Chapter 65 - Armament Haki

Chapter 65 – Armament Haki

"Izanagi..."

The word echoed through the air, drawing confused looks from most of those present. Only Sarutobi Hiruzen and Danzo furrowed their brows, clearly understanding its meaning.

Yusuke, however, paid no mind to the commotion around him. He silently walked toward the group of Uchiha shinobi who had insulted his father.

"Any last words?" he asked coldly, his voice calm but laced with menace.

"You're insane!" Uchiha Gaku shouted furiously, his eyes burning with rage.

The others, however, trembled in fear. Two of them had only followed along, but now their lives were on the line just the same.

"Then go meet your ancestors."

A beam of golden light shot from Yusuke's fingertip, piercing Gaku's chest clean through. His heart stopped instantly.

"It wasn't me! Please—I'm begging you!" the remaining young Uchiha cried out, his voice shaking with fear. He was barely more than a teenager, and no one could blame him for being terrified.

The Uchiha watching the scene unfold glared at Yusuke with pure hatred. If their eyes could kill, he would've been torn apart.

"Tch. Blame your friends." Without hesitation, Yusuke dispatched him just as quickly.

"Regret it now?" he asked Uchiha Yoru, who lay on the ground, trembling and helpless, both arms and legs severed.

"You monster…" Yoru whispered, paralyzed by the horror of what he'd brought upon himself.

"Maybe in your next life, you'll think twice before running your mouth."

And with that, Yusuke ended his life as well.

Turning his back on the bodies, Yusuke casually walked toward his father.

"You came after all, huh?" he said with a warm smile—completely different from the cold face he wore moments before. It was like flipping a switch. Suddenly, he looked like a regular cheerful teenager again.

"Yusuke… wasn't that a bit much?" Sakumo let out a long sigh. He knew his eldest son well. Yusuke was kind—gentle, even—until someone hurt the people he loved. Then he became dangerous. Deadly, even. Sakumo remembered the time Yusuke had violently protected Kakashi as a child. That same fire was in his eyes now.

"It's nothing, Father. I did this for everyone's sake too. Besides, insulting a Konoha hero like you… isn't that the same as insulting the entire village?" Yusuke said, his voice as calm as ever.

Many around them rolled their eyes at his justification.

"Well then, Father. I'm done here. I'll go find Kakashi."

And just like that, he vanished.

Sarutobi Hiruzen sighed deeply. Yusuke was indeed hard to control. But as long as Sakumo remained loyal to the village, Hiruzen knew Yusuke would never betray Konoha either. He trusted the father—and, by extension, the son.

"The rest of you, disperse. Uchiha Gaku's execution was justified. He insulted a hero of the Hidden Leaf," the Third Hokage declared, officially backing Yusuke's actions.

"Hey! Wait up, brat!" Tsunade called out, jogging after him.

"Tsunade? What's up?"

"What, I'm not allowed to look for you?" she said, rolling her eyes.

"Haha, of course you are."

"Come with me. Let's go drink!"

"…Eh? Alright, fine…" Yusuke gave in with a sigh.

The two of them headed to a nearby tavern. Yusuke honestly didn't get why Tsunade loved drinking so much, but he went along with it anyway.

After downing a few cups of sake, Tsunade finally spoke up.

"Yusuke… if I was the one they insulted, would you have stormed the Uchiha compound like that?"

Yusuke blinked, a little surprised she used his name so directly.

"Of course I would," he said plainly, no hesitation.

"Why do you ask?"

"Shut up and drink!" she snapped, going from calm to flustered in a heartbeat. Yusuke had no idea what was going through her head.

She didn't press further, though. They just sat there as she drank. Naturally, Yusuke didn't touch the alcohol himself.

When night fell and Tsunade was completely drunk, Yusuke had no choice but to carry her home.

Outside her door, she tugged weakly on his shirt.

"Carry me… but walking," she slurred, eyes half-closed.

"Fine, fine. Get on," he muttered.

He carried her down the quiet path. People stared, but Yusuke couldn't care less.

"War's coming soon…" Tsunade murmured softly. "How many lives will be lost on the battlefield…"

Yusuke raised an eyebrow. "I don't get you shinobi types. Why cry over something that hasn't happened yet?"

"They're human lives, Yusuke."

"So what? This world's already a mess. Death is everywhere. What's the point in mourning it?"

"But how many Leaf shinobi will die in the coming war…?" Her voice was heavy. Despite knowing the reality of being a ninja, she still couldn't fully accept the senseless loss of life.

"My grandfather built this village for the sake of peace in the shinobi world."

"The First Hokage, huh? Yeah… he was truly something."

"Of course! My grandpa was the God of Shinobi! No way some guy like Hanzo could compare!" she said proudly.

"Yeah… I know." Yusuke didn't say it aloud, but in truth, he knew more about Hashirama than Tsunade ever would. The man was a true god among shinobi. Even Kurama was just a slightly stronger pet to him.

"Yusuke… what's your ninja way?"

"My ninja way, huh…? To become stronger than your grandfather. Stronger than Ōtsutsuki Kaguya herself…" But that last part stayed in his mind.

"Why are you so obsessed with strength? You're already incredibly powerful."

"It's not enough. In this world, weakness is a sin. Without power… I can't protect the people I care about."

Tsunade fell silent. Her cheeks flushed red—whether from embarrassment or the alcohol, even she wasn't sure.

"…Then do your best," she whispered.

"…By the way, Tsunade. I've decided—I'm going to teach you Armament Haki."

"Oh? I can learn it too?" Her interest piqued instantly.

"I've been researching it for a while now. But the conditions are a bit… complicated."

"There's a side effect?" she asked cautiously. If Yusuke had to sacrifice any of his strength, she didn't want it.

"Not really. My own power—well, the intensity of my Haki—might drop a little. But I can recover it through training. I'm just going to plant a 'seed' of my Haki into you. A guide of sorts. Kind of like the Six Paths Chakra from the Sage of Six Paths."

This way, Tsunade would gain access to Armament Haki. Whether she could grow it to rival someone like Garp, though, depended entirely on her talent. After all, this power came from another world entirely.

"No. I don't want it." Tsunade flat-out refused. She knew Yusuke had powerful enemies. If his strength decreased even a little, it could put him in danger.

"Relax. The drop won't be that big a deal. And right now, I only use Haki to strengthen my blade and body. My real trump card is still my Kekkei Genkai."

He wasn't wrong. Yusuke's true power lay in his Devil Fruit abilities. His Haki was strong, sure—but his human body still limited its development. That's why he hadn't taught it to Kakashi yet; the boy's body wasn't ready. But Tsunade was different. As the direct descendant of the Senju Clan, her body was more than strong enough to handle it.

"…Alright," she finally said.
