"It's fine, I'll protect Lefiya properly." Ais said flatly to Lefiya.

"Ugh~, I'll work hard, I'll definitely be able to help Ais-san."

It's been three years since reaching Lv5, and lately her status growth has been getting slower. Sometimes going to the dungeon once on an expedition only changes by a single digit all of this made Ais increasingly restless.

She wanted to become strong!

Her frequent dungeon trips naturally caught Finn, Riveria and the others' attention.

So Finn had the Tione and Tiona sisters plus Lefiya accompany Ais to the dungeon.

On one hand they could watch out for each other, on the other hand he hoped the group could ease Ais's mood.

This time, the four who'd been in the dungeon for two or three days were on their way back to the surface.

Suddenly they heard roaring from not far away.

The three immediately drew their weapons and became alert, Lefiya also raised her magic staff, asking tensely: "What... what's happening?"

"Don't know, something's coming." Ais looked around warily, sensing a monster's aura.

"Finally something interesting... you guys don't interfere, let me handle it."

Tiona's eyes gleamed, raising her weapon Urga, a double-bladed greatsword.

This double-bladed greatsword was a first-class weapon forged without mercy using precious materials by blacksmiths who worked day and night.

"Hey, Tiona you idiot, don't underestimate it."

Even though this was the upper floors, Tione still warned her dumb sister, afraid she'd let her guard down.

"It's fine, it's fine." Seeing the attacking figure wrapped in black flames all over its body, Tiona raised her weapon and happily charged.

The moment Tiona came into view, the black flames that had already been extremely vicious surged three times more violently.

"You guys again... Amazons!"

A hoarse voice drifted over. Tiona hadn't expected the opponent to actually be human, clearly startled.

Facing Kuro's pair of red pupils full of hatred.

Those eyes full of hatred were crazy enough to want to eat her alive.

In just an instant, the sword had already reached Tiona's eyes, as if the next second it would pierce through.

"Ah!" Lefiya was shocked seeing this scene.

Too bad the difference between them was too huge. Tiona's Urga attacked later but arrived first, throwing Kuro from the side.

Just a casual attack from a Lv5, and Kuro was already sent flying to the side.

Feeling his ribs constantly breaking, Kuro's entire body slammed hard into the wall, sending many stone fragments flying.

Puh!!!

Spitting blood, his vision started blurring.

Even though his body was sending limit warnings, right now he only wanted to kill the Amazon in front of him. Kuro endured the incredible pain and stood back up supporting his body.

Taking one step forward ready to attack again, his body then fell forward and he passed out.

"So it was a human after all... I thought it was some unknown monster." After throwing the person, Tiona finally realized: "His eyes were really scary just now!"

"Hey, Tiona, your weapon." Lefiya suddenly pointed at Tiona's Urga.

Tiona looked down and saw at the tip of Urga, a clump of black flames kept burning.

"Ah, my Urga." Tiona swung her weapon hard, wanting to extinguish the black flames on it.

Unfortunately it was useless Tiona could only watch her beloved Urga get burned by black flames until there was a fist-sized hole.

Ais and Tione came together to where Kuro was.

Seeing the black flames extinguished, Kuro lying on the ground unconscious, Ais blinked and looked at Tione questioningly: "What should we do?"

Originally Tione wanted to say he attacked first so they didn't need to care, but after seeing Ais's eyes, she hesitated for a moment then said: "Anyway, let's bring him to the surface first."
