Kyra pov continued
Bright, that was the first thought that came to my mind. The sun was shining through the leaves, turning my head a little so the sun was out of my eyes. I went back to sleep.
"Kyra wake up!"
"no"
Dawn for the last few minutes had been trying and failing to get me out of my hammock, "I'm going to have Piplup spray you if you don't get up right now"
"Piplup", Dawn's Piplup sounded eager especially after remembering last night.
"Misdreavus deal with it"
"Mis"
Misdreavus, now fed up with Dawn for walking her up happily floated over, suddenly the red orbs around her neck glowed, now Piplup was floating.
"Pipluppp!", "Misdreavus put down Piplup right now!" Dawn yelled.
Smiling at Dawn I called out to her, "Dawn, I'll tell you what, Misdreavus will only put Piplup down if you get me a plate of food."
Clenching her fists and gritting her teeth as she looked at me, "fine, but you better keep your word!" This is the life, making someone else serve me breakfast in bed.
Dawn grudgingly made me a plate of food Brock made, receiving the plate Dawn stood over me, "well?" Remembering Piplup I looked over, Misdreavus was lazily spinning Piplup while watching us, snapping my fingers Misdreavus set Piplup down.
"Hey uuhh, Kyra?" While I was eating Ash approached me, "Yes?"
"Don't you need to feed your team?"
Shaking my head I looked at him, "nope, that's one of the benefits of being a ghost type trainer, I don't need to buy food. Unlike other pokemon, most ghost types feed off emotion, like fear, and they all got a lot to eat from Lucas last night."
"Ghost type trainer? Does that mean you only have ghost types?" Ash asked
"Yes and no, I wouldn't mind having a pokemon that has a dual typing as long as they have the ghost typing they're fine with me." Now Ash was frowning, "so does that mean you don't like pokemon that aren't ghost types?"
Overhearing our conversation while packing his tent Lucas spoke up for me, "No, she doesn't mind other pokemon, unless their fairy types. Kyra wants to show the world the beauty of ghost types." Lucas said, adding a bit of dramatic flare at the last part.
Raising my fork in the air and pointing at the sky, "Yes, I want to show the world how powerful I can be while specializing in ghost type pokemon hahaha."
"Well Kyra you can plan world domination later, everyone but you is ready to head to Jubilife." Dawn said
"Fine", sighing then scarfing down the rest of the food on my plate I jumped out my hammock. My movements woke up Duskull and Gastly, right nocturnal pokemon.
Ghastly would be easier to work with but Duskull I knew would be the hardest one to work with in getting on a daytime schedule.
"Okay you two we're heading out."
"Gastly?", "Dusk?", "I get it, you're both non morning pokemon but I'm going to need you both to be awake throughout the day."
"Gas", "Dusk", they both complained
"Mis mis Misdreavus", Misdreavus seeing the scene could help but make fun of them. Now they have to suffer like her, when I first got Misdreavus I spent weeks trying to get her to stay awake during the day.
While she does become more active after sundown, she can stay awake all day if she wanted to so I'll take it.
Giving Gastly and Duskull some slack since we were a few hours away from Jubilife I recalled them into their pokeballs. Quickly stuffing everything into my bag, I was ready to leave with the group.
Looking around everyone else was ready, but looking at Ash I realized something, "hey Ash?"
Gaining his attention he looked at me, "ya?", "Are you going to recall your Pikachu into its pokeball?"
Chuckling he looked at his partner, "no, Pikachu doesn't like being inside his pokeball, Pikachu likes to stay by my side."
Hearing our conversation Pikachu hopped onto Ash's shoulder, "Pika!" He said in agreement with his partner.
They fist bumped, "Hey Kyra", Ash still looking at me asked. "Yes?"
"Can we battle?"
"Kyra I want to see you battle!" Dawn said, (under her breath) "and lose again"
Lucas getting in on the action with his twin, "come on I want to see what you and Misdreavus have been working on"
Brock during all this just seemed amused like he expected something like this to happen sooner or later.
Being under everyone's encouragement wasn't the ideal situation for me but remembering I had to stick close to Ash I just had to bear with it for a while.
