Chapter 214 - Shocked to Hear of the Timeline War

"The Extremis Virus is now usable, and it won't be long before a batch of Extremis Soldiers can be mass-produced. However, Extremis Soldiers are ultimately just an emergency product. If we want to make humans leap forward and become Gods, that's difficult. But in the Marvel universe, theoretically, the underlying principles of any power can be analyzed with science, so there's still hope.

The Earth's timeline is now a complete mess. Not long ago, Dr. Killian was publicly taken down by the Avengers, and I can't make sense of the current timeline at all.

So, is this the point in time when Killian appears?

I'm completely lost, but considering this chaotic timeline, it seems understandable. Speaking of which, the timeline, isn't it going to be pruned? Or just directly blown up?"

Lin Feng's updated diary once again summoned the busy crowd. Yes, everyone had been incredibly busy lately.

Especially as they got closer to the 2012 time node, they could see the Avengers' busy preparations.

Even when fighting criminals, they seemed to be in a rush.

For example, the Avengers took the time to raid Aldrich Killian's research institute and had a big battle with the Extremis Soldiers inside. Although the scale couldn't compare to its peak, Killian had already accumulated a lot of Extremis Soldiers by this point.

This time, the Avengers wiped them all out under the guise of counter-terrorism.

They also seized a large amount of Extremis Virus and related research materials.

Tony Stark was really swamped right now. He had to study the Extremis Virus, develop his own armor, and also inherit his father's legacy by redeveloping the Super Soldier Serum.

Nick Fury also sent him relevant materials and samples.

Tony Stark was also very clear that the samples of hair, skin tissue, and blood samples came from Captain Rogers.

This was also a way for Captain Rogers to express his apology, but he still silently accepted it. It wasn't just because enhancing Earth's side's strength was important right now.

The most important thing was that he didn't seem so angry anymore.

Actually, he understood a lot of the logic. After all, his father had been gone for twenty years, and frankly, Winter Soldier Bucky was just a weapon.

This was easy to understand, and that was how he'd understood it before.

The problem was whether he could let it go.

And he'd found a reason for himself: a great enemy was approaching.

Of course, he still didn't want to see Winter Soldier Bucky, because he knew Winter Soldier Bucky had been found.

Although no one in S.H.I.E.L.D. had revealed this to him, he still knew. After all, he had Jarvis constantly infiltrating S.H.I.E.L.D.'s internal network, and some things couldn't be hidden from him.

But even though he knew, he pretended not to, because once he knew, the Avengers would inevitably split. So, when necessary, he had to pretend not to know.

Sometimes, when he needed to play dumb, he had to play dumb.

Tony Stark felt like he was being self-deprecating. Perhaps this was what maturity was all about, learning to see through things without saying anything.

Soon, the Avengers all came online. Another update to the diary pulled them out of their busy work, giving them a chance to breathe.

"Tony, how's the Extremis Virus research coming along?" Nick Fury asked.

Tony Stark glanced at Nick Fury and said, "Need you ask? With my intelligence, it goes without saying that it's beyond question. According to Jarvis's calculations, the success rate of the new formula I've developed has reached one hundred percent, and there are no more safety issues!"

Tony Stark said proudly. With his brain, improving something like this was easy.

That Aldrich Killian was too stupid. He was not as smart as him.

Something Aldrich Killian couldn't figure out, Tony Stark solved it immediately.

For him, this wasn't difficult at all. At the same time, he was also developing the Super Soldier Serum and his own armor.

If Aldrich Killian knew about this efficiency, he'd probably jump off a building right away.

"That's good. Send over the formula, and we'll start preparing the experiment immediately!" Nick Fury said. "We'll need it later!"

Whether it was for fighting the Chitauri or HYDRA, the need for a large number of high-end combat forces was the same.

Especially recently, the more he investigated, the more he was shocked by HYDRA's power.

Many special operations teams of S.H.I.E.L.D. that he thought he controlled turned out to be HYDRA. After calculating, he found that only one-third of the actual special operations teams belonged to S.H.I.E.L.D.!

What was the point of fighting? Just flip the table! Ordinary S.H.I.E.L.D. employees weren't as numerous; most were normal people who joined through regular channels. However, once they reached a certain level, HYDRA members increased.

