Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Third Option

My entire body felt prickly like I had hugged a cactus, and yet I didn't feel any pain, I also couldn't smell the trash my body had been covered in earlier. Slowly opening my eyes, I quickly realized that I wasn't in a hospital.

Pushing my head up I saw the blurry outline of a purple figure sitting in a glowing white chair.

Blinking a few more times the figure that sat across from me came into focus, it was a girl, she was wearing a light purple dress, and had two long silver bundles of hair that reached past her waist. As I observed her, she got off her chair and walked towards me her steps echoing off the floor.

"Hikari Tanaka, welcome to the afterlife, my name is Eris and I am the current goddess overseeing Japan". Her voice was serene, just hearing her speak made me slightly calm down and realize that the piano had probably squashed me.

The now named goddess was standing in front of me, now that she was closer to me I could feel a calming air around her.

Then I remembered something, "but I died in America?" at my words, she froze for a second, she turned around making it so that I couldn't see her face, I could hear her mumbling something but to me, it seemed to catch her off guard that I wasn't in Japan when I died.

After thirty seconds she turned around then continued walking towards me seeming to pretend as if nothing had just happened.

"Also, what do you mean by current goddess?", I asked her

Eris shrugged off my question, "the previous goddess who was in charge of Japan, is on a quest to defeat a demon king in another realm, but that is a different story. However since you have died at the meager age of 20, I am giving you the choice, to either reincarnate somewhere on earth or go to heaven."

Giving her a curious look I opened my mouth, "what is it like in heaven, and what happens if I choose to reincarnate on earth?"

As if expecting that question Eris sucked in a long breath. "In heaven, you get to enjoy peace like you never have before, no pain, no stress, no taxes, just waiting until the end of time. However, should you choose to reincarnate back on earth, you will live another life but you will lose all your memories."

Looking over both options it was either wait out the end of time, or become a blank slate. While I was still mentally debating over the options from one of her sleeves, Eris pulled out a pamphlet, "there is a third option however I must warn you it does come with some risks."

Taking the pamphlet from her hands, I noticed that the title was Guide to Reincarnation in another world, upon opening it I realized the first few pages had some basic information about another world, how it was at war with a demon lord, the era the world was in medieval times but this world had magic.

This world was just like my video games, monsters, magic, and a demon lord. The next page talked about the benefits that would happen to me if I chose this option, keeping my memories, and being able to take one thing with me or have a special ability. The pamphlet also said that if I could defeat the devil king any wish of mine would be granted, just as I was grinning like a loon I got to the last page.

Unlike the previous pages, the final page of the pamphlet was full of red warnings, the first one was about going poof while reincarnating, then next was about the real possibility of death, the last one was about how if I die there would be no next time.

"As you can see, the third option has many great benefits with the same number of risks, should you wish to go this route than simply sign your name at the bottom of the last page". Eris added, while handing over a pen she got from her other sleeve.

Taking it from her I only hesitated for a few more moments then I signed it, the moment I finished with my signature both the pen and pamphlet disappeared in to light particles that started surrounding Eris.

The moment the particles appeared she then stepped back ten feet from me then spread her arms out, and suddenly beneath me a glowing circle appeared.

"Now that you have chosen the third option, you may now choose either to take an item or ability of your choosing." Despite living on Earth for 20 years the best my brain could come up with was an ability from Naruto.

The Hozuki clan's hydrification technique, while it wasn't all powerful as kamui it was definitely a handy ability, sure it came with the downside of a constant need for water, that aside survival was almost guaranteed the pamphlet did mention that there was magic in the new world, how hard could it be to learn a spell to create water?

"For my special ability I choose an inborn talent of the Hozuki clan's hydrification technique, from the anime Naruto".

Hearing me Eris started manipulating a blue energy in her hands, "Hikari, from now on your body will be like a bag of water, attacks meant to harm you, as in draw blood will come out as water, but if they don't puncture you then your body will remain solid. The only way attacks will hurt you is if you get shocked by a sudden surge of electricity. You will have some control over water but that depends on how much you train in the ability yourself."

Once she was finished talking, the blue energy rushed into my body, then the circle I was in grew in size, and started glowing. To finish Eris raised her arms into the air, as she did I started floating up heading towards the light, "I wish you the best of luck Hikari, that you may defeat the devil king and ..."

Midway through her speech she suddenly stopped, a look of pity, and horror crossed her face. Now confused I realized she wasn't looking at me anymore, when I turned around I saw what could best be described as a human corpse with a huge hole in the middle of their chest sitting in the chair I was originally in.

I wanted to puke, the sight before me was one that would stick in my head for a long time, suddenly I started shaking in the air. Spinning around I saw Eris trying not to puke either, but unlike me it seemed she had the weaker stomach as she turned around and started vomiting a rainbow?

The moment her arms went down the circle started going haywire, the magic circle went from the original blue, to yellow, then red. The last I saw was Eris still hunched still barfing up a rainbow as the light consumed me.

(Author Note - You may wonder why I went with the hydrification technique, it is because I have no idea what else to do, this is pokemon, humans aren't the ones fighting.)