"Do you want to do it here or wait until Jubilife? The battle will be a one on one since I just caught Duskull and Ghastly."
He seemed slightly disappointed that he would only get to use one pokemon but since he had seen me catch my new team members yesterday he understood that they weren't ready for battle.
"I'm fine battling here, Brock is traveling the world to become the world's best pokemon breeder so he can take care of our pokemon." Turning to his Pikachu, "what do you say for a battle buddy?"
"Pika!"
"Alright then let's begin" I said as I grabbed Misdreavus's ball.
"Go Ash!", "Good luck to the both of you!", came the voices of Brock and the twins.
Not wanting to keep them waiting I tossed out Misdreavus's ball, "go Misdreavus"
"Misdreavus"
Ash seeing Misdreavus took out his pokedex and scanned her, after a moment he sent out his Pikachu.
"Pikachu, use thunderbolt!!"
"MIsdreavus, dodge it and use astonish"
Misdreavus dodged the first attack and activated astonish, and Pikachu flinched.
"Nasty plot"
Hearing that Ash clenched his fist, "Pikachu use quick attack to get in close then use iron tail!!"
Since Ash so kindly explained what he planned to do, how could I not reward him for it, quickly whistling Misdreavus understood what to do.
Hearing the sound, Misdreavus floated up casting a long shadow over our arena.
"What's going on now?" While we were battling I heard Brock and Lucas filling Dawn in about what was going on.
"Pikachu jump now", "Piiiika"
Misdreavus was ready, with Pikachu now in the air she disappeared.
"Huh?! Where'd Misdreavus go?! Dawn said, not losing any confidence in his partner Ash called out, "Pikachu start running around, we can win this!"
"Pika!" Pikachu started running around in a wide circle warily looking around for Misdreavus
"Misdreavus", Misdreavus appeared right behind Pikachu, shadow ball at the ready.
"Pikachu iron tail behind you!!!" Pikachu, trusting his trainer, spun around his tail, meeting Misdreavus's shadow ball.
"Misdreavus!" I called, that Pikachu was fast, with the two attacks meeting there was an explosion. Both pokemon were blasted away. Pikachu looked scuffed up but not that badly hurt.
Misdreavus however looked worse, Ash seeing Misdreavus, took advantage of the opportunity, "Pikachu, volt tackle"
"Misdreavus, shadow ball the ground", "Mis"
But the mouse was fast and Misdreavus couldn't gather enough energy in time and was hit, "Misss"
She hit the ground hard, I wanted to end the fight but since she still looked like she still had some fight in her I couldn't just call it.
"Pikachu, iron tail!!"
"Misdreavus scary face"
Suddenly a giant purple skull appeared on the battlefield and Pikachu lost track of his footing and rolled on the ground.
"Pain split"
"Pikachu!! Quick use thunderbolt!!" Ash called
"Misdreavus, psybeam"
They both charged their energies, unfortunately the scary face from before meant Misdreavus fired first and just as Pikachu launched his thunderbolt, it was too late.
When the dust cleared Pikachu was out, making Misdreavus the winner, I exhaled a sigh of relief.
Normally Misdreavus would be flying around firing off confusion but with Pikachu's size and agility we needed a more personal approach.
"Mis", "come here Misdreavus", taking my partner into my arms I looked her over. While she had gotten a slight boost in energy from the pain split, it was only a small amount.
Seeing that Misdreavus would only need some basic treatment and a trip to the pokemon center I put her on my head, the moment she made contact with my head she melted across my hair.
With Misdreavus no longer my main focus I looked to Ash, he was cradling his Pikachu in his arms. Since Misdreavus was playing dead on my head Brock moved over to me to start spraying her with some potion.
"Maybe next time Ash", "you were close Ash, Kyra's had Misdreavus for years" Dawn and Lucas comforted his loss against me.
"Pika", Pikachu tiredly said to Ash, "it's okay buddy, next time we'll beat her, but hey at least it wasn't Paul this time."
After some time and some healing from Brock, we were ready to head to Jubilife. While we were walking I was going over my thoughts, this was the guy Hikari wanted us to find. By being near this guy we could find our real target.
