Chapter 153 - Shock! Vision Is Actually JARVIS?

If it had been someone like Hawkeye Barton, openly standing against him with blades drawn and guns raised, he could still accept it.

But the problem was that Natasha—Black Widow—stood by his side on the surface, yet wasn't actually on his side at all. That was what truly made it unbearable.

In short, it felt like betrayal—being betrayed by someone he trusted.

"But fortunately, none of it has happened yet. Everything is still preventable, isn't it?"

At this moment, Nick Fury spoke up, offering a bit of comfort to Tony Stark.

Tony took a breath and calmed down slightly. In this situation, he wasn't standing on the moral high ground.

This was his misjudgment. That doctor really did have a problem.

"But what about what it says here? My parents? What's wrong with what happened to my parents?" Tony asked.

Everyone shook their heads. They all knew at least something about Tony's parents—how they died in a car accident.

But now, it seemed there was… something more to it.

Tony looked at Steve Rogers. Steve shook his head and said, "What could I know? I was frozen for seventy years."

Everyone thought for a moment. That actually made sense.

What could he possibly know after being encased in ice for decades?

Even Tony began to think maybe he was being overly sensitive.

"And that agreement… It looks like all the problems stem from that agreement. But does anyone know what it actually is?" Bruce Banner asked.

"My guess is it's something to restrict the actions of superheroes," Tony said after thinking for a moment. "I think, later on, something must have happened—then the authorities decided they wanted to control us. And honestly, you guys from S.H.I.E.L.D. should know that better than anyone. After all, what was S.H.I.E.L.D. created for? You should know its original purpose."

The S.H.I.E.L.D. members nodded. When put that way, they immediately understood.

Indeed, the original creation of S.H.I.E.L.D. was to handle all sorts of supernatural incidents.

If it had only been for scientific research or simple intelligence operations, there would've been no need for an organization like this.

Each major country already had its own intelligence agency.

The reason the five great powers joined forces to form S.H.I.E.L.D. was because many supernatural events were global in nature—not problems a single nation could handle.Later on, it gradually became the American S.H.I.E.L.D., but that was another story.

"Exactly. And if we're talking about government officials… there's no way they wouldn't want to impose restrictions," Nick Fury added.

Forget the government—even he didn't feel comfortable letting so many superheroes roam outside the system, completely unchecked.

Especially with superheroes who possessed power beyond human imagination.

The internal Civil War they just witnessed already proved why supervision was necessary. These individuals were too strong—any random destructive act far exceeded what a normal special forces team could handle.

"But I don't think it's a good idea," Steve Rogers said. "We're not criminals. Treating us this way feels like treating us as criminals."

"But Captain, a lot of times things aren't as simple as what we want," Bruce Banner spoke up. "You're all normal people—maybe you don't feel it deeply. But the Hulk inside me is an unstable factor. If he loses control, the consequences are disastrous. Without someone managing it, he could wipe out several blocks easily. Maybe having officials keeping an eye on us isn't a bad thing."

Everyone fell silent.

Even now, the Avengers were already divided internally.

Steve Rogers absolutely refused to be monitored—he saw it as a betrayal of freedom.

Bruce Banner, on the other hand, supported oversight because of the danger of the Hulk.

Tony Stark… actually agreed with Steve more—but because they had just argued, his pride wouldn't allow him to support Steve's stance.

The atmosphere grew unbearably heavy. No one knew what to say.

After a while, seeing that no more information was coming, the group gradually dispersed.

But this time, they dispersed with a heavy weight on their hearts.

The Avengers fighting a Civil War… splitting apart… War Machine being injured and paralyzed…

The outcome was nothing short of tragic.

No one had ever imagined they would one day fight each other—and fight that fiercely.

The question looming over everyone's mind only grew deeper:Was all of this really only because of the agreement?

After leaving the video meeting, Tony finally spoke to JARVIS:

"JARVIS, Vision's voice… it sounded almost exactly like yours. And in the future, I apparently didn't use you as the AI, but switched to Friday… Do you think it's possible that Vision is actually you?"

"Sir, after comparing the voiceprints, they are indeed identical. So Vision is very likely a future version of me—one that has obtained a physical body," JARVIS replied.

"A physical you? So in the future I must've made you into a robot, and that's why I changed the AI to Friday… That actually makes sense," Tony said, touching his chin.

Given his personality, of course he wouldn't prepare only one version of anything.

In fact, he'd created several backup AIs—each with different emphasis.

Even though they all seemed omnipotent, they had different pre-programmed structures and specialized fields.

Among them, JARVIS was the smartest and evolved the fastest.

The others were backups—never fully activated, primitive compared to JARVIS, who was nearly as intelligent as a real human.

Except for being unable to break his base code, the rest was almost indistinguishable from a person.

"And in that video, didn't that kid—Peter Parker—order Friday to use drones to kill that 'Mysterio' guy?" Tony asked, remembering the scene.

"Yes, sir. That segment does exist," JARVIS confirmed.

"Then it makes sense. Vision is actually JARVIS. Because JARVIS became Vision, the AI system was switched to Friday… But something still feels off…" Tony continued rubbing his chin.

If he wanted to use JARVIS's AI as the core of a robot, he wouldn't need to erase JARVIS. He could simply copy the program.Use both at the same time.It wasn't difficult.

At worst, he'd just need another server. For him, that was nothing.

If money could solve it, then it wasn't a problem.

He could even build a dedicated data center for JARVIS.Money was just numbers.

Since JARVIS was a program, not a real person, there was no need to retire him in favor of Friday.

Friday was still just a primitive AI, lacking JARVIS's years of experience and training.

And Tony was long used to JARVIS. Switching away felt… off.

JARVIS was practically a real butler.

But to be honest… having a physical JARVIS didn't sound bad either.

"But Vision's abilities—can those even be achieved with science?" Tony muttered.

Just thinking about Vision made the idea absurd.

For example, flying without any external assistance. Up to now, the only one he'd seen do that was Lin Feng.

Even Thor, a god, couldn't do it.Wonder Woman could—but only with her Lasso of Truth to lift her.

Then there was his ability to phase through matter, making all of Hawkeye's attacks pass through him harmlessly.

Was that something Tony could develop?

He wasn't being modest—there was simply nothing scientific about that.

If he could do it, why didn't he put that technology into his own armor?

Why didn't he use it against Thanos?

Clearly, something was happening that he didn't know.

Maybe it was magic.Yes—when in doubt, blame magic.

It made things easier to explain.

He'd seen too many magical anomalies lately, so it was becoming his default assumption.

Still no clue.Tony finally said:

"JARVIS, pull all media reports related to my parents' accident. I keep feeling like… there may be something I never knew."

"Yes, sir," JARVIS replied.

Gwen finished reading the diary with a complicated expression. The Avengers had a Civil War—and it was a brutal one.

She also saw a slightly older Peter Parker from the future.

He really was Spider-Man; their abilities were nearly identical.

Super strength, super durability, enhanced senses across the board…

And he used mechanical web-shooters for combat. It was almost exactly the same.

If she hadn't seen it with her own eyes, she would never believe someone else could have exactly the same powers—and even similar suit and fighting style.

But after seeing it, she could only accept that it might truly be real.

"Spider Totem…" Gwen murmured.

Lin Feng's diary said that all Spider-Men were chosen by the Spider Totem—not created by accidents.

But normally, a single timeline only had one chosen Spider Totem host.

And then there was the Morlun family—those who fed on Spider Totems.

A faint unease crept into her heart.

She realized…She might be in serious trouble.
