Chapter 42 - Chapter 42 : Purgatory unleashed

The prison was drowning in chaos. Sparks of gunfire and smoke licked the steel corridors as alarms blared in a shrill symphony of panic. From within the storm of violence, Evolve emerged. His body glowed with surging energy, veins illuminated as his aura twisted with fury. His muscles, retracted and compressed tightly beneath his skin, made every line of his frame look sharper, harder. His chest was bare, and from his very presence, the atmosphere thickened with dread.

"I will have my revenge," Evolve declared, his voice low but shaking the hall like a thunderclap. With a single motion, he smashed open every prison cell door in sight. Metal bent like paper, locks shattered into dust. In seconds, every prisoner was freed.

The newly released inmates gathered, their eyes burning with confusion and suspicion. One among them, bold enough to step forward, narrowed his eyes at the figure standing atop a mountain of shredded security robots.

"You freed us?" the man asked cautiously.

"Yes," Evolve replied, his voice laced with cold authority. "You all owe me your lives now. From this moment, you work for me."

Murmurs swept through the prisoners. One stepped forward, his voice sharp with defiance.

"Ain't no way. You can't just think you can take control of us because you saved us. Instead, you help us get outside—then we—"

His words were cut short. In a flash too fast for the eye to follow, his head was torn from his body. The crowd froze, horrified, as Evolve lifted the severed head in his right hand.

"If you want to end up like this," Evolve growled, his eyes glowing with venomous light, "then resist me. Even in your hearts."

The silence that followed was suffocating. Fear and awe clashed in the air until finally, one of the prisoners dared to speak.

"What is it you want us to do?" the man asked, trembling.

"Arm yourselves. Pick up weapons. We are going into the Dark Continent to gather our brothers and sisters. Together, we will wipe out every single human in this world." His voice burned with fury as they advanced down the corridor, releasing more prisoners along the way.

"How do you think we can escape this place?" one prisoner asked while strapping a rifle to his shoulder.

"You'll have to trust me," Evolve said, his aura flaring as he absorbed more and more energy, his presence swelling like a growing storm.

Then the ground trembled. A full squad of five hundred soldiers flooded into the hall, shields raised, rifles aimed in perfect formation.

"Stop!" their leader barked. "Return to your cells immediately or be incinerated where you stand!"

A single bullet was fired. It tore through the air and struck Evolve's skull. His head exploded in a burst of gore. Gasps ripped through the crowd of prisoners.

"Now," the officer sneered, lowering his rifle, "if you don't want to end up like that, return to your cells. All of you."

But the officer's body shuddered. The air turned icy as something unnatural coiled behind him.

"You should always make sure the person you're trying to kill is actually dead…" a voice rumbled.

Evolve stepped forward, his skull regenerating, flesh knitting back together as if death had only brushed past him. He walked toward the soldiers, his glowing eyes reflecting pure malice.

"Fire!" the commander screamed in panic. "Don't stop shooting!"

Bullets rained like a storm. Blasts of energy tore through the air. Evolve only laughed. The projectiles froze midair before him, his will alone holding them in place. Then, with a single thought, he turned the storm back. Bullets and blasts shredded the soldiers, killing them with their own firepower.

"Damn you!" another officer roared, drawing a long blade and channeling energy into it. He pointed it at Evolve. "Fight me, damned creature! If you win, I'll let you live!"

"Very well," Evolve replied, his arm morphing into a gleaming blade. "I'll hold back… slightly."

The officer screamed, surging forward at hyper speed. His blade clashed against Evolve's neck with all his strength, sparks flashing. Again and again he struck, hacking at reinforced flesh harder than iron.

"How..." the soldier gasped in disbelief.

"I reinforced my body. You cannot do that, can you?"

Before the soldier could respond, Evolve moved. In one merciless stroke, he cleaved the man's head from his shoulders and drained his life force, letting his body collapse lifelessly.

"Next?" Evolve muttered coldly, his glowing eyes cutting through the survivors.

Fear clawed at their hearts, but the commander shouted desperately. "Do not back down! Hold him until reinforcements arrive! Fire everything you have!"

The soldiers obeyed, unleashing a storm of bullets and energy blasts. Evolve kept walking, step by step, as though the attacks were nothing more than rain.

"Don't stop!" the commander cried, his voice breaking. But when he looked up, his words died in his throat.

A tall figure with long green hair stood before him, radiating killing intent so overwhelming it froze his blood.

"Gentlemen…" Lucian's voice was calm, almost mocking. "…I hate to break it to you, but you are already dead."

In an instant, the battlefield was drenched in crimson. At light speed, Evolve tore through all four hundred fifty soldiers, leaving nothing but mangled corpses in a rain of blood.

Evolve raised his head, crimson droplets streaking across his face. Behind him, the prisoners stood paralyzed.

"We should move," he said coldly. "There are still brothers and sisters waiting to be freed."

And so they marched, deeper into the halls, slaughtering every officer in their path, tearing down walls, and breaking chains as they released more and more prisoners into their swelling army.

Meanwhile, outside the prison walls, chaos had already erupted. The sky darkened as monstrous creatures from Aragon's palace poured into the battlefield. They were not of this world..winged, towering, with muscular alien forms. Each carried weapons sharp enough to pierce steel. Their screeches echoed like war drums as they tore through officers and prisoners alike.

On the upper floors of the prison, two figures advanced through the halls. Aragon and Lucian walked side by side, their steps calm amidst the storm of carnage.