By finding our real target we could get paid, while I was in my head I remembered I still had the dolly in my bag.
I would have to stop by my cousin's family, thinking of my family I could only wonder how Tina was.
Sensing someone nearby I looked over, it was Lucas, "hey Lucas", "Hey Kyra"
There was a pause, Lucas gave me an awkward smile, "So ahh, how is Noah, Hikari, and Barry"
"Noah, and Hikari are good as far as I'm aware, as for Barry? It's Barry, he'll be fine." At my words Lucas looked confused, realizing what he was probably confused over I elaborated.
"After you and Dawn left us, Barry being Barry zoomed off somewhere"
"Yup that sounds like Barry", we both nodded.
Me and Lucas spent the rest of the walk to Jubilife chatting about our adventures.

After two more hours of walking we arrived at the pokemon center.
Me and everyone in Ash's handed nurse Joy, almost all our pokemon. The last one was Brock, after he got punched in the gut by his Croagunk, then dragged and dropped off on a couch, Brock's Croagunk joined the rest with Nurse Joy.
Brock's actions in trying to ask out nurse joy, made a lot of people look over to see what caused the commotion, "ohh, mph, Kyra, over here"
Looking over, it was Noah who was in the middle of a bite from a burger. "Oh it's Lucas and Dawn too!"
That got the rest of the group's attention, even Brock who already had recovered from his Croagunk's punch. "Noah!!" Dawn and Lucas said as they rushed over to greet their friend.
While they chatted and introduced Ash and Brock I went to freshen myself up.
When I came back they were still talking. "Then there's this wonderful person named Paul." Ash said, by the end of his story, Noah's face looked so dark, he may as well have desecrated Noah's entire bloodline.
Even I was mad, when you catch a pokemon you were supposed to bond with them, sure some of them could be late bloomers but that was the whole point of the journey. To bring out the potential of everyone.
Both pokemon and trainer, they were supposed to bond together through the trial of a journey. If I ever met him I would just have to make sure I gave him a personal introduction into what it meant to be a ghost type trainer.
"Chansey", "Pika"
At that we all turned, it was nurse Joy's Chansey and Pikachu, Chansey had all of our pokeballs for us. Brock seemed disappointed that it wasn't nurse Joy, but still thanked Chansey.
Walking out of the Pokemon center we all looked at each other, what should we do now, remembering my errand I looked to the group.
"I have to go run some errands, so I'll meet you all again soon, what are you going to do now?"
"I am going to practice with my team for the pokemon contest", Dawn said, "then we'll all go with you, I'm excited to see your moves" Ash said
Just before they left I pulled Noah aside for a second, "don't lose them, they're the ones that will help us find our target."
Noah first looked confused, then quickly turned his head back to look at the group, zeroing in on Ash, "ooohhhhh, I got it" he said while giving me a thumbs up.
"Alright I'll leave it to you Noah", I said while first heading for the pokemart.
Once I was inside the pokemart I released Ghastly, "gas?"
Ghastly were great pokemon but the main problem was that they were mostly made up of gas, I remembered that when I found Duskull's clearing Ghastly had stayed behind the tree line.
Crouching down so that we were closer to the same size I looked at him, Gastly still looked tired but would be fine if I got him moving, "hey Gastly, do you want to go outside?"
"Gastly", Gastly sort of rolled in the air, "do you not like the wind?"
At that he nodded, "then I have an idea, for now until you evolve you'll be in this" I said while picking up a fish bowl.
"Gas!!"

To passersby there was a girl in all black accompanied by a floating upside down fish bowl.
Anytime someone got too close to the bowl, suddenly two giant eyes would appear startling whoever it was.
"Gas, gas, Gastly", Gastly was laughing at his latest victim who was a curious little girl that immediately ran back to hide behind her mother.
Gastly seemed wide awake now, and was having a blast in scaring anyone that gave him a funny reaction. While I was walking to my cousin's place.
I made my way through the city, eventually I reached the right building.
"Why is the elevator broken, and why do you guys live on the twelfth floor?!" I complained while passing the fourth floor. Walking was fine, but walking up stairs was annoying, I could only groan louder when I realized I would have to come back down twelve flights of stairs.