Apparently, HYDRA wasn't interested in completely turning S.H.I.E.L.D. into its own force. On the contrary, it wanted to use S.H.I.E.L.D.'s shell as a source of sustenance, completing a parasitic process.

This made Nick Fury very anxious. Therefore, he couldn't afford to fall out with HYDRA now. If they started fighting now, the losses would be too great, much more difficult than later fighting the remnants of HYDRA in Sokovia.

If they could quietly create a batch of Extremis Soldiers, it would fundamentally change S.H.I.E.L.D.'s high-end combat capabilities.

Tony Stark thought for a moment and said, "No problem, I'll have Jarvis send it over later. So, even Lin Feng's stuff is done now?"

He glanced at the diary and saw that Lin Feng's progress was already complete.

"That Dr. Connors isn't so dumb after all, not bad!" Tony Stark said, quite pleased with himself.

Even though this was in the biochemical field, which he wasn't particularly good at, and even though he was juggling multiple projects while Dr. Connors was focused solely on this one, he still thought the achievement was decent.

After all, there were so few super geniuses like him in the world. How could he expect ordinary people to be the same?

He thought this with a smug expression, but then he saw the contents of Lin Feng's diary.

"He actually wants to evolve humanity into Gods... Can I understand this as him finally having a sense of belonging and identification with this world?" Tony Stark stroked his chin and said.

During this time, he and Nick Fury had been worried that Lin Feng didn't have any sense of belonging or identification with this universe, with this world.

This could turn him into a ruthless killing machine at a critical moment.

It's like playing a game, treating ordinary people as NPCs. This mindset is terrifying. Think of a certain game, let's call it "L.A.S.", where people unleash their inner demons without restraint.

Because it's just a game, just data.

Who cares about data?

But now, seeing that Lin Feng still wants to help humanity ascend to become Gods, it shows that he's no longer as indifferent to this world as he was at the beginning.

This is undoubtedly excellent news for them. At least, the probability of Lin Feng becoming an uncontrollable time bomb has decreased.

When he saw Lin Feng say he couldn't understand the current timeline, he couldn't help but laugh. Of course, he couldn't understand it, because the root cause of many timelines being disrupted was actually Lin Feng's own existence.

He just doesn't know it.

This feeling was strange. Everyone knew why, except Lin Feng, the source. Or perhaps, he hadn't even considered it.

Especially as his strength grew, he became increasingly numb to changes in the timeline, because the changes had less and less impact on him.

For example, the matter of Aldrich Killian being eliminated early. If it were the old him, he would have been very wary, but now, he was only slightly stunned.

Because he no longer needed to care about changes to this level of timeline.

After all, compared to those major events, it was nothing, and even paying extra attention felt like a waste of time.

This was completely different from his mindset when he had just transmigrated.

This change also made everyone uneasy.

"Timeline pruning, timeline explosion... the things he says are scarier and scarier!" Hawkeye Barton said. "But how do you even do that? Time doesn't really exist, it's just a perception of the flow of things!"

"But who's going to be responsible for blowing up this timeline?" Black Widow Natasha asked. "Lin Feng hasn't mentioned that organization in a while, the TVA!"

Everyone then remembered that in Lin Feng's diary, the only entities related to time that he had mentioned and worried about being targeted by were the Ancient One and the TVA.

They were already very clear about how terrifying the Ancient One was.

A Father-level big shot, possessing the Time Stone, able to reverse time, and slaughtering dimensional demons as easily as killing chickens and dogs; the demons she had killed could circle the solar system.

In short, a big shot among big shots, one of the ceiling-level existences in the current Marvel universe that they knew of.

Since this TVA was mentioned by both Lin Feng and the Ancient One, it was likely an existence of the same level, an existence of extreme terror.

Whether an organization or an individual, at least they wouldn't be any weaker than the Ancient One, right?

[Whether it's pruned away or directly blown up, there's essentially no difference. The TVA's style of operation has always been very overbearing; they don't care whether others are willing or not. Timelines they deem incorrect must be completely resolved.

Although I can understand their intentions a lot of the time, if they did nothing, countless timelines would spread out, leading to a timeline war. The number of deaths then would probably be even greater.

But as an ordinary person, I really don't want to be pruned.