"Gastly! Gastly!" "Real funny you jerk", "Gastly, gas, gas!"
He was laughing at me, all he had to do was float up the middle of the stairwell, grumbling the entire way up until I finally reached my cousin's door.
Knocking on the door I waited for a bit, it wasn't long before my aunt Kelly opened the door, "Hell-, oh it's Kyra!"
Oh no you don't, I thought as I used every single one of my limited reflexes and grabbed Ghastly's bowl and shoved it into her arms. As Ghastly was swallowed up in an auntie hug, the ones where you can't resist, then they start placing dry kisses smothered in lipstick all over your face.
Since my aunt Kelly was a rational human, it didn't take her long to realize that what she had wasn't my head. "Gassss"
In just the few seconds of being kissed, Ghastly's bowl facing my aunt was completely covered in red stains from her lipstick.
Gastly from my limited view of his front look horrified, luckily for him there were no holidays near, otherwise I would have shoved him in that room and left him to all the aunties while praying for him.
"Kyra dear, what's this?" All she could see was a red orb in her arms, "turn it around" I said while holding back from laughing.
"It's aaa, ooohh, you finally caught another pokemon? A Ghastly?"
"Yes, I also caught a Duskull but he's probably asleep in his ball", she looked slightly disappointed, "why are you and Tina so different, don't you like cute pokemon?"
"To me they are cute", "GHASTLY!", "right you are very manly Ghastly, especially with all those kisses."
"Gasss"
"Alright then dear, it's rude to keep you at the door, come on in."
Making my way inside I found grandpa on the couch mumbling, his old Munchlax was next to him eating his meal.
"Is Abby at school?"
"Yes, but she shouldn't be back for at least a few more hours"
My cousin was the same age as Tina, my aunt was on my mom's side and grandpa lived with them since he couldn't take care of himself, he was eighty and had dementia.
While we were talking I could hear my grandpa in the background, "neck tie, nectar, nickel, noodle. It's an n word."
I guess my aunt also heard him because she looked irritated and sped up the conversation.
Turning our heads back away from grandpa, we both noticed Ghastly, since we were inside, he was out floating by the sink cleaning his bowl.
"I guess someone doesn't appreciate my affection", she said in a foe hurt voice. "Why would you even think that, Ghastly loves you, Ghastly come here for second."
He froze, then floated away, "Ghastly!!"
We both laughed, "sorry to come by unannounced but I came to drop off a dolly."
"It's no bother, the last time I talked to your father, he mentioned that you might come by to drop it off."
Grandpa seemed to have gained some inspiration, "It's definitely an n word" he quickly spun around looking straight at us, "It's definitely an n word!!"
My aunt seemed to know what was about to happen, she stood up and moved over to me, "listen sorry Kyra I'm going to have to ask you to leave I -"
"I got it!!"
"Ghastly come here", I called to my pokemon
I grabbed Ghastly's bowl, as my aunt rushed us out the door, Ghastly hearing us floated after us.
"Thank you for coming by, good luck on your journey, call me sometime to tell me about it."
"Love you, bye Munchlax", "Love you too Kyra", "Muuuunch"
Just as we reached the door I heard my grandpa, "niiii-", before he could finish the door was closed before I could hear the final bit.
Chuckling as I was about to turn to leave I heard Ghastly, "gas"
"Hmm, what's up Ghastly?"
"Ghastly, gas", following his line of sight, there at my feet wrapped in napkins was a donut. Noticing the small bits of blue fur on the napkin I realized it was a gift from Munchlax.
From the door I could hear aunt Kelly yelling at my grandpa, putting my hands to my mouth, "Thank you Munchlax!!"
At my words the yelling paused, "Muuuunch", since neither me or Munchlax added anything else, my aunt went back to yelling at my grandpa.
Laughing, I gave Ghastly his bowl. Once he was inside, I grabbed the donut and made my way down the hall.
"DAMN STAIRS!!!"
(Author note - I'm well aware what shadow sneak actually does, extending the user's shadow to attack, but personally I like the idea that the user can teleport right behind the target.)
